Chapter 18 #2
“God,” I groan, putting my forehead to the steering wheel after pulling into the parking lot at a gas station.
One Alpha down, two more to go. Well, one more. If Ian isn’t my scent match, then it only leaves Nick.
Ian is the only other choice to try and find out because Nick is never around. Since he returned to the Steel Devils, apart from watching him drive by on his bike with his men, I haven’t seen him around town.
There’s no way in hell I’m going anywhere near the compound. That's a cop’s one way ticket to getting shot.
I can’t die. I’m too young, too pretty. And I really want to know what it would feel like to ride my Alpha before I pass away.
“Stop thinking about his dick,” I groan, hitting my head over and over again against the steering wheel.
Taking a deep breath, I leave for the bakery.
The place is actually pretty busy for this time of day. When I head in, there’s five people already waiting in line.
I’m a mess as I get in line, looking at the menus to see what I should order, trying not to let my eyes drift to who’s working behind the register. It’s not Ian, but I can hear his laugh coming from somewhere nearby.
Yes, I know what his laugh sounds like. Thank the stalking because one of the days I saw Nova, Ian was with her. He was constantly laughing at something she said. Unfortunately, I couldn’t approach them to catch his scent without drawing too much attention to myself.
Plus, I want to be by myself when I find out who my scent match is.
Deciding on the cookie butter croissant and a black coffee, I wait for my turn.
And just my luck, as soon as I’m done paying for my order, Ian walks out with a tray of cupcakes.
My heart thunders in my chest as I step to the side, closer to Ian.
He doesn’t notice me as he hums, placing the cupcakes in the display case.
“They look good,” I compliment, getting his attention.
“Thanks, I made them myself.” His head pops up, a smile on his lips, but it drops the moment he looks at me. “You,” he lets out a low rumbling growl that has me breaking out into a sweat.
“Me?” I question, a rush of fear filling me. “What about me?”
“What about you?” he demands, placing the tray down and rounding the counter.
My eyes widen as I stumble back, Ian charging towards me. He shoves me against the wall, and I let out a grunt when my back hits it hard. “Fuck,” I wheeze.
Gripping my shirt in his hand, he leans in close. “You’re the asshole who thought it would be fun to snatch my Omega off the street and bring her in for questioning for no fucking reason.”
He’s close, so close. I say nothing and breathe him in. Not that I have a choice. I’m freaking out, taking in deep breaths. I smell him. Maple syrup. Maple fucking syrup. Not gingerbread snickerdoodle.
He’s not my Alpha. Thank fucking god he’s not my Alpha.
“I didn’t do that,” I promise. “That was one of the other officers. Well, the snatching her off the street thing. Something I don’t agree with, by the way.”
“But you felt the need to press Nova about us, why?” He narrows his eyes, nostrils flaring. “What do you want with us?”
I did want to put you and your brothers behind bars to further my career but now I’ve given all that up for a chance at being a part of your pack.
I think it but I don’t say that. Not unless I want to be laughed at then have my ass kicked.
I’m as big as he is, but he’s an Alpha. Yes, I’m a cop. I have training for this. I could take him down if I wanted to, but that wouldn’t help my case.
“Nothing, I promise.” Not a lie. At least not now.
“Bullshit.” He pulls me forward before smashing me back into the wall. “If you fuck with my Omega again, I’ll kill you.” He smiles, and fuck, it’s kind of terrifying. “Got it?”
“You do know you're threatening an officer of the law, right?” Damn it, Tucker. Not the time.
“My brothers might be more careful when it comes to the law, but I’m not.” He laughs lowly. “I follow through on my promises. What are you going to do, arrest me? Go on. Do it.”
“I’m not going to arrest you.” Even though I could with what he just said.
He narrows his eyes. “You’re too pretty. I don’t like it. I don’t like you.”
Well, that takes me off guard. “Ah, thanks? I think...”
“Pretty people are always up to no good.”
“So does that mean you’re up to no good?”
“Huh?” His brows furrow.
“Well, you’re not bad looking yourself.”
His lips lift into a smile. “Well damn, Detective Davis, do you think I’m pretty?” he laughs.
My cheeks heat. Damn it, I walked right into that one.
“It doesn’t matter.”
“So you’re saying I’m not pretty?” he growls, his smile falling.
“That’s not what I said.”
“So I’m pretty?”
“Yes, fine, you’re pretty.”
“Thanks, pretty boy.” He taps my cheek roughly letting me go. “I still don’t like you,” he repeats, stepping back.
“That much I can tell.”
“I’m watching you.” He does that thing with his fingers, pointing to his eyes then to me. “Always watching.”
“Uh. Tucker?” The girl from the counter calls my name. “Your order is ready.”
Ian stares me down as I rush over to get my things and leave.
Once I’m in my car, I let out a sigh, close my eyes, and lean my head back against the head rest.
Will and Ian aren't my Alphas, so that only leaves Nick.
The new president of an MC. An MC known for doing shady shit.
Even if he cleaned the place up, he’s still a criminal.
Possibly a killer? I mean, a lot of his father’s men, including his father himself were suspected of it, but there was never any evidence.
I mean, do you pick a road name like ‘Killer’ for any other reason?
My Alpha is Nick. Fucking Nick.
Sure, I’ve kind of had this fucked up crush on him just from his photos alone. I might need to go see someone about that, by the way.
But it’s Nick. Fucking Nick!
“Fuck. My. Life.”
Well, what the hell do I do now?
He would probably shoot me on the spot if I went to the compound. The only way this will leat to a good outcome is to go through Nova. I don’t want to use her to get to her Alphas, because I also want her.
And it’s not like it’s all of her Alphas. Just one. Just the big, scary, crazy-hot tattooed blond man who makes my cock hard and my ass weep.
“I’m so fucked.”
