Chapter 51 Ollie
Ollie
Two Months Later
It’s been a few months since we bit each other and formed a pack, and I can’t remember being so happy.
Noa and I had a bathroom break before the game began, and we both gushed about our alphas like love-struck idiots for too long. Now we are heading to seats right by the barriers. Having alphas on the team really has its perks.
But we still had a problem. Which is mainly that Timber kicked us out of bed this morning because he got pissy with me.
It really took a while to get used to living with them both. Kane automatically invited himself to Timber’s house and sort of never left. He formally registered us as a pack like he’d been angling for from the start as well, which generated a ton of buzz.
So many Scorpions have packed up with each other this season that fans are even placing bets on who’ll end up with whom.
As far as Marilyn is aware, ‘Luke’ still works for Timber, and ‘Ollie’ has been released from the hospital. The guys said she was satisfied because they had packed up and their games have improved, and I was just going to leave it there. There’s no need to poke a sleeping bear, after all.
I scan the ice, hoping to see them, but the players aren’t out yet.
My brows stay furrowed because I don’t like fighting with Timber, but I’m pretty sure we’d make up later.
“What’s wrong? You’ve looked like that since we met up,” Noa asks as she nudges my shoulder.
I sigh, blowing air out of the side of my mouth. I guess I have to confess after all…
“It’s nothing much. Timber’s just annoyed because I said ‘initiating docking sequence’ and made spaceship noises as I sat on his face this morning.”
I try to keep a straight face, but Noa sparkles, and we both burst out laughing. We’re holding each other as we giggle until a voice cuts through us.
“Well, hello there,” someone says in front of us, and we look up.
Two alphas block the way to our seats, and both of them have their eyes fixed on Noa.
“You look like you could use a tasty snack,” one of them says. “Have you eaten anything big and hard recently? Because we’ve something on the menu that’s right up your alley.”
A snarl rips from me before he even has a chance to grab his dick and leer at her.
I fling my arm around Noa, pulling her tight to my chest. “Back the fuck off unless you want to walk out of here with no balls.”
My rage beats off me, because how dare they? We were just here minding our own business, and they have no fucking right to go anywhere near Noa.
“You really want to go?” I ask, lifting my fist. “I don’t give a shit who sees us. I’m happy to take you on.” I’ve let Timber influence me way too much, but it’s so sexy when he gets into fights, especially when he goes after Kane during games for old time’s sake.
“It’s up to you if you want to get filmed having the shit kicked out of you.”
Their expressions fall as I growl at them again.
“Hey, we’re just joking around. We thought you wanted some fun.”
“And how would you know that?” I snarl. “You want to know what fun is? Beating the crap out of two weak-ass alphas who can’t even fucking—”
“Ollie,” Noa says urgently, tugging on the front of my shirt. “There are lots of people watching. Can we just go to our seats?”
I’m growling with every breath, and I suddenly realize I’m squeezing her too tightly. Okay, maybe I went into my Timber persona a little too hard there.
“Move out of our way,” I bite out as I grab Noa’s hand and walk straight toward them.
They both scowl at us as they step aside, and I hope they aren’t sitting next to us, because that would be awkward as hell.
“You didn’t need to get so angry,” Noa says as we leave them behind. Her brow furrows, and guilt slams into me. I realize I’ve scared her again.
“I’m sorry,” I say, quickly pulling her into a hug. “I didn’t mean to lose it like that. I just hate it when people treat you grossly.”
“I could have handled it myself as well,” she says as she eases out of my hug.
“But then I don’t get to act like a spitting alleycat. And you know those guys deserved a kick in the balls.”
“Who are we kicking in the balls?” Luke pops up behind me with an excited voice. He must have hobbled over on his crutches.
“Just some deadbeat alphas who think that Noa is fair game because she’s so pretty. We should have told them who our alphas are.”
“Aw, can you go and get them back? I have the perfect ammunition, and I haven’t had the chance to try it out!”
He lifts a leg, giving his full cast a shake as he beams. “I can break a femur or two with these bad boys.” And if he can’t use his casts, I’m pretty sure he’ll use his crutches to take them down somehow. I love my brother, but his flair for dramatics could get dark at times.
But we’d do anything to protect Noa, just like her three alphas would.
“If you really want to, go ask them to play, but I doubt your nurse is going to like it.”
Luke turns around and grimaces at the take-no-shit alpha female who sits next to his empty seat, her arms folded, glaring at him.
She’s seriously cool, and the kind of person who flawlessly pulls off a cape and a beret.
But I would look like that too if I had to look after him twelve hours a day.
I’m amazed she hasn’t quit like the last nurse Kane hired for him.
Even though I told him no multiple times, Kane eventually confessed that he had already paid off our hospital bills, and finished the argument with “and there’s nothing you can do about it!” with a laugh. But he knows exactly how much I fucked myself up to pay them off.
He has a special ability to annoy Timber and me in just the right way, which means we’ll still forgive him whenever he plays his games. He’s so charming that it’s hard to hold a grudge, at least for me. Timber is made of stronger stuff.
It doesn’t help that Luke, Kane, Noa, and Timber all team up against me, the one who didn’t want to act like a gold digger and use up all my alpha’s funds on my idiot brother.
But it means the world to see Luke out and about with a bright smile on his face.
I offer my arm to Noa, grinning at her. “The game’s starting soon. Shall we?” I ask.
She nods as she wraps her arm through mine, and we follow Luke as he slowly hops back to our seats on his crutches.
With Luke next to his nurse, I settle in beside him, and Noa takes the empty chair on my right.
Noa has packed up with two other Scorpions, Thorne and Silas, which thrilled us to bits. If anyone was going to protect her from her former pack, it would be two stacked hockey players. And they are friends with Timber and Kane, which is an added plus!
We’re still chattering when Havoc, Noa’s third alpha, finally appears.
Luke bursts into an evil laugh. He knocks a crutch with his cast, slamming the rubber end into the seat in front of him and earning himself a scowl from the occupant as he blocks Havoc’s path.
As tall as Havoc is, his arms are overflowing with food as he walks along the row. His long brown hair almost hides the earplugs he wears, a matching red set to Noa’s pink ones. For such a scary-looking guy, it’s odd that noise bothers him almost as much as it does Noa.
“Come on, hand over the goods,” Luke says, sticking out his hand and wiggling his fingers.
Havoc raises an eyebrow before handing over the largest soda known to man and a whole tray of nachos and hot dogs. Half of what Havoc is holding is for Luke to pour down his gullet. We’re treating ourselves since it’s the first time he’s left Kane’s house since he was discharged.
Luke instantly takes a deep drag of the soda and groans.
“Oh yeah, that’s the stuff,” he says as he grins up at Havoc. “You may pass,” he says, dropping the crutch, and Havoc is still staring at him in confusion.
I’ve given up telling people that they’ll get used to Luke, because even Noa and I are still baffled by him sometimes.
Havoc distributes the rest of the snacks, murmuring cute things to Noa.
The way she blushes and smiles up at him gives him an instant gold star in my book.
I’ve never seen her look so happy, and it’s everything in the world to me that her alphas make her feel so safe and protected, just like mine do.
Luke is happily chomping away as Noa nibbles on her sour candies. Havoc gives me a hot dog layered with onions and pickles, and I eye it suspiciously. Market food is always good, but sports food doesn’t have a good rep.
Until I take a bite.
The taste of cheap fried meat and sweet, dry bread, along with sour sauces and toppings, sweeps my tongue, and I moan.
“Holy shit,” I say through a mouthful of food. I keep on chomping at it, swallowing quickly as Noa and Havoc watch me with grins.
“Is it good?” Noa asks.
“Whoever made this needs to have their ass eaten, because oh my God.”
“That’s exactly what I said!” Luke chimes in.
“I thought you were both nutritionists?” Havoc asks before he takes a bite of his pretzel.
“We are, but we’ve never been to a ‘sports game’ together before,” I say with air quotes, because any professional sport is way out of our price range. We were actually hoping the job with Timber might swing us some tickets, so it did work out in the end.
“And when in Rome!” Luke says, holding up his tray of nachos that he’s already vacuuming up, and looks like they’re going to topple. His nurse grabs them in time, catching him against her chest before he goes down as well.
“Luke,” she says his name with a growl, and he instantly goes silent and blinks up at her. Which is another reason we hope she’ll stick around.
A minute later, Luke is shivering. I look at him flatly, and he shrugs. “I mean, they didn’t specifically say it’s going to be cold.”
“It’s an ice rink, Luke. Ice. Rink. What did you think was going to happen?” I ask.
Havoc leans forward, passing his scarf over us to hand it to Luke.
