Chapter 12
I was at the clubhouse when Munch called, and the tone in her voice had me on edge. Something was wrong, and I couldn’t begin to think what it could have been.
As soon as we hung up the phone, I got up and headed outside to wait for her, when Tech stopped me.
“You good?”
Since I wasn’t sure of what she had to tell me, I lied.
“I’m good. Munch about to come through, so I’m going outside to wait for her.”
“Ohh, Munch coming through,” Slider joked.
I gave him the finger and chuckled. I walked outside and paced.
A million things went through my head while I waited for her.
Was she going to tell me she was pregnant?
But there was no way she could know that soon.
Was she going to tell me she didn’t want to fuck with me anymore?
Or maybe she had some information on her brother.
I didn’t know what it was, and I couldn’t wait until she arrived.
The minute her little red car pulled into the parking spot, I was at the door before she could even put it in park.
Before she could turn the car off, I opened her door.
I reached in and helped her out, then closed the door. I leaned against the car because I wanted to hear what she had to say before we went inside.
“Hey,” she said as she looked down at the ground.
I lifted her chin and placed a soft kiss on her lips. I was anxious, but I still had to get a quick kiss.
“What’s going on?”
She looked around the parking lot and bit her bottom lip. I pulled her close and snaked my arms around her waist.
“Whatever it is, just tell me. I need to know how to move accordingly.”
She chewed the shit out of her bottom lip, and it made my heart speed up. She was nervous about something, but this wasn’t an average nervous. It seemed like she was spooked by something.
“So you know how I’ve been trying to find out what happened to my brother?” I nodded so she could continue. “Well, I found a flash drive, and he said something on there, but I don’t have the full truth yet.”
“What did he say, Raina?”
“He said . . . he said that one of the Vipers killed your father.”
I dropped my arms from her waist and stared at her. She looked scared—of me, and I didn’t like that shit. I couldn’t focus on that at the moment, though.
I snatched the toothpick out of my mouth. “Fuck you just say?”
“He said that one of the Vipers killed your father.”
I knew I heard her the first time, but I couldn’t wrap my head around it.
The Vipers were my father’s life besides my mother and me.
He treated everyone fairly, until you did some bullshit.
I’d witnessed him give people more opportunities than they deserved, so I couldn’t see one of them killing him. We were a family.
My body vibrated as I paced in front of her car.
“Where is this flash drive?”
Munch pulled at the bottom of her shirt.
“It’s at home. I think there is more on there somewhere. I wanted to look through it again.”
“I’m about to go in there and kill every last one of them!”
Munch jumped when I raised my voice. She hadn’t seen me angry, and I was sure she was afraid.
She grabbed my hand and pulled me toward her.
“Wait, Kane.” She wrapped her arms around me and held me as tight as she could.
I was a lot stronger than her, so I could have broken from her hold, but it actually calmed me down a little.
For the moment. “You can’t go in there and just kill everybody.
You have to think about this and find out the truth.
I feel like your father’s death and my brother’s are somehow connected, but we have to be smart about it. ”
She kissed my chest through my shirt, and I hugged her. We stood like that for a few moments. She was right; I couldn’t move impulsively. I needed to find out exactly what happened. I would have hated to kill one of my brothers for nothing. Someone was going to pay, though. That I was sure of.
“You’re right. I need to see this video.
For now, we are going to go in here and tell everyone else.
All the important people are in there, including Beast.” An indescribable look passed over her face when I said Beast, but it quickly disappeared.
“Come on.” I held her hand and led her inside the clubhouse.
All eyes were on us when we entered.
“If you aren’t an official Viper, get the fuck out!”
The people that didn’t need to be there quickly left. The people that stayed looked at me questionably.
“What’s this about?” Beast asked.
I pulled Munch closer and told her to sit down. I stood behind her because I couldn’t sit down, and I needed to see everyone’s reaction. I needed to see if anyone would give anything away. Some people couldn’t hide their guilt if they tried.
“I’m still doing some investigating, but it has been brought to my attention that someone, possibly in this room, is responsible for my father’s death, and potentially Slim’s.”
Isis and Carmen gasped. Tech, Slider, and Rico all looked shocked. Beast looked—angry.
He jumped up from his chair so fast, it fell over.
“What the fuck? Who said that shit? She did?” he asked as he pointed at Munch.
My jaw clenched as I made a fist against my leg. I wanted to knock him in his shit, but like Munch said, we had to move carefully.
“Who said it doesn’t matter. What matters is finding out the truth.
” I stepped away from Munch and walked around the room.
“I always wondered if some other shit was going on. My father treated everyone like brothers or his children, but there’s always a muthafucka that’s jealous.
” I shook my head. “But I can’t see family killing him. Shit doesn’t sound right to me.”
I said that to them, but inside, I wasn’t sure. I felt like if it were a rival, they would have boasted about it. It was like my father died, and nobody said a word. The only person that would have benefited from him dying would have been Beast, but I really didn’t want to think it was him.
Everyone looked around at each other, but nobody said a word.
“Look, I don’t want to accuse anyone.” I walked back over to the table and leaned over it. “I will say this. If someone in this room did that shit, I guarantee you I will kill you myself.” I grabbed Munch and left the clubhouse.
“Follow me to my house.” I opened her car door.
She got in the car without saying anything back.
I was glad she didn’t and that she listened.
Right now, she was the only person I felt like I could trust. Shit was crazy because before she came along, I didn’t trust a woman unless it was my mother.
Somehow, Munch’s little ass made her way into my heart.
I climbed onto my bike and pulled out of the parking lot. We could have gone upstairs, but I needed to be as far away from the clubhouse as possible. I had a feeling my brothers would come to the crib, but I wasn’t ready to talk to them.
Every so often, I checked to make sure Munch was behind me, and she kept up, even though I went over the speed limit.
When we got to my house, I parked my bike, then walked to her car. When she got out of the car, we walked up the few steps to the front door.
“I don’t know why I thought you would have lived somewhere different,” Munch said when we entered.
“Like where?”
She shrugged and took her shoes off near the door.
I grabbed her hand and led her into the living room.
I lived in a two-bedroom, two-bathroom condo.
It was just enough space for me. The living room had an open concept that connected to the kitchen.
The kitchen had an island in the middle with stainless steel appliances.
I didn’t have a table, so I put barstools in front of the island.
I sat on the couch and pulled her down next to me. I rested my head on the back of the couch and closed my eyes.
We sat in silence for a minute. I felt Munch’s hand reach for mine, and she squeezed.
“I know it’s a silly question, but are you okay?” Her thumb rubbed the back of my hand.
I kept my eyes closed and let it relax me.
“No, not really. I don’t know who would do something like that.” Without warning, tears fell from my eyes.
Someone really betrayed my father and the club and killed him. I couldn’t wrap my head around it.
Munch climbed into my lap and rested her forehead against mine.
“I’m so sorry, Kane,” she whispered.
I opened my eyes and saw tears had fallen from her eyes. I reached up and tried to wipe hers away while mine continued to fall.
I put my hand on the front of her neck, and she closed her eyes.
“You didn’t do anything wrong, baby.” I kissed her lips.
“I shouldn’t have said anything.”
“Nah. I’m glad you did.” I kissed her again.
My emotions were all over the place. I had never gotten over my father’s death, but I hadn’t cried about it in a long ass time. This shit opened that wound, but I felt better that Munch was with me.
“Munch, look at me.”
She looked at me with watery eyes, and that shit made my heart squeeze.
“I like you, Munch. On some I can’t stop thinking about you.
Like, you are the first thing I think about in the morning and the last person I think about at night.
I can’t wait to get to the clubhouse just so I can see you.
I know we got this other shit going on, but I want us to date and all of that shit. ”
“Are you sure, Kane?”
“I’ve never been surer.” I leaned in and kissed her softly.
We went from light pecks to my tongue sliding into her mouth, to her moaning, waking my dick up in the process.
Munch leaned back and pulled her shirt over her head. I rubbed her nipple through the blue bra she had on.
Within seconds, both of us were completely naked.
We both let out a moan when she slid down my dick.
She never responded to what I said, but it didn’t matter. The wetness of her pussy and the moans that fell from her lips were like music to my ears. It was all the confirmation I needed.
We had shit to figure out, but during that time, we would spend as much time together as we could.
