Chapter 11 Pregnant #2
Juliet folded her arms across her chest.
"As for Vincent, you can keep him."
Her voice was calm.
Indifferent.
Almost bored.
"I don't want him anymore."
Alexa blinked in surprise.
Juliet's lips curled into a mocking smile.
"Actually, you can keep both the dress and the man."
Her gaze deliberately swept over Alexa from head to toe before returning to her face.
"I don't want anything that's already been used by someone else."
The words landed like a slap.
Alexa's face instantly lost all color.
Juliet tilted her head slightly, her eyes filled with open disgust.
"It's only someone like you who would happily accept another woman's leftovers."
Alexa's face burned with fury, her chest rising and falling with sharp, uneven breaths as she glared at Juliet.
Her hands were clenched so tightly at her sides that her knuckles had turned white, and for a moment, she genuinely looked as though she was only seconds away from completely losing control.
Then, unexpectedly, she forced herself to calm down.
Drawing in a slow breath, she straightened her posture and lifted her chin. One hand moved through her messy hair, smoothing it back as though she could somehow restore her dignity despite the dirt smudged across her face and the mud staining her expensive clothes.
A smug smile slowly spread across her lips.
The anger in her eyes faded, replaced by pure arrogance.
"You can say whatever the fuck you want," she said confidently.
Her smile widened.
"But the truth is that I'm pregnant with Vincent's child."
The moment the words left her mouth, pride practically radiated from her entire body.
Her hand instinctively drifted to her stomach, fingers lightly brushing over it as though she were already imagining the future she believed she had secured. Excitement sparkled in her eyes as she stared at Juliet, eagerly waiting for the reaction she had spent all night fantasizing about.
Tears. Heartbreak. A complete emotional breakdown.
Anything.
Instead, Juliet simply stood there.
For a brief second, surprise flickered across her face.
Her eyebrows lifted slightly.
Then the expression disappeared as quickly as it had come.
"Congratulations."
Juliet's voice was flat.
Completely unimpressed.
"A dog got a bitch pregnant."
She raised an eyebrow and folded her arms across her chest.
"What exactly does that have to do with me?"
The smile on Alexa's face instantly stiffened.
The reaction wasn't what she had expected.
Not even close.
Her expression darkened as frustration flashed through her eyes.
Juliet wasn't supposed to be this calm.
She was supposed to be devastated.
She's pretending.
Alexa immediately latched onto the thought.
She has to be dying inside.
After all, Juliet and Vincent had been together for years.
There was absolutely no way she could be completely unaffected.
The idea soothed her bruised ego almost immediately.
A smug look returned to her face.
Crossing her arms over her chest, she raised her chin and looked down her nose at Juliet as though she had already won.
"I want you to sign the cancellation of your engagement."
Juliet merely looked at her.
"I'm already pregnant with Vincent's child," Alexa continued arrogantly. "So there's no reason for you to marry him anymore."
Her hand once again settled possessively over her stomach.
"I'll be the one marrying him. So stop standing in our way." The confidence in her voice suggested she already considered herself Mrs. Vincent Jacobs. "We're getting married."
Juliet simply stared at her.
Then she tilted her head slightly.
The gesture alone made Alexa feel as though she were talking to a particularly annoying child.
"I already sent you the papers," Alexa continued impatiently. "Sign them right now."
"Sent them where?" Juliet asked.
The question made Alexa stare at her as though she had completely lost her mind.
"To your email. Where else?" she snapped. "Check it right now."
Juliet didn't bother arguing.
With a small shrug, she turned and walked toward the coffee table.
Alexa immediately followed her with her eyes, anticipation growing stronger with every step.
Juliet pulled her laptop closer and opened it.
The apartment fell silent except for the sound of keys clicking beneath her fingers.
Within less than a minute, she found the email.
Sure enough, the documents were attached.
Alexa stood nearby, practically vibrating with excitement.
Her eyes never left Juliet's face.
Waiting.
Watching.
Searching desperately for even the slightest sign of pain.
Juliet opened the documents and skimmed through them once.
A faint smile tugged at the corner of her lips.
The agreement was exactly what she had expected.
According to the document, she would walk away from Vincent with nothing. No profits. No shares. No compensation. Not even the deals she had personally negotiated and brought into the company over the years.
How generous of Vincent.
Without saying a word, Juliet opened the editing panel.
Her fingers moved calmly across the keyboard.
Line after line changed.
Clause after clause disappeared.
The original agreement was quickly replaced with a revised version stating that Juliet would remain entitled to all profits, commissions, and revenue derived from every contract, partnership, and business deal she had personally negotiated and brought to Vincent throughout their relationship.
After all, those deals had never belonged to Vincent in the first place.
Why should she leave empty-handed?
Once she finished, Juliet reviewed the document one final time before sending it to the printer.
The quiet hum of the machine filled the apartment as page after page slid into the output tray.
Juliet gathered the papers, flipped through them once to confirm everything was correct, then reached for a pen.
There wasn't the slightest trace of hesitation.
No sadness.
No anger.
No regret.
Nothing.
Her expression remained calm and detached as she signed each page one after another.
The sound of the pen gliding across the paper seemed unusually loud in the silence of the room.
When she finished signing the final page, she set the pen down and neatly stacked the documents together.
Alexa's eyes widened slightly.
Even she hadn't expected Juliet to agree so easily.
A strange feeling briefly crept into her chest.
Something almost resembling disappointment.
The victory felt far less satisfying when her opponent refused to fight.
Once she finished signing, Juliet gathered the papers into a neat stack.
Then, without even looking at Alexa, she casually tossed them toward her.
The documents struck Alexa squarely in the chest before fluttering to the floor around her feet.
"What the hell—"
Her face instantly twisted with anger.
Grinding her teeth, she crouched down and hurriedly gathered the scattered pages.
But the moment her eyes landed on Juliet's signature, every trace of irritation vanished.
Her eyes lit up.
Excitement immediately flooded her face.
She flipped through every page one by one, checking the signatures repeatedly as though afraid they might somehow disappear.
When she finally confirmed they were real, a victorious smile spread across her lips. Satisfaction practically glowed from her expression.
Meanwhile, Juliet looked completely bored.
"Now get lost."
Juliet closed her laptop with a quiet click.
"I don't have time for you."
The smile on Alexa's face faltered.
"You really are such a bitch, Juliet," she muttered bitterly.
Juliet couldn't even be bothered to respond.
Instead, she rose from the couch and walked straight toward her.
Alexa instinctively frowned.
Before she could react, Juliet grabbed her shoulder.
"Hey—"
Alexa's eyes widened.
Before she could finish speaking, Juliet shoved her toward the door.
Alexa stumbled forward in surprise, nearly losing her balance.
The triumphant smile vanished from her face.
"Juliet!"
Ignoring her completely, Juliet continued pushing her toward the exit.
Alexa barely had time to recover before she found herself standing outside in the hallway.
The next second—
SLAM!
The apartment door shut directly in her face.
The loud sound echoed through the corridor.
For several seconds, silence filled the apartment.
Juliet remained standing by the door, staring at it as though she could still feel Alexa's presence lingering outside.
Then she slowly released a long breath.
"Jesus fucking Christ."
Closing her eyes, she rubbed her forehead and pinched the bridge of her nose.
"I can't believe there are this many idiots in my life."
