Epilogue
Justice
“I’ve never gone to a club cookout before,” Annahi murmurs in my ear, filled with excitement as she hops off my bike.
“We haven’t had one in a while at the clubhouse, but we typically invite the Iron Howlers to ours. Just as they’ve done this time. However, this is mostly for Cyrus’s daughter.”
It’s her birthday, and when it comes to Cyrus’s and Corbin’s daughters, those two girls are what kept the brothers from killing each other.
Big Daddy, their dad and the original President of the Spiked Raiders MC.
He used to have parties at his place, but now, with the truce in place between the clubs, cookouts like this happen a lot.
Today was the Sunday after the bullshit with my brothers. We’ve been looking for our sister. The whole club is helping, and we haven’t found where Levana or our mother would take her.
It’s pissing me off, but it is what it is. We’ll find them in time. It’s just gonna take time to do it.
“That’s nice,” my woman murmurs, a bright smile on her face.
Just that smile alone sets the beast inside me at ease. Never in my life have I felt what she makes me feel, and I won’t lose that feeling. Not while alive. I’ll do whatever it takes to keep her.
“Annahi.”
We both turn at the sound of her name being called to find Raine and Lake, both calling her over to them.
“Come on, Justice, you can’t keep her to yourself all the time,” Raine shouts and laughs.
Sighing heavily, I press a kiss to the top of Annahi’s head. “Go on, Peanut, I’ll bring you a plate in a few minutes.”
“Okay,” she says, tilting her head back, waiting for me to kiss her mouth.
Fuck me, I love this woman. My mate.
I give her a kiss and let her go so she can join the others.
With the threat of Levana still and everything else, I don’t want to let her out of my sight, but as she’s told me, I can’t shield her in bubble wrap. Even when she didn’t have control of her gifts, she refused to stop doing her job and hide out.
Well, that was until after what happened at the clinic, and she’d become so overwhelmed with all the thoughts of my club brothers’ rage.
I’m not ready to let her go back to work, though she’s supposed to return tomorrow to the clinic. Thankfully, not on the night shift. I didn’t want her there alone at night. If she were, I’d be there with her every damn night ‘cause I wasn’t leaving her vulnerable to anything happening to her.
“VP.” Coby jerks his chin in my direction as I approach the table piled with food, the damn thing groaning with it.
There was everything from assorted smoked chicken to sausage links and burgers, even some damn steaks.
That’s not taking into account the sides—baked beans, potato salad, pasta salad, regular fucking salad, mac and cheese, and so much more. You name it, it’s set out.
“What’s up, brother?” I was surprised when I saw him earlier. We hadn’t really seen much of him outside his computer cave, doing his nerdy shit to help the club.
Granted, that nerdy shit is what helps the club in handling shit like finding Levana or even my mother. Though I doubt it will this time. Not when I know I have a feeling they’ll have some type of barrier around them to keep them from being found. Least ‘til they’re ready.
However, looking at Coby now, something seems different.
“Need to talk to you about something,” he says, glancing around. “Privately.”
I cock a brow and nod. “All right. Let me take this plate to Annahi, and I’ll meet you near the gates.”
Coby nods and lets out a sigh.
I don’t know what he needs to talk to me about, but whatever it is seems to have him off kilter.
Going down the table, I pile a plate with enough food for Annahi to pick from before taking it to her. I set the plate in front of her, not interrupting the conversation at hand, kiss the top of her head, and head for Coby, finding Corbin was also there.
“Spill it, Coby, what the fuck is it?” Corbin demands, arms crossed, and looking ready to throttle our brother.
I guess he didn’t like being pulled away from whatever he was doing.
He was playing with his daughter and son.
Granted, Asher wasn’t exactly playing. He was sitting in the baby swing while Corbin pushed him.
“Law is my mate.” The words rush past his lips, and I have to think about them for a moment before shaking my head, not thinking I heard him right.
“What?” Corbin grunts, seeming to have the same problem.
“Say that again?” I mutter. “Did you just say . . .”
“Law’s my mate.” Coby sighs and starts pacing directly in front of us. “I don’t know how this is happening. I didn’t think it could.”
“It’s not unheard of,” Corbin remarks.
“Yeah, but I didn’t expect a mate to be . . .”
“A male? A rogue?” I throw out.
“Both? I don’t know. I haven’t talked to him. I don’t know how to. I’m confused. I’ve never really thought about being with a male. I’ve only ever fucked the doxies and that was only when I needed to get the urge taken care of,” Coby rants and shakes his head.
“Look, not gonna judge you,” I tell him.
“If he’s your mate, he’s your mate. It is what it is.
The fates don’t explain why they do what they do.
So, take the time to figure out what you want.
Don’t do anything rash. And I’m not saying this because he and I share blood.
I’m saying this because you’re my brother, not by blood but regardless, you’re one of them. ”
Law, Creed, and Rule were still sticking around. We were really getting to know each other, but we’ve put them in a cabin, the very one that Karsyn had been hiding out in when she first showed in town. Granted, it’s not fixed up but it’s not just a shack in the middle of the woods.
I’ve talked to them, they’ve talked to me. I’m not sure if they’ll stick around after we find Court, but ‘til then, they’re working with us to get her back.
Coby nods, and I open my mouth to say something else when I feel Annahi in my mind go tense. I glance around, seeing her, but she was staring in our direction, just not at me. Wanting to know what was going on, I turned to see she was staring after a woman who was running away from the gates.
Corbin, Coby, and I weren’t too far from it, and I catch the woman’s scent. She is similar to my mate’s. What’s more, her hair was nearly the same color. She glances back, and holy shit, she looks nearly identical to Annahi.
Suddenly, Prowler, one of Cyrus’s men, rushes past us, his gaze on the woman as well, and I hear him murmur, “Mate.”
Well, fuck.
This should be interesting.
