Chapter 16 #3
“Yes, Alpha,” I murmur, slipping off my shoes and climbing in next to Rosalia.
“Don’t say that,” she mutters, her fingers moving across the screen while my lips curl into a smirk.
Rosalia’s skin is almost too hot to touch, but I move her until she’s laying on top of me. When she whimpers, I begin to play with her hair, my fingers digging into her scalp until she relaxes again. She seems less scary when she’s sleeping for some reason.
“You look surprised.” Blinking, I look over at Verona to find her watching me.
“Rosalia is intimidating when she’s awake. I was just thinking about how tiny she really is.”
“She acts like she’s ten feet tall,” Verona chuckles, her voice husky as she speaks.
Do not perfume. Fuck, this woman can’t know how sexy she is. It’s not possible.
“She does. Verona, I need to say something. If you don’t want to be my alpha, just reject me. I don’t believe in tying people to me who don’t want me. I hate feeling as if I’m causing issues in our pack.”
And here comes the word vomit. I keep my eyes firmly on Rosalia’s body as I continue to say all the things I’ve been thinking about.
“It’s confusing enough to have Dario and Ciro confess they’ve always been into me.
I feel like a greedy bastard as it is. Rosalia clearly needs you with everything going on, so just…
reject me. I’m always going to want to be in her life because she’s my soul match.
I can feel it just having her laying on me.
Somehow, the world decided you’re both mine, but only one of you gets to choose if you want me back. ”
“Pablo. Look at me.”
Blinking furiously, I realize I’m crying. Ugh. Shaking my head, I swallow hard in an effort to stop. God, I can’t tell you the last time I cried before discovering my designation. Now, it happens all too often.
“Just do it. I’m not strong enough to, and she needs you more than I do.”
“Does she?” Verona’s breath is against my ear and I gasp as I find that she’s crawled onto the bed into the space where Rosalia was.
“I love this woman more than anything, but all I’ve been able to do is think while staying here.
People are capable of caring about multiple people at once.
I see it with Pack Mayor. They drop food off to us, sometimes alone, other times together.
This morning before she got worse, all three of them sat with me outside so I could have someone to talk to.
This little house is too damn quiet. It’s the first time we’ve discussed things outside of the event we’re planning.
“While they’re open to finding an omega, they’re completely happy with each other. None of them allow the other to go too far off course or take themselves too seriously. It’s nice to see a group of men who aren’t afraid to apologize when they fuck up. I’m not going to reject you, Pablo.”
“You’re not?” I sniffle. “For the record, I hate crying.”
“Noted. So does Rosa.” Glancing at her, I find her close enough to kiss. Her lips are curled into a wry smile, and she gently smoothes away my tears. “I don’t want to be responsible for any more of these, okay? Did you really hop a fence to come see us?”
“Yes.” I can’t help but roll my eyes at myself. “It’s all I could think of to do. I knew Easton wouldn’t let me see you, and I was worried when he said Rosalia wasn’t feeling well. Pair this with how Nico’s head has been bothering him, and I couldn’t not see her. I know it was impulsive.”
“I can’t stand your brothers, but I like talking to you. Feel free to hang out with us. I’ll call a car for you once you’re ready to go.”
Turning her face quickly, she yawns widely.
“You should nap. I can let the doctor in, Verona.”
“I’m doing a terrible job of taking care of my omegas if you’re trying to boss me around,” she says.
My breath freezes as she says “her omegas”, and I force myself to keep calm. It’s probably just a turn of phrase. She doesn’t mean it. I’m content with the fact that she’s not rejecting me for now.
“You’re not. I can tell you’re tired. Rosalia weighs nothing. I can sneak out to open a door. Let me scoot over.”
As much as I hate the gym, my debacle with the fence makes me want to go. I have naturally strong arms, but I’ve always felt as if my chest is softer than it should be. Though, maybe that’s not terrible as Rosalia snuggles on my chest once I move. Who wants to lay on something that’s hard?
Though, I don’t mind with Nico. Even then, we are more likely to spoon than sleep like this. Verona’s breathing deepens very quickly, helping me know I made the right call. She can’t take care of Rosalia if she’s exhausted. I didn’t need to do much to convince her.
Nico would have tied me up to get me to relax, sucked me off until I blew my load down his throat, and then left me to sleep. It’s not that I don’t enjoy his way, it’s simply not the only way. My stepbrothers are bulls in a china shop.
Except maybe Dario, though he’ll manipulate the situation until peace is met.
Getting comfortable as Verona pushes her leg between mine, I decide my way isn’t so bad.
