Chapter 38

“Casssssiieee.” Liam drags out my name with a groan and stretch. “Why did we agree to this?”

“Because we love Josie and she’s impossible to say no to,” I grumble, yawning into the pillow.

Liam hooks an arm around my waist, dragging my back to his front.

It’s not even that early, barely nine a.m., but a dull ache between my legs reminds me why we’re both this exhausted.

I was roused from sleep around three a.m. with Liam’s cock nudging at my entrance and we didn’t stop until the light of dawn peeked through the blinds.

I had no idea so many orgasms could be had in one night but Liam delivered, all while whispering praises in the form of sonnets.

We promised Josie we’d be at her house at half past ten for brunch to see them off before their honeymoon.

In a moment of insanity, I even offered to help straighten her house since I’m sure it’s a mess after yesterday.

When this conversation happened, I had no idea I’d be spending the night in Liam’s bed.

Liam’s thumb grazes my nipple, his stubbled chin rubbing against my shoulder. “We could be quick.”

“We”—I place heavy emphasis on the word—“need a shower. We smell like sex. Your entire bedroom does.”

“Together?” Liam asks with a hopeful note.

“I hear the world is running out of water. Together is the responsible thing to do.”

After another stretch, Liam rolls out of bed. “Gotta go let Mutt out. Wait for me.”

I let my eyes flutter closed while the sounds of Liam baby talking to Mutt fade as he moves down the hall. A door opens and closes and in another minute Liam’s perched on the edge of the bed, fingertips gliding through my hair. “Up and at ’em, sleeping beauty.” The bed shifts as Liam stands.

Groaning, I slowly peel my eyes open. We’re both still completely nude, and let me tell you, having Liam’s naked body be the first thing I see is something a girl could get used to.

He’s already half hard and all he’s doing is looking at me.

My mouth waters at the sight of him, thinking of all the things he did to my body last night.

On instinct, I press my thighs together.

“See something you like?”

When I don’t respond, Liam lets out a low chuckle and takes my hand, dragging me up until I’m standing.

I allow him to lead me to the bathroom where the shower’s already on, tendrils of steam curling around the mirror, fogging up the silver surface.

Liam claims my mouth, slowly walking us under the warm spray while his tongue works magic with my own.

The backs of my knees hit the tiled bench and I drop onto it, my shoulder blades hitting the cool surface of the tiled wall. A shiver rolls through me at the contact, goose bumps rising onto my arms and legs.

“Can I get a taste of you, baby?”

Okay, so maybe Josie can wait just a little bit longer.

Before I’ve even finished nodding, Liam’s on his knees, draping one of my legs over his shoulder and oh what a taste he gets.

With his tongue, he devours me like he’s starved and I’m the only thing that will satisfy his craving.

His entire mouth covers me while he flicks his tongue against my clit in a way that makes my vision blur around the edges.

“Been thinking about tasting this pretty little cunt since I had my fingers inside of you on Valentine’s Day.”

He pushes two fingers inside me, curling them forward, while his mouth returns to ravishing me like it’s his damn job.

My hand tangles in his dark waves, the other gripping the edge of the seat to steady myself from this welcome assault.

Through heavy-lidded eyes I watch him, rivulets of water streaming down his back, muscles in his neck and shoulders flexing each time he adjusts his angle, his mouth plucking me apart with each swipe of his tongue.

Liam on his knees, head between my legs is enough to make me forget I ever, ever considered settling for anything less than this.

Pressure builds at the base of my spine as Liam’s pace quickens.

The English language eludes me, helpless little sounds all I can manage.

Each one earns me a groan from Liam that vibrates directly against my center, compounding my pleasure until I’m a panting mess.

Sliding his fingers out, he stands, pulling a whimper from my throat at the loss of contact. I was so close to release, too.

“Need inside you.” His words are a low, desperate sound.

Liam circles my wrist to haul me up. His mouth lands on mine in a rough, desperate kind of kiss.

The taste of me is still on his tongue, which gives me this addictive sense of power, similar to what I felt last night.

He spins me so my back is flush against his front, his thick erection pressing into my ass cheek.

One hand grips my hip, fingers digging into my flesh, while the other reaches to remove the shower head from its mount.

He quickly flips the setting so the spray changes to a pulsing stream.

I’ve gotten myself off this way plenty of times before and I know exactly how I like it. Taking the showerhead from his hand, I guide it to my aching bundle of nerves.

“Holy fuck, that’s hot,” Liam rasps against my neck, right as he bends me over and slams into me in one single thrust. My knees turn liquid, almost giving out at the combined pleasure, but Liam somehow manages to keep me upright as he sets a punishing rhythm.

“God, Liam, yes. Harder,” I cry out, and god bless him, he obliges with a force that makes me forget my own name.

“Cassie,” Liam groans out my name like it’s being torn from somewhere deep in his chest. “I’m already so close.”

“Me,” I pant out on a ragged breath, “too.”

My orgasm hits all at once and I unravel at the seams. The only thing holding me up is Liam’s arm, now banded around my waist. He slams into me one last time, chanting nonsensical things I can scarcely make out, what with my heart pounding in my ears.

The showerhead drops from my hand, clattering to the tiled floor, as Liam pulls me up to press a trail of wet kisses from my shoulder to my cheek as our breaths even out.

We’re only fifteen minutes late to Josie’s, but I’m sure she’ll have plenty to say about it.

Our little impromptu slumber party left me with nothing to wear but Liam’s clothes.

I guess this is our official announcement.

Showing up together, me in his AC/DC T-shirt and rolled up sweatpants, is a dead giveaway.

I’m not even wearing a bra. I thought I’d have to go barefoot or stop by my apartment until Liam remembered a pair of flip flops I left in his truck last summer.

Ever the gentleman, Liam insists on opening my door to help me from his truck and we enter Josie’s house, pinkies hooked together.

“Sorry we’re late,” I announce as we enter the kitchen. Tyler is sitting at the table with a cup of coffee and The Wall Street Journal while Josie’s back is to us, bending to remove something from the oven. Voices of the rest of my family can be heard drifting in from further within the house.

“I was beginning to think I should send out a search party. Food’s all set up in the dining room on the buffet, but I can’t promise the bacon is still warm.

And nobody likes limp meat.” Josie gives a quick chuckle at herself.

“I did have to make more biscuits though, so at least those are wa—” Her words cut off as she turns, gives Liam and me a once over and her eyes go wide.

“Ohmygodyallfucked.” It’s a rushed, one word statement, and she claps a hand over her mouth.

Tyler folds the paper and stands. “And that’s my cue. I think I’ll join everyone in the dining room.” He drops a kiss to the top of Josie’s head and pats my arm affectionately as he passes us. Right as he’s gone, Penny appears in the doorway holding a glass of orange juice.

“Who fucked?” Then her eyes land on me, clad head to toe in Liam’s clothes. “Ohhhh.”

“Shut it,” I hiss. “The both of you.”

Beside me Liam chokes on a laugh, and from somewhere deeper in Josie’s house I hear my uncle, Tyler, and Austin discussing March Madness.

“Let it be known, Josie, I’ve eaten plenty this morning, so I’m good with limp meat for now.”

Turning, I raise both hands in the air. “Not helpful, Liam.”

“So, you two are…what?” Josie points a spoon back and forth between Liam and me.

Liam’s arm circles my waist and he tugs me flush to his side. “We are officially girlfriend and boyfriend.”

“Right. I see.” She performs a slow nod. “And we’re also back in middle school from the sound of it.”

Liam’s chest lifts on a laugh. “Fuck off, Jos. You know what I mean. We’re together. She’s mine and I’m hers.”

Josie’s lip begins to tremble and tears fill her waterline at the same time Penny coos out an “aww,” her eyes brimming. “That was beautiful, Liam.” She fans her face, blinking furiously. “Ignore me. Hormones.”

But I agree with Penny. Despite the start of this conversation, hearing Liam say I’m his and he’s mine is its own kind of sweetness.

Liam presses a kiss to my temple and releases me. “I’ll go see what everyone is up to. Leave you girls to talk.”

As soon as he’s out of earshot Josie and Penny squeal simultaneously.

“Sit. Sit.” Josie and Penny pull out chairs at the table, but I stay where I am.

“To be honest, sitting is a little uncomfortable right now.”

Their jaws drop at the same time. “Get it, girl,” Josie says. “So, you got a good dickin’.”

I roll my eyes but can’t fight my smile. “Did y’all know he’s pierced?”

Penny pauses, orange juice halfway to her lips and Josie slaps a palm to the tabletop. “Shut the front door. I mean, Liam’s always been cocky as hell. This shouldn’t surprise me. Only men who are confident in their abilities go and do shit like that.”

Memories of Liam’s many abilities take a front row seat in my mind’s eye, causing my cheeks to flush hot.

“Look at her face,” Penny whispers.

“Oh, I see it.” Josie replies, not whispering. “Our friend, Cassie has seen the promised land.”

I rub my temple because I haven’t had enough caffeine for all this. “I can’t with you two,” I say, turning on the heel of my dollar store flip flop. “I need breakfast. I’m starved.”

“I bet you are,” Josie says as she and Penny trail me into the dining room where my mom and Aunt Ashley still sit. “Hope y’all got enough to eat. Our girl Cassie has worked up appetite.”

“Last night, and apparently this morning, too,” Penny adds. I guess those hormones have made her extra saucy because she’s usually shushing Josie.

I shoot them a look and begin filling my plate with eggs, room temperature bacon, and sliced strawberries. Gingerly, I take a seat next to my mom.

Last week she asked how I’d feel if she stayed in Singing River for a while to spend more time with Austin and me and we made plans to have lunch here soon.

March is a fickle month, indecisive on how it’ll behave, but the weather is supposed to be beautiful this upcoming week.

“I heard there’s a new pizza food truck down near the marina. Want to do lunch Wednesday?” I ask between bites.

Mom’s face lights up. “Henry told me about that. Sure. Lunch sounds perfect.”

I bump her shoulder with mine. “Henry, huh?”

It seems during her time here, my mom caught Henry’s eye. We all know she’s not ready to move into a new relationship, but if there was anyone I’d hope for my mom it would be Henry.

Two pink splotches appear on Mom’s cheeks. “He’s a really good man, Cassie.”

Liam’s laugh can be heard from the living room, and I smile.

“I agree. There’s a few of those here in town, Mom.”
