Chapter 7 #3
Every time I'd tried to make a need smaller, a joke, a shrug, a dry remark about the hotel's climate control, one of them had noticed and refused to let me shrink it.
For hours, they'd watched every answer instead of deciding for me.
I could no longer say I was fine. Even to me, the word had stopped meaning anything.
The peak took the last of that defense with it.
The room narrowed to scent, hands, voices, water, breath, and the rhythm of being asked rather than assumed over.
Miner's mouth moved against my pulse. "Do you want me to keep going here?" Half-formed against my skin.
"Yes."
He sucked hard at the join of my neck and shoulder, right where the sensitive bond gland sat closest to the surface, and the sensation went through me like a live wire down a line.
My hips ground onto Denil's knot without asking me.
He swelled inside me again, release flooding warm and deep.
Denil caught the sound I made in a kiss.
After that, the animal I'd kept down broke loose.
"Bite me." I heard it against Denil's lips, and then again, turned toward Miner's mouth at my throat. "Please. Bite me. I need it."
Miner's lips stayed on my skin. His teeth did not. He sucked harder, hard enough that I knew a bruise was coming up there already, a mark with edges, but no break, and the frustration of it made me beg louder.
Denil pushed hard into me, hot and insistent, forcing himself deep enough to leave his own kind of mark. His knot thrust and tugged against my walls while I clenched around him, feral in his rut.
I could smell all of them, all of us. Honeysuckle lay over pine, butter, and mint, my own scent loud enough to taste.
Every part of my biology built for this screamed that these were the ones, the scent match, the perfect fit.
The answer to two decades of not belonging was three sets of teeth away. I could have it right now.
"Please. I need it. Please."
The boundaries we confirmed at the door stand, Miner had said, two days and a lifetime ago.
No bites. I'd demanded it. I'd laid it out easily, back when I still had a working instinct for self-preservation.
That woman felt like a stranger I had stopped being.
I kept saying the words, please, bite me, I need it, with no rational mind behind them, only heat, want, and biology pouring out through the last open door.
Miner didn't lecture me. He didn't say remember what we agreed or you don't mean that.
He kept his mouth on my throat and his teeth off it.
He sucked a second bruise beside the first, giving me everything the boundary allowed and nothing it didn't. My body understood the answer when nothing else was getting through.
Denil cupped my jaw in both big hands and tilted my face to his. His restraint no longer felt withheld. He aimed every ounce of it at me. Up close, I could see every stress line, the stubble, the exhaustion of two days bound to a bed with me.
"Not yet," he said. Low, pitched for the inch between our mouths. "Not like this."
"Denil."
"Listen." His forehead pressed to mine. His eyes at that distance were barely blue, pupils blown wide.
I could feel his rut in the tremor running through the arms caged around my head.
His fingers flexed against my jaw, closed almost to a grip, then eased before they could take it.
The refusal lived in every inch he held back.
"Your scent is perfect. Do you understand me?
You're ours. Every part of me knows it." His breath was ragged.
"And that is exactly why not like this. When we bite you, you are going to be clear-headed.
You are going to be sure. And you are going to remember every second of it.
That is how it happens, or it does not happen. "
You're ours. When, not if. I registered both through the haze and couldn't decide whether they were presumptions or promises.
My body didn't care about the distinction.
He was shaking with the effort of not taking what I was actively begging him to take, holding a rut on a leash by sheer will, and still he waited.
He let Miner's quiet check-ins and my answers set the pace over everything his biology was roaring at him to do.
Every alpha instinct he had was pointed at my throat.
He chose my clear head over his own rut, not once but with every second he stayed still.
The choosing was the most possessive thing anyone had ever done to me.
It undid me more completely than a bite would have.
I thought of Celia.
Just days ago, radiant in white, four bond-mates orbiting her like she was the fixed point the whole room had been built around.
I'd made her paper suite with my own hands, the invitations, the vow book, the place cards, every last piece, donated the work and taken no commission because that was what you did for your person.
I'd made it beautiful. And the whole time, some quiet locked-off part of me had watched the day happen like a lovely presentation of a risk I would never personally underwrite.
I made forevers for other people. I did it well.
And I had seen that forever break more than once.
For one long, dangerous stretch, locked on Denil's knot, Miner's mouth at my throat and Isak's slow breathing across the bed, I understood her completely.
I was watched, wanted, safe. No part of my need remained hidden, no piece of my body needed an apology.
The scent match wound so tight around me that my biology stopped offering fear and gave me only the yes.
The understanding arrived uninvited and total.
For that stretch, I couldn't argue with it.
The heat peak crested and then didn't break.
It stayed cresting, one long sustained high with no edge to fall from.
Denil's knot pulsed inside me. Miner's chest held solid against my side, his arm banded across us both.
Every scent in the room wound through mine until the air became a single unbroken argument for staying.
At some point I stopped begging and did nothing but ride it, held between two men who had decided I was theirs.
My body shook, thighs trembling around Denil's hips.
Miner pressed his mouth to the bruise he'd made and said, quiet, only for me, "You're doing so well.
We've got you. Stay with us." Denil held me through it.
When I could no longer carry myself, I let the high take me.
The heat hadn't broken when the peak began to ebb. I had run out of capacity. My body cramped around too much sensation, like a hand after hours of use. The wave pulled back and took the last of me with it. I started to sag.
Denil felt it. His knot was still locked, so he couldn't pull free.
Instead, he gathered me against him and rolled us until he was on his back, my body stretched along his chest and my cheek against his sternum.
Miner rolled with us and curled at my back, one arm crossing my waist to rest over Denil's ribs.
We landed in a tangle no one would have called dignified, and no one moved to fix it.
I took inventory of the room, desperate for anything to look at beyond the two men holding me through the heat haze.
For the first time all weekend, I was the most present person in the bed.
The cream carpet was littered with our clothes, thrown wherever they'd landed two days ago.
The dresser held the open duffel, its guts spilling out.
Beside it lay the wreckage of a system fully used: torn electrolyte packets, empty snack wrappers, a cooling towel gone to room temperature, water bottles at every level.
On the nightstand sat the bottle Miner had just used to feed Isak.
Two days had proved the kit contained precisely what it claimed.
Everything I needed, nothing I didn't, a few things that had been optional.
Isak was sprawled on the far mattress, breathing in deep, even pulls, one arm still curled toward the rest of us as if his body kept its opinions even in a coma.
Miner's beta stamina had carried him farther than either alpha, but the fatigue was catching up now.
A fine tremor ran through the arm across my waist, the shaking arriving only after the adrenaline drained and there was nothing left to manage.
He pressed one last kiss to the bruise on my throat, unhurried even now, and went still.
Denil went fastest. His knot had barely begun to ease when his breathing changed under my cheek. Within minutes it matched Isak's deep rhythm. His hand stayed spread across my back. He'd committed. Now his body was committing him.
Four bodies in one bed, wrecked, overwhelmed, still touching, no one willing to be the first to let go.
My thighs were slick and weak, my clit swollen nearly past sensation, my whole lower body sore from being thoroughly, completely used.
Under the exhaustion, peace had begun to settle, dangerous and indefensible, and I had no defense against how much I wanted it.
I closed my eyes. Miner's arm tightened at my waist. Denil's hand moved once against my back and went still. Isak breathed slow and even from the far side of the bed, and I let myself sink into the middle of the three of them without keeping track of a single reason I shouldn't.
