Chapter 11 #2

He woke early again the next morning to head into work, but he slid his cock into her from behind and used her thoroughly before showering and leaving. And she had zero complaints about it, since he worked her nipples enough to hurt and gave her an explosive orgasm that put her right back to sleep.

She woke a few hours later and began the work of editing — cutting in b-roll, splicing out the boring parts, adding text to the screen where it was needed, and all the other tiny, annoying tasks that turn it from blah to professional.

The closet pieces arrived in more than a dozen large flat boxes, and she brought them in one at a time, stacked them just outside the new walls he’d built, and decided she’d annoy him if she started assembling them, so she left the boxes sealed, lest she be tempted to do just that.

He wanted to build her closet for her, so she’d let him.

Editing never goes fast, and she didn’t rush it, but she was relieved when his text came through a little after four that he’d be leaving in the next thirty minutes.

She was already dressed and ready, a duffel packed to get her through the weekend, so she only had to save everything, send it to the cloud to be certain it was all backed up, lock up, and wait for him to pick her up.

He drove his truck back and forth for his weekends in Chattanooga, since he had to take the restaurant’s meat order to them.

She found out he keeps another motorcycle in Chattanooga, so he can ride with his brothers when it isn’t planned.

When it is, he drives his truck home and gets whatever bike he’ll be using.

She offered to help unload the meat, but he told her to sit tight, so she did.

The ol’ladies welcomed her when they made it across the street, but before she could get a drink, a truck pulled into the lot, and everyone focused on it.

She smelled the pig before she could see it. Not a dead pig, but a real, live pig. In a cage.

The brothers stuck two long poles through the cage and lifted to the ground — and then it was Knife who stepped close and shot the pig in the head without fanfare or drama.

As soon as it was down, they opened the top of the cage, attached the pig to a beam, and then lifted it, walked it to a stand, and hung it.

Tuesday had grown up eating whole-hog barbecue at pack gatherings all her life, but she’d never watched the preparation up close, and she’d never seen it from live pig to meat on a plate.

The men gutted it, cleaned the abdominal cavity, prepped it like experts, and moved the whole damned pig into their huge smoker.

And the smoker made her rethink everything she knew about the MC, because she knew it would run twenty grand at a minimum, and probably closer to thirty.

It was old, so it was possible they’d bought it used, but still. Damn.

Two of the brothers loaded it with aged hickory, and that really caught her attention, because it’d been aged correctly, over time.

“Where do they get the wood?” she asked Harmony, who’d materialized at her elbow with two Long Island teas.

“They age it themselves.” Harmony nodded toward a long, low building near the far fence. “Special ventilation system so the moisture gets out. Brain designed it.” She took a drink of her tea. “Our men are particular about smoking. Do it right or don’t bother.”

“How often do they smoke a whole hog?”

“Five, six times a year. Sometimes more, never less.”

She approved of Knife’s plan, but it was a pain in the ass. She didn’t like not knowing what was happening. Harmony was a font of knowledge though, so she asked, “What else do I need to know about the party?”

“It’ll be more than just us. A lot more.

We usually do a few paintball games. Lots of food, of course.

I’m bringing potato salad because it’s what I always brought back when I was human.

Thing is, I ate a lot of greens back then, but after I was turned, I started preferring, you know…

steaks. Still, they expect my potato salad, and it’s easy enough to make in large quantities. ”

Her stomach dropped, because she didn’t know she was supposed to make food. Shit. “Knife didn’t mention the fact I should make something.”

Harmony shrugged. “You’re new and not really official yet, so it won’t be expected. You can if you want, but he probably didn’t want to put pressure on you. Our parties can be overwhelming when you aren’t used to them.”

“Overwhelming how?”

“Oh, I mean, nothing bad. We even invite LEO, though they don’t often come anymore. Used to, but…” she shrugged. “Just a lot of people, a lot of activity.”

Later that night, when they finally made it to Knife’s room, she told him, “I want to make a dish for tomorrow.”

“You don’t have to. No one will expect you to.”

“I know I don’t have to, but others are bringing dishes, and I’m not showing up empty-handed.”

“You could pick something up—”

She gave him a look that ended his statement before he finished it.

“I can run to my apartment—” she stopped and started again.

“My old apartment, while you have to work tomorrow. I was going to get some editing done, but there’s no big rush on that.

And we haven’t moved my pantry yet, so I’ll only have to pick a few things up on the way.

I already have most of it, and it’ll just be that much less we have to move. ” She sighed. “Can you drive me?”

“Yeah. What are you planning?”

She told him, he nodded, and then produced a glycerin suppository and told her to use it and come back to him naked.
