Chapter 5 #2

Isak's eyes went from my face to my chest and back. His mouth opened, then closed. He swallowed hard, and a low, rough sound escaped him.

The suite was quiet. The king bed sat in my sightline, impossible to ignore.

Denil's arm tightened around my waist. His breath against my neck had gone deeper, heavier, and the sound he made when he saw the robe on the floor was not a sound I was prepared for.

Miner's hand stayed on Denil's shoulder. His eyes were on mine.

"Who do you want first?" he asked.

"I want Denil," I said.

The water. The electrolytes. The questions. The careful hands. They'd stacked up until the choice belonged to me instead of the heat, which was its own kind of miracle.

Denil moved to turn me toward him. I stepped back and crawled to the center of the bed on my hands and knees, then presented.

I'd been wet for an hour, the slick ruining my thighs and the robe no help at all.

The air against my exposed skin lasted cool for half a breath.

Then Denil was behind me, chest hot against my back, arm banded across my hips.

He lined himself up with my entrance, the weight of his cock against me not quite real until he nudged the slick folds, fumbled once, and the head of it found the place and paused. Then he went rigid and unmoving, every strained muscle at the edge of control. He waited for me.

I braced, anticipation wound so tightly in my gut I thought I might vibrate out of myself.

He pushed in slowly, trembling with the effort not to thrust. The glide shocked me.

I'd never been this wet, not for anyone, not in any heat.

The first inch made my breath hitch hard enough to choke me.

The second made me arch back into him without meaning to.

The third made me think I'd forgotten how to breathe at all.

The stretch was immediate, piercingly good, the first push making my thighs shake so hard I had to grab the bedsheet for leverage.

He bottomed out with a low, unscripted groan, his hips flush against me, his hand flexing at my waist like he wanted to drag me back and split me open but was holding himself at the last possible threshold.

"Fuck," I said. Or someone said it. The sound came from my throat, broken and honest.

I clenched around him, a reflex, and the sound it tore out of him was not human.

He shuddered behind me, breath catching on my neck, and I felt every inch of him inside me like a fact.

I arched and slicked around him, desperate to keep him as deep as possible for as long as he'd last. The stretch was so good it hurt.

Every drag of his cock through the slick found another nerve and took the strength out of my knees.

If he hadn't been holding me, I'd have collapsed into the mattress.

My mouth was open but I had no words, only gasps, half-formed and involuntary.

Denil held still. His breath was ragged against my shoulder.

His arm across my hips was tight, possessive in a way that should have scared me and didn't. He drew back.

Drove home. Again. Again. Each stroke pulled a sound out of me I hadn't known I could make, low, fractured, rising on the in-stroke and breaking on the out.

My attention split clean down the middle.

The overwhelm inside, where Denil filled me, his hips moving, the friction building and building until my vision blurred at the edges.

And the care outside. Miner sat on the bed in front of me where I could see his face.

His tie was still tied. His sleeves were still shoved to the elbows.

He took my hand and held it, and when I gripped his fingers he gripped back, and he breathed, slow, even, and I breathed with him.

"That's it," he said. His voice was low, steady. "You're doing perfect. Take what you need."

Isak worked the room around us. He blotted sweat off my temple with the cool cloth. Pressed it to the nape of my neck where my hair had gone damp. His voice moved between filth and comfort in the same register, low and warm.

"Look at you. Taking him so good. You feel that? How wet you are? You're drowning him."

Then he wasn't tending to me. He was in the chair next to the bed, the one by the window with the tan upholstery.

He'd stripped to his boxers. His cock was hard under the fabric, and he rubbed himself through it, slow, his eyes on me, his mouth open.

The chair. The cuck chair, I thought, and almost laughed, because he looked pleased to be in it, like he'd won something by sitting exactly there.

The suite went thick with all of it. Denil's toasted pine and tangelo had gone dark and resinous, deeper with every thrust. Isak's brown butter filled the corners of the room.

Miner's mint and sea salt stayed clean and steady under everything.

And my honeysuckle over the top of it all, the herbs underneath, sharp and unmistakably mine.

Denil fucked me open. Long, hard strokes that started between my hips and reached somewhere behind my sternum.

His praise broke apart against my shoulder, you're so good, you feel so good, I've got you, and for a few blind seconds I forgot he was Celia's brother.

I forgot the wedding. I forgot the two of them training in the garage, loud and cocksure, and me on the driveway steps with markers, laughing at the volume.

I forgot everything but how good it was to be wanted.

To be held. To be free to come apart without someone making it mean I was weak.

The pace changed first. Denil's rhythm, which had started so careful, slow, deliberate, every thrust measured like a calculation, shifted all at once from steady to urgent.

The moment hit in the space between one breath and the next: his hips driving harder, the muscles banded around my waist going taut, a shudder rolling down his body and into mine.

It was as if he'd been white-knuckling his own need, and the leash finally slipped, every ounce of him landing on me at once.

Then his knot began to swell.

I felt it catch at my rim on each thrust, a little thicker each time.

The first time it caught, I almost came undone.

Then came a split-second of resistance. His knot had thickened enough to sting, the slick no match for its sheer width.

Denil ground his hips forward, stretching me open past the point of easy, bigger and fuller with every grind, until he pushed into the root and locked.

The shock was white-hot. I cried out, all vowels and need.

I clenched down, milked the length of him, and pulled him deeper.

It pulsed inside me, a heartbeat, a pressure that bordered on too much before swinging around to perfect. It made the world very, very small.

Denil's groan vibrated through my back where his chest pressed against me.

His arms came around me, one hand splayed across my sternum and the other banded tight across my hips, holding me through it.

Then his arms quivered, his hands shook, and his breathing broke into a staccato rhythm.

He was fucking me open for both of us at once, giving me exactly what I'd asked for and taking it for himself in the same motion.

I didn't know which of us needed it more.

The climax came out of nowhere, one second a dull, persistent rawness, the next a wave of pleasure so sharp it felt like panic.

I sobbed, knees slipping on the sheets, and Denil's entire body arched over mine, his hands landing flat on either side of me as he held himself up and in, locked and knotted.

Miner kept my hand. His fingers were warm and steady, and he didn't let go.

Isak's palm settled flat on my hip. Warm. Present. His thumb moved in a small circle against the muscle.

Knotted, shaking, held on three sides, I finally understood the thing I'd watched Celia have for years.

This had to be what she felt the day she found her pack.

Wanted. Not managed. Not handled. Wanted, specifically, for the thing she was rather than the thing someone needed her to be.

Held. Not contained. Held, with arms that knew the difference between keeping someone safe and keeping someone still.

Allowed to need. Never once punished for the needing.

Denil breathed hard into the curve of my neck, his chest working against my back. The fullness of his knot turned each involuntary movement into a deep tug that tightened my thighs and drew another aftershock through me.

"Okay?" Miner asked, holding my gaze.

I nodded. My voice was gone; aftershocks kept moving through me faster than I could sort them.

Isak's hand was still on my hip. His thumb kept moving, that small circle, and I wondered if he even knew he was doing it.

The suite was quiet. The glass of water on the nightstand had been replaced with a cold one. The king bed fit all of us. For one clear minute, I stopped counting the reasons this was complicated and let all three of them hold me.
