Chapter 21

CHAPTER TWENTY-ONE

Amber

Cold air rushes against my overheated face, but Fallon’s mouth is hot enough to burn. I’m lost in it, in him, in the way his hands grip my waist like I’m his only anchor.

The world spins—the river, the trees, the gray sky—all blurring into a background noise.

“Fallon,” I gasp, tearing my mouth away just enough to breathe. “We need to go back.”

He blinks, his eyes dazed and dark, focused entirely on my lips. He leans back in, chasing them, but I turn my head.

“Seriously. It’s freezing. And we have to get back.” I shiver, and not just from the cold. My whole body feels like a live wire.

He groans but he steps back. He rakes a hand through his hair, messing it up further. “Yeah. Okay. You’re right. Knox is going to kill me if I keep you out here much longer.”

He opens the passenger door of his truck and lifts me up, his hands lingering on my waist before he lets go.

The drive back to town is quiet, but it’s not the heavy silence of before.

It hums with energy. His hand rests on the center console, inches from mine.

I almost reach out and take it, but my heart is beating too fast, my mind racing with the memory of his kiss.

When he pulls up behind Blade it’s the way he looks at me, like I’m the only thing that matters.

It’s a struggle to get his clothes out of the way. We fumble with his belt buckle, the metal clinking in the quiet car.

I tug his boxers and jeans down just enough. He’s hard, thick, and heavy in my hand.

Outside the window, the snow has begun to fall again, soft flakes drifting down to coat the world in white.

“It’s beautiful,” I whisper, looking past his shoulder.

He captures my face in his hands, forcing me to look back at him. “You’re beautiful.”

My chest aches. I stroke him, my thumb brushing over the slick head of his cock. He’s leaking, wet and ready.

I lean down and kiss him, tasting the wine on his tongue.

“Have you been with anyone?” I ask against his lips, my voice trembling. “Since we started... this?”

“Never,” he says, shaking his head. “Not since the moment I saw you in that grocery store.”

I don’t wait any longer. I shift my hips, lining us up. He grips my waist, helping me. I sink down onto him, taking him all in.

“Condom?” he hisses.

“I’m on birth control.”

The stretch is intense, a sweet, full pressure that makes me gasp. He’s inside me, all bare, no barriers between us.

I dig my nails into his shoulders, rocking slowly, adjusting to the size of him.

“Use me, Amber,” he says, his voice ragged. “Take what you need.”

And I do. I move, finding a pace that makes us both shake. The car rocks slightly with every motion, the springs creaking.

The smell of sex fills the small space, musky and mixing with the scent of the wine and his skin.

He feels incredible, especially when he hits a spot deep inside that makes me see stars. I ride him harder, my breath coming in short gasps.

“Amber,” he groans, his head tipping back. “I’m close.”

The pressure building at the base of his cock is growing, swelling against my inner walls. I know what’s coming.

“Knot me,” I whimper, the words slipping out before I can stop them. I want it. I want to be locked to him, to feel him fill me up.

Eli goes still for a heartbeat, his eyes flying open. Then a dark, possessive look overtakes his face. He grips my hips hard enough to bruise and thrusts up into me, one last, powerful stroke.

He goes feral as he does. I feel the swell of his knot lock into place, stretching me wide, and then he’s pulsing, flooding me with heat.

He buries his face in my neck, crying out my name, his whole body shaking. I hold him, my arms wrapped around his neck, riding out the waves of pleasure that crash over me.

We’re stuck together, tied by his biology, floating in the warm darkness of the car while the snow falls silently outside.
