Chapter 45

“ C an you just put that in the bedroom?” I asked Kane as he wandered through the apartment, carrying the large chest of drawers that I had brought with me from the Haven.

“When did you become a tiny dictator?” he muttered as he wandered through the apartment. He was closely followed by Carter, who had an armful of nesting supplies. “I learned from the best,” I called after my brother, “your omega.”

I heard a grunt of agreement as he disappeared into the bedroom. Moving into the pack apartment was a mission, and I had convinced my brother to help us. Lavender had also come along, but she was sitting in the kitchen, making snacks.

“Come here, Juniper. I've got the good gummy bears,” she called out, brandishing a bag in the air with a grin. “Archer ordered the good ones for me.”

I grinned and wandered over to the kitchen. “That man gets you so many sweets.” I laughed.

Lavender nodded as she tore open the bag and roughly grabbed a handful of the sweets, shoving them into her mouth. “I've got good alphas, what can I say?” She smirked, turning to look at Asher, who was currently rummaging through one of the kitchen cupboards, working on organizing the crockery. “Did you hear that? If you feed your omega sweets, they love you?” she asked pointedly.

Asher smiled and nodded. “I fully accept that, and I will keep Juniper well-fed.”

“Good, because if you hurt her feelings or don't feed her enough sweets, you don't even have to worry about her brother—you have to worry about me,” she said with a grin.

I was smirking while watching them interact. I was moving into the pack apartment with my pack . I had officially left the Haven and was now in the comfort of my future home. We had moved all the furniture in, and now we were just starting to settle down.

Moving towards the sofa, I picked up a few of the cushions and rearranged them. The guys had let me take complete control when it came to decorating. They already had a few items ready for me, but omegas could be picky, so they took me to one of the nesting stores nearby and let me go wild. And by Lord, did I go wild.

I was pretty sure I bought enough nesting and soft furnishing for seven houses, but somehow, we managed to make it all fit. Lavender hadn't done too badly, either; she had quite an impressive trolley full of goods by the time we'd finished shopping. Kane had merely swiped his credit card with a roll of his eyes, like he was used to her antics.

A hand touched my waist from behind as Dylan pulled me into his chest, my back hitting him as he kissed the crown of my head. I sank into his embrace, inhaling his warm smell, sighing in contentment.

Nothing smelled better than my alphas. It was my first official day as their omega, living in their home. The first day of the rest of my life.

“Okay, I think everything is in place,” Kane said as he wandered out of the bedroom, quickly followed by Carter. “Shall we grab some dinner?”

Lavender shook her head, looking at me pointedly. “No, I think we need to go home, darling,” she said sweetly.

Dylan's thumb was rubbing small circles on my stomach, his touch sending sparks across my skin, even through the fabric of my T-shirt. Kane cocked his head to the side. “We've got plenty of time. We should stick around here for a bit longer.”

I bit my lip. I didn't want to be rude and kick my brother out, but at the same time, I desperately wanted a bit of alone time with my pack.

“Well, we can bring all the guys over another night, and we can have an entire pack dinner,” Lavender said with a smile.

“Oh, we can definitely do that in the future. They really want to meet everyone,” he said.

Lavender shot me a sly look. She understood exactly what I was thinking. I had a distinct impression that, even now I wasn't in the Haven, we were still going to be very good friends. “Kane, sweetie, darling, love of my life,” Lavender said through gritted teeth, looking at her alpha. “I think we need to go.”

“We've got plenty of time— What's going on? Are you okay?”

Lavender sighed, running a hand through her hair. “I swear to God, for someone so intelligent, you are so stupid sometimes,” she said before leveling him with a glare. “We need to go home. It's your sister’s first night with her pack. I'm pretty sure they want to fuck, and we are getting in the way,” she said pointedly.

Kayne’s entire face fell as utter shock took over. His head whipped around to look at me, where I was cozied up in Dylan's arms as he kissed the top of my head. I shrugged, giving him an apologetic look, but at the same time, I knew what I wanted, and I definitely didn't want him to be present for what I was going to be doing that evening.

“It is my first night at home,” I said.

Kane’s mouth opened and closed for a few seconds, and I was beginning to worry that his entire brain had short-circuited when he ran over to Lavender, grabbed her hand, and started dragging her toward the door.

“It was great seeing you guys. I will be back in a few days. Be good, don't do anything I wouldn't do. Actually, don’t do things I would do. I do bad things. You shouldn’t do that, okay? Take care of my sister, bye.” All his words came out in a rush, followed by the slam of the door.

After that, it was quiet for a moment as we all looked at each other. Carter broke out into a large belly laugh first, bending over with the sheer strength of his giggles, and all of us followed suit, unable to contain our laughter.

“Did you see his face?” Carter said. “He looked like his head was going to explode.”

I shook my head. “He is so smart, but so dumb, just like Lavender said.”

Dylan's hands tightened around me and his lips found my neck. “But now he's gone…”

I turned around in his arms, wrapping my own around his neck, standing on tiptoes to place a soft kiss on his mouth. “Now he's gone,” I said against his lips, “I think you guys better help me test out the nest. It's new, after all, and I think we need to do our due diligence.”

Dylan pulled back and smirked. “You know what? I think you're right,” he said, glancing between his pack mates. “Let's go,” he said, bending down so his shoulder hit my stomach, picking me up so I was flung across his shoulder. His arms wrapped around my legs as he carried me off to the nest.

My new life was only just starting, but I could already tell it was going to be pretty Goddamn perfect.
