CHAPTER EIGHT #2

I roll my eyes without thought. “I’m glad you’re so amused, sweetheart.

” I look over at Darius. “I’ll make sure to keep my hands to myself around you.

Besides, you’re not really my type. I like them with a little more junk in the trunk.

” The giggles get even louder, and Darius does a double step as he leads us to a room.

Growing up with three brothers prepared me for some things in life.

Darius finds his professionalism and shows us an exam room.

He opens a cabinet, takes something out, and hands it to Kinsley.

“Same thing as last time. I’ll leave so you can get undressed.

Doctor Hargrave should be in shortly. She’ll probably have me come in afterward to take some blood again.

Dad, there’s a stool on the other side for you to sit on. ” He walks out and shuts the door.

About five minutes later, there is a knock on the door, and then it opens.

Doctor Hargrave comes into the room and gives Kinsley a smile.

“How’s our mom-to-be today? I see you brought someone with you this time.

” Smart that she didn’t just assume I’m the dad.

Kinsley gestures toward me. “This is Emmett, and he’s the daddy.

” The doctor gives me a smile in greeting.

“Well, should we see if we can tell what you’re having today?

Hopefully, your little one cooperates today.

Have you been having any odd pains or bouts of morning sickness?

” Kinsley tells her that her right side hurts a bit, especially when she sleeps on that side.

I watch the doctor notate it in her chart before she sets it down.

I take Kinsley’s hand in mine as we both watch the doctor as she checks Kinsley out.

Doctor Hargrave turns the machine on and starts moving the wand over Kinsley’s abdomen.

The noise from the machine changes. “Hear that? That’s your little one’s heartbeat.

It’s strong. That’s a good thing.” She moves the wand around a bit more and presses a button on the machine.

“Well, Mom and Dad, it looks like you are going to have a little girl.”

A daughter. I’m gonna have a little princess. I look at Kinsley and tears stream down her face. I can’t not kiss her, so I lean in and give a peck. “We’re gonna have a little you, sweetheart.” She nods but adds in, “I hope she has your eyes. Booker does, so I’m hoping that’s a dominant trait.”

Doctor Hargrave looks around a bit more and has the machine print out some images for us.

Once she’s done, she turns off the machine and looks at both of us.

“Your baby looks healthy and is a good size for how far along you are. I’m gonna get Darius to come back in and get some blood for a few tests just to make sure everything looks good on that front.

When you leave, make sure to stop by the front desk to schedule your appointment for next month.

Do you have any questions for me right now? ”

Kinsley shakes her head. “Not that I can think of right now. You answered the biggest one I’ve had over the last few weeks.

” The doctor says her goodbyes and leaves us so Kinsley can change before the nurse returns.

I help Kinsley sit up so she can change.

She stops and looks at me with a big smile.

“Your mom is going to be so excited to get a girl in the family!” I lean in and kiss her.

“She’s excited for any grandbaby, but I think this one is gonna be spoiled with all her uncles and grandpas wrapped around her finger.

She’s gonna learn that from her mama.” Kinsley gives me a kiss and gets down to changing so she’s ready for Mister Mcflirty to come back in. Can’t believe I’m gonna be a girl dad.

**********

Last night we had dinner with Kinsley’s dad and his partner, Erik.

As we were arriving at the restaurant, we found out that her brothers invited themselves along when they heard we were having dinner together.

I’m kinda scared to see them and Cash get to know one another.

The world might never recover. Grant looked genuinely excited when Kinsley shared that we’re having a girl. Glad to see he’s coming around.

Kinsley was too excited to wait, so, after dinner, we went over to Mom and Dad’s and told them.

Mom went supersonic with her excitement.

She’s already over the moon to have Kinsley around, but a little baby girl?

We may never have to buy her clothes. Mom spoils Booker plenty, so I know this baby won’t be any different, but I do foresee a lot of pink and glitter from Mom in the future.

This morning I got up quietly in hopes of letting Kinsley sleep a little longer since it is Saturday morning.

She’s not officially moved in yet, but she hasn’t spent a night at her apartment in weeks.

I make her current favorite breakfast of pancakes with bacon.

I even found the huckleberry syrup she’s been wanting to put on the pancakes.

I’ve got a cup of the mint tea steeping.

Ever since Mom introduced her to it, Kinsley swears it helps with the nausea, and I know better than to argue that it’s probably just because she’s further along now.

I have learned my woman is getting more emotional as the weeks go on, and I’m not one to rock the boat with her.

I hate to see her cry, and I hate to be the reason even more.

It’s why I currently have three boxes of said mint tea in the cupboard.

I might have witnessed a meltdown when she ran out a couple of days ago, and I don’t plan to repeat that anytime soon.

I get all the breakfast on a tray and add her teacup and my coffee mug.

I heard her starting to rustle around the bed a few minutes ago, so I know I have a short window before she gets up for the day.

I walk into the bedroom, and Kinsley must have heard me because she looks over to me and sits up.

“You made me breakfast in bed?” I give her a smile.

“I honestly thought that only happened in my books. I don’t know anyone who’s ever actually had that happen to them. ”

I set the tray down on the bed between us.

“We always did it for Mom on Mother’s Day, with Dad’s help, of course.

” I hand her the mug with her tea. She looks over the tray.

“You made me pancakes? Oh! And you found the syrup I’ve been wanting for ages!

” I sip my coffee. “I did. Turns out that the gift shop on the way to the mountain has a bunch of huckleberry stuff, so I bought a few bottles.”

Before she can dive into the pancakes, I let it all out.

“Sweetheart, I would make you breakfast in bed every weekend if that made you happy. I want to spend the rest of my life making you happy and living life with you. I wasn’t looking for you when you literally crashed into my life, but the second I looked into your eyes, I was gone.

You are the person I want to experience things with.

You’re the one I want to grow old with and retire with.

Your laughter…your laughter is the music I want to listen to every day of my life.

” I reach out and take her hand in mine, having slipped the ring out of my pocket when I set the tray down.

“Kinsley, will you make me the happiest man in the county and agree to marry me and be my wife?”

Kinsley

My tears started because Emmett made me breakfast, but now they’re uncontrollable.

I can’t imagine ever loving someone as much as I love him.

I know I’m nodding my head, but the man always says to use words, so my brain finally kicks in.

“Yes! Yes, I’ll marry you. I can’t believe you did all this for me.

” He slides a beautiful ring on my finger.

I try to wipe the tears away quickly so I can lean in and kiss him.

I kiss him with all the emotion I feel. I’m in love with this man in such a way that I can’t ever think of myself not loving him with all of me. He breaks the kiss. “The pancakes are getting cold.” I look over at the tray of food and have an idea. Got to love pregnancy hormones for my bravery.

“I think I would like to use a little of that syrup on something else for the first time.” I stand up and move the tray over to the dresser to be out of the way, and so Murph can’t sneak in and get the pancakes.

Because you better believe that after this, I’m gonna eat every last bite of them.

Hello, pregnant woman who’s never turned down a carb in her life here.

I take the bottle of huckleberry syrup off the tray and walk back to Emmett, who’s sitting on the bed and looking at me with an unsure expression. I step up to stand right in front of him. “Sweetheart, what exactly did you have in mind?”

I lean down and give him a kiss, and then, as gracefully as I can, get on my knees in front of him. “I was thinking of trying a little bit of this on the tip of something other than my breakfast first. I was hoping my fiancé would get on board with that.”

I’m not sure if it was a whimper or a groan that comes out first, but Emmett finds his words a moment later.

“I mean, what my woman wants, she gets. Who am I to say no to that?” I reach up and help him pull down his pajama pants, and he kicks them off.

I don’t have to worry about him not being aroused as I’m face-to-face with it.

I open the bottle and pour the smallest amount onto his head, which is already glistening in the light.

I lean forward and take as much as I can into my mouth at one time.

As I pull back, I lick the syrup off the tip, and Emmett lets out a deep, long moan.

“Fuck…you do that so fucking well.” I love how anytime we have sex or I give him a blow job, his swearing exponentially increases.

It’s his sign that his control is slipping,

I start at a slow pace, enjoying drawing this out for him.

He’s always so giving, and I want him to enjoy this.

I don’t use enough syrup to make things a sticky mess, but the berry flavor lingers.

I slowly speed the pace up, still not very quick, but his moans are getting longer and louder, telling me I’m doing something right and he’s getting closer to the edge.

Another minute or so, and Emmett pulls back.

I look up at him. “I want to finish buried inside of my future wife.” Well, how in the hell can I say no to that?

He helps me stand up and, in the same movement, takes off my nightgown.

“I swear, every time I see you naked, you get even more beautiful. I want to watch that beauty this morning.” He lies down on the bed, and I climb on top of him.

He reaches down to guide himself into me.

As he slides all the way in me, I feel so full.

I’ve started to crave that feeling a lot lately.

Emmett gets me out of my thoughts. “Sweetheart, eyes on me. I want your eyes this whole time.” I look at him, and the heat, mixed with love, is an intense feeling.

I move slowly up and down, not breaking eye contact.

I’m getting close, and the urge to throw my head back is almost overwhelming, but I keep focused on Emmett.

He rewards me by moving his hand and fingering my clit.

“Oh hell, right there.” Emmett groans as I move my hips to give his fingers better access.

“Sweetheart, please tell me you’re fucking close.

I’m so fucking close and can’t hold back much longer.

” I nod just as he hits the right spot. I don’t know if it’s a scream, shout, or somewhere in between, but it comes out, and my body shakes from my orgasm.

Emmett comes as I’m still shaking. He roars, “FFFUUUCCCKKK!” I move to lie on him but have to move to his side, my bump making it impossible for me to lie otherwise.

Emmett turns his head toward me. “I wasn’t expecting that this morning, but that was intense and amazing.

I’m so glad you said yes. I can’t wait to be married to you.

” I lean over and give him a kiss. “I can’t wait either.

I love you, and I’m about to go devour the pancakes you made me.

I haven’t gotten enough of that syrup yet. ”

Emmett chuckles and hands me a napkin. “Baby, if huckleberry syrup does that to you, I’m gonna stock it by the case.”
