Chapter Thirty-Eight #3
“It’s not that I don’t think you’re loyal to me, Bones. But in the grand scheme of things, you guys know all of these things about me, and I know nothing about you. If I can’t expect my family to stick around, then how can I expect a bunch of relative strangers to?”
“We’ve not been strangers since the day we met,” I reply. “There’s not one atom of my being that doubts that in every past lifetime I’ve ever been, a part of us were destined to be soulmates. It just took us a little time to find each other in this one.”
She smiles. “Well, in the next one, can you not take so long to track me down? A little less trauma might make me less spicy.”
“I don’t know about you, but I like a little seasoning in my food.
” My tongue darts out to wet my lips; dehydration from the session and looking after her, but forgetting about myself, is starting to take hold, and my lips are dry.
A blush creeps up her neck from the outline of her hoodie and spreads over her face.
Fuck, she’s beautiful. I can’t wait to officially make her mine.
“Kiss me,” she says.
“Quinn, don’t. I can’t.”
She rears back, but I grab hold of her to keep her close.
“Listen to me. Look me in the eyes.” She does as she’s told.
“I want to. Fuck, I want to kiss your face and make my way down your entire fucking body before making you come until the stars light up the darkness inside your mind like never before. But we agreed that I would be your therapist first. What’s changed? ”
“You’ll think it’s silly.” She turns her head to avoid my stare.
I pull her face back, keeping her head in place with my finger under her head and my thumb on her chin.
Not hard, but firm enough that she knows I mean business.
“The things that came out today. I’m scared about what could come out in the next few days.
About what you could hear. I don’t want something you hear to put you off or scare you away. ”
I pull her into my chest and squeeze her tightly. “Nothing I could ever hear would put me off. We’re written in the stars, Little Magpie.”
“You told me when I needed reassurance to ask for it. And that’s what I’m doing. In this moment, words aren’t enough. Consider it exposure therapy. You wouldn’t want to break your very first promise to me now, Bones, would you?” Her eyes trace my face, a glint in them I’ve never seen before.
Damn it, she’s fucking got me there.
“No, Little Magpie, I wouldn’t.” Before my mind can process its thoughts, my mouth opens. “Fuck it.”
I dive for her mouth before I can second-guess my decision, internally thankful I wet my lips previously. Who knew foreshadowing was a thing? Our lips connect, and fireworks shoot off in my brain. They’re soft, pillowy. Like her lips could consume mine and I’d never get bored of it.
She’s hesitant to kiss me back, so I pull away. “What’s wrong?”
She looks embarrassed before she says, “I don’t know how to do this properly. My ex always said my kissing was worse than my blow jobs and would avoid doing it. Whenever we would kiss, he would laugh at me afterwards.”
“Well, my little magpie, luckily for you, I’m an excellent teacher.”
I tuck her loose tendrils of hair behind her ears and place my hands, either side of her neck, my thumbs brushing against her cheeks. I bite my bottom lip, taking in the moment, because I know once I go in for this kiss, the boundaries are out the window, and I won’t look back.
“Close your eyes,” I tell her, and she does as she’s told.
“Good girl,” I whisper. She whimpers into my mouth as I press my lips against hers once again.
I use my tongue, encouraging her to open her mouth, and she finally kisses me back.
Our tongues connect, and I suck on hers.
Her whimpers grow louder, and I feel her relax into it as she explores my mouth with her own tongue, sucking on the bar that pierces my own.
The scent of cinnamon and peaches eclipses my senses, our kiss becoming hungrier.
The sound of the others in the kitchen has become unintelligible, my ears addicted to the sounds of her moans.
Her hands explore my body, but mine stay put.
If I move them now, it’s game over, and she deserves more than a quickie in the room where she processes her trauma.
We both pull back, breathless. I try to speak, but my brain and my mouth can’t connect.
“Well, Bones, I have to say, that was worth breaking the rules for, don’t you think?”
If I believed in Heaven, I’d be telling you I quite simply just passed away, and that’s where you’d find me
Quinn
I’ve been a reader of romance novels for my whole life.
I’ve watched countless rom-coms and series where the couples fall in love and live happily ever after.
I’ve wished for the moment where I would experience a kiss that made my foot pop.
Now I don’t need to wish anymore. Because fuck foot-popping kisses, I feel like I’m levitating.
If that’s how his mouth makes me feel when we’re trying to be good, then you best believe my pussy is fluttering at how I’m going to feel when Dr Bones is being bad.
