Chapter 9

Kendra

I watched as he walked over to the hoard. His shoulders dropped and he started opening and closing his hands. I didn’t understand what had happened. He had been fine a few minutes ago.

I bit into the snack bars he had given me.

“Shit.”

It was hard as hell. Probably meant for shifters with sharp teeth.

He turned and looked at me.

“Are you ok?”

I was embarrassed. I was over here smacking and crunching while he was having a moment.

“I’m fine. Are you ok?” I asked, trying to wipe the crumbs off the robe.

He nodded his head. “Yes.”

Jaceon had told me that being in close proximity to him had sent me into heat. Which was the craziest thing? He had taken care of me. Dressed me. Got me this lounger.

Yeah. But he kidnapped you, too. So, there’s that.

But I couldn’t lie. The way he was standing there with his head down upset me. I had watched the way he had fought against his body all morning. The way the slick was pouring out of me, I knew he could smell it. He was a dragon. That had to be overwhelming.

I thought about the heat of his skin as he had picked me up and put me on this lounger. Even though he was in a rut, he had been a gentleman.

I looked down and brushed against the soft fabric of the lounger. These things had gone viral on TikTok. But in no way could I imagine Jaceon sitting there holding a phone, looking at videos.

Maybe he was more of a Tinder guy. Swiping right. But that didn’t seem right either.

I couldn’t really get a read on him. He wasn’t really the strong, silent type, but he wasn’t a chatterbox either. Maybe he was a reader. I sat back and thought about it. A man like him reading a book could be sexy as hell.

I raised an eyebrow and looked him up and down.

“Why are you looking at me like that?” he asked.

I tried to make my face blank.

“I was just wondering how you got this boneless couch. They were all sold out. I didn’t take you for the type to be on TikTok.”

He shook his head. “I’m not. But apparently this town is.”

The way he said it caught my attention.

“You say it like you aren’t too fond of Shadow Wolf Creek.”

He sat down and rubbed the side of his head. “It’s not that. I’m just not used to it. Where I come from, it’s different.”

“And where is that?”

He shrugged. “Somewhere far away.”

“I’m guessing the people aren’t that nice.”

“It’s not about nice. It’s boundaries. It’s an order.

It’s knowing who is who and what’s what.

Where I’m from, if somebody was all in your business, you would know you had a leak in your system.

Somebody is after information. Or a snake that had infiltrated.

But here they just chat because it’s Tuesday. ”

“What about you? Do you like it here?”

“Yeah, I do. My mom loves it here, and I like it when I visit. It’s quiet. Safer than the city.”

“You don’t mind living among shifters?”

I shook my head. “No. Shifters haven’t caused me any problems.”

He looked up.

“But humans have?” he asked.

I nodded.

“So that’s how you hurt your feet.”

I looked down at my foot.

I thought about how I had run through the townhouses, going from door to door, begging for someone to open the door and let me in. No one did. I had been helpless to protect my baby. I would do anything to never feel that way again.

Jaceon walked over and sat down beside me. The lounger dipped under him, and I slid a little toward him. This heat was making me want to be close to him despite the fact that I barely knew him. But I couldn’t lie. I liked what he had shown me. Even just the smell of him was comforting.

But right now, I don’t have time to think about my conflicting feelings. I needed to lock this deal in, so I could go back to town and get this evidence before David called another custody hearing.

“What’s wrong?”

“I’ll do it. I’ll take the deal. I’ll stay through your rut.”

He didn’t say anything.

“But I want you to send me the rest of the money first.”

He nodded once. He pulled his phone out of his pocket.

“I still have your information.”

He turned the phone so I could see the screen.

I sat there looking at the screen, at all those zeroes. I immediately thought I was seeing things. Did he just transfer half a million dollars to me? That was crazy. Was he scamming me? Was I going to deposit the money and have the damn feds after me?

Before I could say anything, my phone started ringing.

I picked it up. It was an automated voice saying that fraud had been detected on my account and that I had to speak to an agent.

At the same time, Jaceon’s phone rang too.

He stood up and cleared his throat. “Yes. This is Jaceon Smith. Yes, I did authorize the transfer. It was direct from my LLC. It was a business transfer. Ok.”

He hung up the phone. I saw him clicking around. Then he asked for my banking information.

I gave it to him.

“Hang up the phone,” he said.

I had forgotten I was still on. The automated voice was still going in my ear.

He sat down next to me.

“Sorry about that. I wasn’t thinking. Sending a transfer that big hit the fraud button. But what I can do is send it to you in increments. Or we can go pick up a cashier’s check. Let me know what you want to do.”

“Just send it to me in increments.”

He nodded his head and clicked around.

I sat back. I didn’t even need it to be there in its entirety. Not in one day. It was still going to be enough to get things rolling. I just had to ride this out and then get home on the first thing smoking.

This was going to change everything for me. I was never going to have to worry about Zoe's and my safety again. With that much cash, I could hire another IT team if I had to.

All I had to do was get through these next few days.

What was the worst that could happen?

His eyes glowed as he looked at me.

“Come here,” he said as he set the phone down. I scooted over to him and closed my eyes as he pressed his lips against mine.

He gripped the back of my neck and pushed me back onto the bed.

I grabbed the blanket in my fists, waiting for him to rip my clothes off or throw me against the wall, but instead, all I felt was the softness of his lips against me.

His hand slid under the sash of the robe.

It fell open. He slid his hand under my shirt and lifted that and the bra off, and then he circled my nipple with his thumb.

I arched into him as he gently lifted the bra off and took my nipple into his mouth. He kissed down my stomach.

I cried out as his mouth closed over my clit.

I grabbed his head. He sucked it gently.

My legs started shaking. He pulled back and parted my lips with his tongue.

He slid it deep inside of me. My sides heaved and my toes locked.

He pushed his tongue in deeper. The pressure was building, and I tried to move away.

He put his hand on my belly, keeping me in place.

He crawled up over me.

He pulled his pants down and grabbed his manhood by the base. It was long and thick, already leaking at the tip. There was a swollen ring around the bottom. I stared at it and shook my head.

“It’s too big, Jaceon. I can’t take it.”

“Yes, you can,” he said, voice low and rough. “The slick will help. Just trust me. I'm not going to hurt you.”

He slid the head of his dick up and down through the wetness between my legs, coating himself in it. Then he pressed the tip against me and pushed in slowly.

I gasped at the stretch.

“You have to relax,” he gritted out. “Let me in.”

His thumb traced my cheek. My body trembled, and I let out a breath.

“Just like that,” he said as he snapped his hips. “Let go of that blanket and hold on to me.”

I reached up and wrapped my arms around his neck. He leaned down and kissed me. I tasted my slick on his lips.

His hand locked tight around mine. His other arm slid under my back and pressed me against his chest. Every stroke was deeper than the last. I could feel the pressure building.

I didn't know how long I was going to last. He went from slow, controlled strokes to fast strokes.

His eyes changed colors, and his body felt like it was on fire.

He gripped my hips tighter. He pulled out, and thick ropes of come shot out on my belly.
