Chapter 10

LENNOX
My lips twist in displeasure as I sit in the parking lot of the hotel and watch as Arlo walks out with a suitcase while holding Calista’s hand.
He appears harried as he hurries along and I search for evidence of a ride share waiting for them, only to come up empty. Arlo flips his hair out of his eyes, showing it's too long and he probably needs a hair cut, while Calista speaks animatedly to him.
Why are they alone?
Rufus is sleeping after running out his zoomies at six in the morning at the beach. I went for a legitimate run because I can’t get Arlo or Ves out of my head, and masturbating felt wrong.
Once I fist my cock to thoughts of them, I know I’ll rub it raw as I imagine knotting Arlo’s sweet asshole or shooting my release all over Ves’ smug face.
Fuck. Who am I kidding? The ship has sailed on obsession. The true question is how deep will it end up going?
Knowing Rufus won’t bark and alert anyone of my stalking, I lower my window and listen as Calista’s voice chatters on.
“Do we have time for pancakes before we get on the train, Daddy?”
The words are yelled over her shoulder, and I begin looking for Ves.
Arlo glances over his own shoulder, grinning as Ves jogs after them, and I fix my face as I relax slightly. They walk right past me as Ves promises his little girl breakfast before her train ride home.
I did a little research on Sylvester March, finding he’s on tour teaching for the FBI.
It’s amazing what some digging and cashing in a favor or two can get you.
I’m not sure if it’s only a teaching position, but the shrewd glint in his steely eyes tells me he enjoys a more hands on approach to things.
Either way, I’m glad my performances will revolve around an hour and a half radius for the next few weeks.
I want to learn all I can about Ves, other than the fact that he’s a single dad with terrible taste in women.
Calista is much better off without her mother.
I managed to find a mugshot, and found out she was briefly in jail before being cut loose.
It also turns out his baby mama is certifiably insane and Ves has a protection order against her after she tried to kidnap Cali. Shuddering at the thought, I decide I’m grateful he’s such a growly asshole. Whatever keeps his daughter safe.
Ves is protective of his little girl, and as he slings his arm around Arlo’s shoulders, I can safely say this extends to the young omega as well.
Blowing out a breath, I decide I’m thankful Ves has finally pulled his head out of his ass.
I was worried I was going to need to make another play for Arlo.
Instead, I can plan another course of action that’ll hopefully include me in their budding new relationship.
Once I watch them get safely into Ves’ vehicle, I allow my eyes to drift, taking in the parking lot for any possible danger.
I’m not sure why when I saw Ves’ firearms underneath his suit jacket as he picked Calista up to put her into her car seat.
I notice entirely too much about the three of them.
Calista is a sweet kid, I don’t want anything bad to happen to her.
That’s why I growl angrily as I realize someone else is watching my omegas.
He’s leaning forward in his seat, wearing all black, and his sweatshirt’s hood is pulled over his head.
It is way too damn hot for that mess, and I frown as I look from where he’s parked two spaces away from me and then back to the SUV that’s currently backing up, likely headed to get Calista pancakes.
“No fucking way,” I growl, hitting the button to roll up my window.
What the hell is this guy doing, stalking my guys?
Is he working for Ves’ baby mama? Or worse yet, is he in the auction game?
Those men fucking disgust me, and they will shadow omegas until they make their move as head hunters.
They make a lot of fucking money once they drop their mark off, but I could never perform a job like that.
Yanking my bat from under my passenger side seat, I hop out of my van and slam the door shut, loping in his direction. His eyes widen by the time he sees me, and while I’d love to call the color piss-yellow, they’re actually a really pretty brown.
I can’t allow myself to enjoy how unconventionally attractive he is. It’ll just make my dick sad when I have to bash his pretty face in. I tap my bat against the front of his van as he moves to put the vehicle in drive, shaking my head with a scowl.
He rolls his eyes as he follows the same action with his window, and I take in as many details as possible. It’s an older vehicle, but it’s obvious he takes decent care of it. There isn’t any rust anywhere on the van, and the window doesn’t squeak or squeal either.
“What’s your deal?” I snarl. “Why are you following my omegas?”
The alpha’s scent hits me in the face at the same time his shock does, and his gaze hardens. However, I am much more preoccupied with the flavor of salted caramel pecans laying heavy on my tongue. Fuck me. I don’t give a fuck if he doesn’t like me checking his stalking. I want some answers.
“You mean my omega?” His voice is deep and gravely, and I ignore the way my dick perks up at the sound.
What the fuck does it know? Shit, this is so bad. This alpha is going to mean something to me, I can already tell. My dick has been pretty much dead unless I’ve been around or thinking about Arlo or Ves since I met them three days ago. Goddamnit!
“I might. Aren’t you hot?” I ask, glaring at his hoodie.
“It’s freezing in the van. Why does it matter?”
“If you get a heat stroke, you may not get to meet Ves and Arlo, now will you?”
Something tells me if Ves had already met this alpha, he’d have been more on edge around me.
His spidey senses are why he works for the FBI.
My private investigator friend is meeting up with me soon to deliver a dossier that should rival whatever shit law enforcement can get.
Maybe better, because my guy has absolutely no morals about how he collects his data.
No one is better than Ryder Fishman. I’m just glad I caught him before he moved out to Minnesota.
“How the fuck do you know what I have and haven’t done?”
“It’s just a hunch,” I shrug. “You got a name, Alt boy?”
As we’ve talked, he’s shoved up the sleeves of his hoodie to expose the tattoos crawling up his skin. His hand rubs his buzzed head, and it makes me wonder if the peach fuzz I can see is soft or not.
Fuck, get it together, man. I can’t go touching random people’s heads! Except…he’s not random, is he?
“Really?”
“Without a name, I don’t have much to go off of. People call me ‘Viking guy', and my boxers don’t get in a bunch over it. Well, they wouldn’t if I wore them.”
Shit, I’m rambling.
“Baron. That has to be better than Alt Boy.” The disgust drips from his tongue, and I arrogantly adjust my cock.
“Lennox. See, now you don’t have to be anti-social. Which one are you following home?”
“I don’t understand why they’re separated,” he grumbles.
“Because Ves needs to finish pulling his head out of ass. I have a feeling Arlo got lucky with him recently. Did you notice how Ves couldn’t stop touching him?”
“I don’t like him.” Each word is bitten out and I tap my bat against my thigh.
“You need to learn how to share.” I feel like a parent speaking to a child right now.
Ugh. If I’m not careful, his head will explode.
I can already see the smoke coming out of his ears.
“I promise it’s better if Ves gives into his feelings.
Arlo likes him, and it’s important for him to be happy too. ”
“I’m not an idiot.”
“Then don’t act like one.” I shrug because it really is that simple.
“Do you want to head back to LA and keep watch over Arlo? I’m going to be circling around the area for work.
I think we should divide and conquer until Ves decides to keep his nanny closer to him.
I also have no idea how he’ll be able to survive without his daughter for extended periods of time. They’re close.”
“You know a lot about the happy little family,” Baron mutters.
“We’ve hung out a bit. Nothing crazy, and just so happened that we were in the area for a little kismet action. So, are you willing to work together? Arlo and Ves are both my scent matches. I won’t back down on this. You may as well keep me happy and do this my way.”
“Confident fucker.”
“Why yes. Thank you for noticing.” Pulling my phone out of my pocket, I hand it over to him. “Put your digits inside of it, and we’ll keep each other in the loop.”
He stares at it as if it’s going to bite him, but still does it with a sneer one-handed. “One text a day, unless it’s an emergency. Then and only then, can you call me, Lennox. I’ll follow whoever I please..”
“Yes, sir!” I say, saluting him as I take back my phone. “Be the boss if you want, I don’t fucking care. All I ask is that you figure out your shit soon. See ya around, Baron. Maybe you won’t look like you’re going to bite my head off next time.”
“Maybe I’ll stab you next time.” He flicks open his pocket knife as I begin to walk backward and I blow him a kiss in return.
“A little knife like that isn’t going to do shit to me. Have a heart, and threaten me with something bigger!”
Giving him my back, I take a deep breath and high tail it to my van before I end up fucking up. I swear, sometimes I think my arrogance is going to kill me.
“Not today, Satan.” Settling in the driver side of my vehicle, I decide to treat myself to breakfast. I didn’t get myself killed, and I didn’t shit myself.
May as well celebrate this.
