Knocked Up by My Dad’s Mafia Boss (Crowned in Sin #8)

SAMANTHA

“Sam, if you don’t get your ass down here I’m going to…”

I ignore my father’s idle threats. I know they’re baseless—I’m daddy’s little girl, after all.

I come down the stairs. “Yeah, yeah, I’m coming, what’s the big commotion?”

I see Papa standing at the doorway. “Wanted you to meet someone. Sam, this is Dante Bianchi. My best friend.”

My eyes trail over to the man in question and my steps falter on the stairs. His chest stretches nearly as wide as our front door, a tight black t-shirt spread across it.

He’s tall, towering over my father who’s six-foot-two, and built like a brick house. My eyes travel over his muscles slowly. God, and his jawline? Could cut glass. He looks up at me, his eyes locking with mine immediately.

That’s unusual. I’m a curvy girl, and ninety-nine percent of the time, men trail their eyes up my body before looking at my face. His eyes, impossibly blue, pierce through me like he can see right through my bratty attitude.

“Oh,” I say, stopping in my tracks. “Hello, Mr. Bianchi.”

He’s quiet for a long moment, just staring into my eyes. Like he’s sizing me up. Anyone else would be terrified.

I, on the other hand? I’m exhilarated.

“You can call me Dante,” he says finally, and I let a long breath out of my nostrils to calm my racing heart.

I want to eat him alive. But I can’t act that way in front of my father.

He’s… protective, to say the least. When my first high school boyfriend cheated on me three years ago, he went missing for a week.

Showed up in the hospital with a concussion and a broken collarbone. He never spoke to me again.

“Then you can call me Sammy.”

He nods briskly but doesn’t say my name. Pity. I would have liked to hear what it sounded like in his low timbre.

“My friends are waiting,” I say, almost mournfully, and Papa looks at me for a moment.

“Are there going to be boys there?”

I fight not to roll my eyes. Boys. Like I’m sixteen again.

“No, just me and Sofia.” I lie.

He stares at me like he’s trying to see through my lies and I stare back, not backing down. He sighs. “Alright. Scurry on, then.”

Instead, I walk slowly past Dante, pretending to totter on my heels. He reaches out one hand, grabs my hip bone to steady me. Electricity shoots through my veins. “Thank you,” I murmur, leaning in close, but then my stupid best friend, Sofia, blares the horn.

I’m going to kill her.

“Do you need any money?” Papa calls and I wave a hand dismissively. He gives me a weekly allowance that I could never spend in two lifetimes. Perks of being the only child of a mafia don.

I wonder if Dante is in the life. I’ve never met him before now, and I’m almost twenty-two. Where has he been all this time if he was working for my father? I know that I don’t know much about my father’s business, but if Dante’s his best friend, wouldn’t he want to keep him close?

It’s an enigma. Much like the man himself.

I get into the passenger seat of Sofia’s luxury sedan with a groan. “You have no idea what you’ve just done.”

“I didn’t do anything! You didn’t tell your dad we’re drinking, did you?

” Reese, our other friend, pops up out of the backseat as she pulls out of the driveway.

He always has to hide in the back because Papa doesn’t like me going out with men.

Reese is harmless, of course, and not interested in me anyway, but Papa’s old-school. He wouldn’t get it.

“Don’t be ridiculous. But he introduced me to someone.” I smile slyly. “His best friend.”

Reese gasps. “Is he as hot as Sofia thinks your dad is?”

I squeal and throw my purse at him. “Don’t you ever say my dad is hot again.”

“But your dad is like…objectively hot, Sammy,” Sofia says solemnly. I grab my purse from the backseat and hit her with it, too. She swerves all over the road.

“Okay, cool it!” Reese yells, and I settle down.

“My dad is not hot, but his best friend sure is. His name is Dante and he looks like he could throw me through a brick wall.”

“You do like them big,” Reese comments with a chuckle.

“You’re one to talk. Saw you flirting with Vaughn Ricci.”

“Vaughn’s not like her brother.”

Sofia grins. “Reese likes her.”

“I do not.”

“You like sleeping with her,” I amend for her.

He blinks then nods. “Alright. You got me.”

“More about your father’s hot best friend. Is he single?” Sofia pipes up.

“Didn’t notice a wedding ring.”

“You can’t date your father’s best friend, Sam,” Reese argues.

“Who says anything about dating? He’s probably only in town for a few days. What Papa doesn’t know can’t piss him off,” I say in a sing-song voice.

We arrive at the club and pile out of the car as Sofia throws her keys to the valet.

“Are you hoping Dmitri will show?” I ask Sofia, and her olive skin flushes a deep red. I grin. “I’ll take that as a yes.”

She and Dmitri Oslov have been circling each other like panthers. He’s off-limits, being Bratva and the son of one of her father’s greatest enemies. But that’s never stopped Sofia before.

Sure enough, thirty minutes after we arrive, Dmitri shows up, eyes half-lidded from the weed he’s always smoking.

Just like clockwork, Sofia disappears. And so does our ride home.

“Me and Vaughn will take you back,” Reese offers.

I hiss. “Absolutely not, if my father sees me riding up with a guy he’ll lose his mind.”

Reese shrugs. “I could hide in the backseat again.

I sigh. “I’ll just call Papa when I’m done having fun.”

Reese snorts out a laugh but he dances with me—at least until Vaughn beckons him over to the women’s bathrooms.

I’m tipsy but not quite drunk by the time the lights come up in the club. I totter to the bathroom, my ankles and feet aching from dancing in my heels all night.

I look in the mirror.

Pouty mouth with nude lipstick, amber brown eyes only a little glassy. My eye makeup is smeared, though, and I do some work with a paper towel to fix it.

Why don’t I have some guy chasing me around like Reese and Sofia do? Sure, there’s plenty of guys around who ogle me, but none that actually want to date me.

Not that I’m even that interested. Not in dating, at least. But it sure would be nice to have a guy I could fool around with now and again.

It’s not like I’m some blushing virgin. Far from it. But it’s been… a while.

I head out of the bathrooms and out the back door, standing in the alley for a moment and enjoying the cool air on my flushed skin. Finally, I take my phone out of my bag and call Papa.

“Sam?”

“Hi Papa. I need a ride.”

He frowned. “Sofia ditched you again?’

“Yeah. You know how it goes.”

I don’t mention that it’s Dmitri Oslov that she ditched me for. Sofia’s dad and my dad weren’t exactly friends, but they knew each other. And Sofia’s father would not be happy about her seeing Dmitri or any other member of the Bratva.

“Alright. Send your location and wait outside. I’ll send you a driver.”

I lean against the brick of the building and idly play with my phone, figuring that Armando will show up in his white sportscar soon. He’s my father’s usual driver. Instead, it’s a luxury SUV that pulls up, idling at the corner. It’s sleek black with black rims.

I walk up to it slowly, not sure if it’s my ride. The passenger side window slowly powers down, and Dante Bianchi’s blue eyes meet mine.

I stumble and have to hold onto the car door not to fall. He frowns. “Be careful. Do you need me to get out and help you?”

Yes. “No, I’m fine.”

I slowly open the car door and he puts one big hand on the gearshift. My breath catches, thinking about how his hand had spanned over half my hip. And I have generous hips.

I put on my seatbelt and shut the door, and he takes off, driving fast but not recklessly. He stares straight at the road, shifting gears now and again. “A manual,” I say out loud.

“Hm? Oh, yeah.” His voice is clipped, like he couldn’t care one way or the other.

Mr. Control. I wonder what he looks like when he loses it.

Am I in heat? Why is this man’s proximity making me feel like this? It’s been too long since I’ve been properly fucked. That’s all it is.

“Sexy,” I mutter, and he doesn’t react. “Where have you been all this time, Dante? Seems weird I haven’t met my father’s best friend until now.”

“Overseas.”

He doesn’t give me much more information and I frown. “Sicily?” He nods briskly.

“Can I ask you something?”

He sighs. “Something tells me you’re going to ask me no matter what I say.”

I grin. “You’re right. Do you work for my father?”

“Sometimes.”

“What do you do for him?”

He glances at me as we stop at a red light, and then right back to the road. “You wouldn’t want to know.”

My breath catches in my throat. He’s probably an enforcer, with how big he is. Papa might even make him caputo, let him take care of things in this area. He takes on too much himself.

The fact that Dante likely has blood on his hands doesn’t sway me. In fact, it’s kind of hot. What can I say? I grew up in the life. Violence is a part of it. And a man who can handle himself…

Well. It’s attractive.

“You’re very handsome, Mr. Bianchi.” The alcohol makes me bold as we approach the gate of my father’s mansion. Dante stiffens.

“You shouldn’t say things like that.”

“And why not?”

“You’re just a little girl.”

I scoff. “What part of me looks little to you?”

This time, when he glances at me, I can feel the heat come off him. It’s a hungry glance, one that sweeps over the bare line of my thigh. I spread my legs just slightly and he clears his throat, then looks right back at the road.

I can’t stop grinning as I get out of his SUV and walk inside. I go straight up to my room, not wanting Papa to see the flush on my cheeks.

Dante Bianchi.

The hottest guy I’ve seen in a long time. And my father’s best friend, to boot.

That shouldn’t make me want him more.
