Chapter 2 Maverick Bishop #3
She settled over his lap, and his hand remained at the back of her head, keeping her upright as he kissed her over and over again.
He took her lower lip between his mouth, lingering there softly before moving to her upper lip and giving it the same attention, kissing it again and again.
Her body seemed to explode with a pleasure she had never felt before.
Maverick was hungry, his mouth moving over hers with an intensity that left her breathless.
Then Rose’s mouth left his lips, only to move down to his neck.
She licked him over and over again, her mouth moving along his neck as she kissed him. She moved from one side of his neck to the other, lingering there before moving back again, her lips and tongue tracing over his skin.
The sensation raced through every inch of his body.
Maverick had never put so much strain on himself as he was putting in that moment. His jaw tightened, and his breathing grew heavier as Rose continued moving from one side of his neck to the other before returning to his mouth again.
Finally, she lifted her head back.
His gaze traveled from her mouth up to her eyes, his expression hardening as he looked directly into them.
“Look at me,” he said.
Their gazes locked, clashing as they stared into each other’s eyes.
“You know who I am?” he asked.
His voice was calm yet dark at the same time, carrying something familiar that made Rose pause.
Recognition flashed through Rose at once.
Her drunken eyes wandered over his face, taking in every familiar feature she had spent so much time pretending not to notice.
Up close, it was impossible not to.
Her arms tightened around his neck as she leaned closer to him.
Then a small smile appeared at the corner of her mouth.
“Maverick?” She blinked slowly, a small smile tugging at her lips. “I’ve always wanted to kiss you… even though you always looked at me like you wanted to kill me.”
He was wearing a fitted white shirt, the sleeves stretched over his broad shoulders and muscular arms before disappearing beneath the cuffs. His black pants emphasized the length of his legs, making him look even more imposing sitting beneath her.
Then her gaze dropped to his hand.
A platinum ring rested on the middle finger of his left hand, catching the light as he held her. Beneath it, dark tattoos disappeared beneath the sleeve, winding up his wrist. She had never seen how far they went, but somehow, she had always suspected they covered much more of him.
His tattoos. His jewelry. That calm, icy expression.
Everything about him carried the same cold, rebellious edge that had always made him stand apart from everyone else.
Even now, with her sitting in his lap, he looked completely in control.
And somehow, that only made her want to get closer.
Her arms tightened around his neck as she leaned toward him. A small smile curved her lips.
A flicker crossed his face.
Something dark.
Something primal.
The familiar shadows she had always sensed whenever his eyes landed on her suddenly deepened, turning his expression into something far more dangerous. The intensity of it sent a strange shiver through her, and her entire body went taut as though an electric current had suddenly surged through her.
Then Maverick's hand shot up and caught the back of her head.
His mouth crashed over hers.
The kiss was so sudden and intense that Rose barely had time to breathe. His lips moved against hers with a demanding certainty that left her mind completely blank, drowning out every thought except the sensation of him.
She was still sitting in his lap, her hands instinctively gripping his broad shoulders. Her fingers curled tighter into his shirt as the kiss deepened, and she struggled to catch her breath.
His mouth moved from hers to her throat and then along her neck, leaving a trail of heated kisses against her skin.
Rose went completely still, her hands tightening even more around his shoulders.
She had never felt such overwhelming pleasure before. Every kiss sent an electric shiver through her, leaving her breathless and unable to think clearly.
And yet, somehow, she couldn't pull away.
The man sitting beneath her had always been the one who scared the living daylights out of her, yet at the same time, he was the one who could make her feel such a thrill with nothing more than a glance.
As his lips moved over her skin, it felt as though a dark fantasy she had secretly carried for far too long was suddenly coming to life.
The dark dreams she had once imagined about him seemed to blur with reality until she could no longer tell where one ended and the other began.
Then he parted from her.
He grabbed the top she was wearing by the hem and lifted it over her head, tossing it aside. As his mouth moved lower, his fingers worked at the fastening of her clothes, the quiet snap of the buckle breaking through the darkness.
The room seemed to grow even darker as Rose’s eyes fluttered closed. She forgot everything except the overwhelming pleasure rushing through her as his mouth moved lower and engulfed her nipple.
