Chapter 15

The party was fairly normal and low-key, to Cam’s relief.

It wasn’t the only thing about his friendship with Scott that had been concerning him lately.

“Holy shit, I didn’t know there would be so many famous people here,” Scott whisper-exclaimed, his hand gripping Cam’s bicep in excitement. “That’s Tristan DuVal! Do you think it would be rude to go over there and introduce myself?”

Cam followed Scott’s gaze. When he saw him staring at yet another slim, petite guy with a ridiculously beautiful face, Cam rolled his eyes with a scoff.

“It would be,” he said shortly, steering Scott away, toward the table he could see several racing drivers seated at.

Straight racing drivers, no twinks anywhere to be seen.

“Didn’t expect to see you at a party like this, Richter.” Liverstock, the IndyCar champion, shook his hand, before his gaze flicked to Scott. “Ah. Here to show support for your friend?”

Cam gave a clipped nod, pulling Scott to sit beside him, but Scott shook his head, glancing at the other drivers with a crooked smile. “You guys talk cars, I’ll go mingle,” he said, and strolled away.

Cam stared at his back as it disappeared into the crowd of party-goers, his mood souring. He had every right to be irritated. He’d come here for Scott’s sake only for Scott to abandon him not even five minutes after their arrival.

Liverstock asked him a question about the race, and Cam allowed himself to be dragged into the conversation, but the annoyance and vague discontent lingered. He found himself distracted, his eyes seeking Scott out in the crowd and following his progress through the large room.

Scott was clearly in his element, all charming smiles and easy laughs as he moved from one group to another.

He looked ridiculously handsome tonight in his blue designer shirt and dark slacks, an expensive watch glistening on his wrist as he hooked his thumbs through his belt loops and flirted outrageously, white teeth flashing while he laughed at something the twink he was talking to said.

He was leaning in toward him, his body language inviting.

He clearly wanted to get into the guy’s pants.

Tearing his gaze away, Cam threw his drink back, the alcohol burning his throat.

Maybe he should fuck someone, too. A woman. How long had it been? Too long.

He scanned the room until his gaze stopped on a tall, dark-haired woman at the open bar. Eyeing her long legs in a short skirt, Cam decided that she was as good a candidate as any. Hopefully she was into men. Considering the party they were at, it wasn’t a given.

Setting his drink down, he headed toward the woman, forcing himself not to look at the side of the room Scott and his twink were in.

It was none of his business. Scott was a grown man and could do whatever—and whoever—he wanted.

Just a friend. A friend whose mouth he’d fucked on multiple occasions, but that was it.

They were just friends. Things had been getting…

a bit strange between them lately as it was.

More than a bit strange. He had bought his very male friend a bra because he wanted to see him in it.

This whole thing between them was getting out of hand.

This was good. They both needed to fuck other people. People they actually wanted.

“Hi,” he said, leaning against the bar beside the woman.

She turned her head and her eyes widened. She smiled. “Hey there yourself,” she purred. Definitely into men.

She introduced herself as Annie, and Cam had been lightly flirting with her for a few minutes when an arm wrapped around his shoulders, and the familiar scent of Scott’s cologne hit his nostrils.

“Here you are,” Scott drawled, his warm breath brushing Cam’s ear. “I was looking for you everywhere, babe.”

“Were you?” Cam said wryly, turning his head and locking his eyes with the blue-gray orbs inches away from him. Christ, eyes like that really were wasted on a man. So fucking pretty.

“Yeah, c’mere,” Scott said, sliding his hand down Cam’s arm and stopping at his wrist, just short of grabbing his hand.

“We were kind of in the middle of a conversation,” Annie said pointedly.

Scott gave her a smile that was nowhere near as charming as his usual ones. “Were you,” he said, his smile all teeth. “Did you tell him you were trans, sweetheart?”

Cam blinked at him. What?

He looked back at Annie, who was blushing and glaring daggers at Scott. “It’s hardly relevant, is it? I’m a woman.”

“Sure,” Scott said easily. “And a stunning one. But I’d hate for you to waste your time. He’s allergic to dick, no matter how pretty you are.”

Cam felt Annie’s questioning gaze on him, but he couldn’t look away from Scott.

What an asshole, he thought fondly and only vaguely registered Annie striding away with a huff.

“That was a dick move,” Cam said.

Scott raised his eyebrows, his grip on Cam’s wrist tightening. “Why? I saved her from heartbreak. You were getting her hopes up by being an oblivious idiot.”

Cam cocked his head to the side. “Why are you so sure I’d have run away screaming if I saw her dick when I undressed her? I’m not that bigoted. She is a woman. A beautiful one.”

A crease formed between Scott’s brows. His lips pursed. “You wouldn’t have freaked out at the sight of an erection? Really?”

Cam took a sip of his drink. “I didn’t freak out when I saw yours, did I?” he murmured dryly.

Scott flushed. “That’s different. You didn’t—we weren’t having sex. Not real sex.”

Cam looked at him carefully. Sometimes he’d wondered what Scott thought of their...

little arrangement. Scott had always been so adamant about Cam not being his type—and Cam did believe him, because he’d seen what type of guys Scott went out with—but Scotty also seemed oddly willing to do whatever Cam wanted.

And he enjoyed it—Scott couldn’t hide it from him—which was why the whole arrangement was getting weirder by the day.

“Oral is still sex,” Cam said, keeping his tone mild even as he watched Scott’s reaction sharply.

He wasn’t even sure why he was pushing. There was something about Scott that always made him want to push, test his boundaries.

Test how far Scotty would let him push. It wasn’t normal.

Cam was self-aware enough to admit it. Which was why he needed to get laid—by a woman.

Scott scowled, a flush appearing on his cheekbones. “You know what I mean,” he said stiffly. “Fine, if you’re that into her, go after her! I’m not stopping you.”

Cam looked down at Scott’s iron grip around his wrist and raised his eyebrows.

Scott blinked at his own hand, as if struggling to process where it was. He let go with a huff. “Go ahead, go bang that—” He pursed his lips tightly, clearly cutting himself off before he could say something he would regret.

“You know, for a gay man, you’re being a right bigot,” Cam said, eyeing him curiously.

Scott crossed his arms over his chest and shot him a sullen look. “I’m not. I’ll have you know, I have plenty of trans friends. Not wanting that woman near you doesn’t make me a bigot.”

Cam’s lips twitched. “Then what does it make you?”

“A dick,” Scott said with a rueful smile, grabbing his wrist again, lower this time, practically holding his hand. “A dick who doesn’t like sharing. If you must have a token LGBT friend, it has to be me and no one else. You’re mine.”

Cam blinked slowly, trying to process it. His stomach knotted up with a strange feeling he couldn’t quite decipher. “You do realize you’re being weird, right?” he said with a wry smile.

Scott shrugged. “I’m an only child. I’ve been spoiled my whole life. I’ve always been a selfish shit who’s terrible at sharing—just ask Will.”

“I actually can’t wait to meet him,” Cam said. He was immensely curious what kind of little terror Scott had been growing up. His cousin would know.

Chuckling, Scott leaned toward him, but whatever he was about to say was interrupted by another voice.

“What’s taken you so long, Scott? You left to get our drinks ages ago.”

Cam turned his head, and sure enough, the twink Scott had been flirting with was standing there, looking at them curiously.

“Roy, this is Cam,” Scott said after a moment, his eyes narrowing a little when Roy gave Cam an appreciative once-over. “Cam was nice enough to accompany me to this party, despite being straight.”

Cam snorted and leaned in to Scott’s ear. “Subtle. You might as well piss around me, mark your territory properly.”

Scott grinned, not looking embarrassed at all. He really was such a spoiled little shit.

“You’re so shameless in your assholery,” Cam said, rolling his eyes.

Scott shook his head. “It’s not about you,” he murmured, his lips brushing Cam’s ear. “I want to get into his pants and I can’t do that if he keeps looking at you like he wants to ride your dick.”

“Hmm. Sorry, but after you cockblocked me, I’m not feeling very sympathetic. If I’m not getting any, neither are you.”

Scott’s full lips folded into a pout. Cam dragged his eyes away, grimacing inwardly when he felt his cock twitch. It was just a Pavlovian reaction at this point. Scott’s lips. Orgasms.

“You’re the asshole here,” Scott said, lifting his hand to fix the top button of Cam’s shirt. “Stop looking so good and seducing all the gays. Leave some of them to us.”

Cam snorted. “As if you’d have trouble picking anyone up with a mouth like yours.”

The aforementioned mouth curled into a smug little smile.

A cough made Cam tear his gaze away.

Right. Roy.

The guy was looking at them with sharp, bright eyes. They were gleaming with interest.

“You two wanna get out of here?” he murmured, with a coy smile.

Cam went still, and so did Scott.

“He’s straight,” Scott said sharply. “He’s not interested.”

Roy hummed before shrugging. “I’m here with a friend. She’d love to join us.” He waved over a blonde woman. She was stunning, with a beautiful hourglass figure and a softness to her curves. She was objectively very attractive.

Cam looked at Scott.
