Chapter Four #2

“Hunting Lady. He asks that you stay but accepts that you will go home.”

Hunting…. He meant going after those men. She should demand he stop, leave it to security but in that moment, she didn’t want to. “He’s right. I’ll rest at home.”

After she’d showered, changed into clothing, they took her home, fed her, gave her more water and insisted she go to bed.

She did. Messaging her office on the attack and that she’d be off for a few days.

She wasn’t stupid. She needed to process.

Stripping down to T and panties, she used the bathroom and slipped between the sheets finding rest.

Waking to daylight, she went back to sleep.

Waking next time to a shower on. Someone was in her house. Sleepily she stretched her eyes realising her weapon was not on her nightstand. The shower going off and footsteps coming out the ensuite. Kito. Soaking wet in a low-slung towel. Her mouth dried. And she shut down her emotions.

“You’re trespassing.” She told him.

Coming to her he smirked, steam rising from his body drying it. Something all Cyborgs could do. Regulating their heat. “B&E maybe.”

Coming to the bedside, he removed the towel and got in. Her mouth dropped. He smirked again. Lifting the covers getting in. “I did not invite you.”

“No.” Reaching for her dragging her over his chest holding her to him.

“I’m not agreeing.”

“No. Go to sleep.” She sighed and did.

Waking to being surrounded by heat. His hand brushed her back. “Feel better?” he asked.

“Yeah. Why are you here Kito?”

He was quiet for a moment. “You were injured.”

“You recorded a Mate status to the Empire. You should be with her.” He was quiet again. “Did you find them?”

His hand stroked her lower back. “Yes.”

“They dead?”

“Yes.”

She didn’t know what to say to that. He was Empire, they had their own rules. Their own code. Elon would have done the same. “Time?” she asked.

“You would be getting up for work.”

“I need to go back.”

“Not today. You need to rest.”

Pulling away from him he let her. “Bathroom, food and coffee.” She told him walking into the ensuite. “Then see.”

Coming out in a robe, Kito was gone and the smell of food cooking and coffee was in the air.

Going down he was in low-hanging cargos, no top, cooking at the stove.

Leaving it, he poured her coffee nodding to the seat at the Island.

She took both. Drinking. Watching him. Not really focused on the food.

Holding onto the shreds of her shields. Seeing him bring her a plate.

French toast. Bacon. Eggs and veggies. “Smells great, thank you.”

Loading his own sitting opposite her.

Both eating in silence for a while. “You should take another day off.” He told her.

She shook her head. “I feel fine work to do.”

He didn’t argue. “How's the investigation into the discrepancies?” He told her.

They were on it. Nothing more she could do. “Your man Zee. He’s good. Could lead.”

She nodded. “Doesn’t want it, I asked.”

“Did you want it?”

“Nope.” Enough said. Not wanting it didn’t mean you couldn’t do it. She was proof of that.

He looked around. “Still selling?”

“Not sure actually. There are moments when it feels like home.”

“Like now?” She didn’t answer. He didn’t push. “You are not on the Hub as a child, your first 4 years are missing.”

She stilled. “That’s private.” And pushed her plate away. Cranked her neck. “Got to get dressed, time to work.”

Kito went with her. Her vehicle wasn’t at the house, his was.

Taking no chances or argument, he went in with her. Ignoring the concern of everyone as her people greeted her, asked after her wellbeing, if she was ok. Reassuring them all. Making her way to her desk.

It took longer than she’d have liked.

And just inside her door way when a commotion at the lifts drew her attention back into the main room.

The on-world Commander walked in with two men who stood by the lift doors waiting.

Her eyes went to Kendra who paled but didn’t run.

Then the lift door pinged and out stepped another Cyborg.

Commanding the room without even trying, walking passed everyone standing in the middle of the room facing her.

She squealed. Way too needy. Protocol forgotten, everything forgotten and ran. “Papa!”

Running to him launching herself leaping up he caught her like he always had. Holding her to him. Closing her eyes breathing him in. He’d come. Not realising how much she’d needed him until that moment. “Those men better be dead child of mine.” He told her plainly.

She laughed. Nestling in. “You came.”

“I will always come child. You know this.”

She did. They held for a moment longer, her breathing him in. That familiar scent, warmth and feel. Realising the room was so quiet. She looked up at him. His gaze intense looking her over. “I am well.” She told him answering the unspoken question.

He gave a nod and put her down gently.

“I hear you took on 5 men and beat them down. Remained standing.” Pride in his voice.

She smiled up at him. “You trained me well father.” Seeing the room watching them. She inwardly sighed and turned. “Everyone, may I introduce Commander and Empire Councillor Elon. My father.”
