Chapter 9 Double Knotted

Double Knotted

The car rolled along, and I laid in the back, hands tied, and slung every foul insult I could think of at him.

My body was vibrating with panic, nausea welling up in my gut, my skin freezing and sweaty at the same time.

I considered kicking him, but he was driving, and I didn’t want to get in a car crash.

I should’ve been looking out the window and figuring out where exactly we were. Taking a deep breath, I forced myself to still, and bit back the curses I wanted to throw at Thorne.

The break gave me a chance to calm down, and as my emotions cooled, I realized I was going about this the wrong way.

Getting more riled up only forced him to double down on restraining me.

It seemed like if I calmed down and pretended like I was totally cool with him being a werewolf, maybe he would let me go.

Or he would want to bang me again. The idea had some appeal, despite the freaky knotty dick situation.

Finally, the car slowed, and Thorne pulled onto a driveway. It was dark outside with no visible house lights or street lamps. Thorne got out, taking my phone with him. I tensed, unsure what door he would open. If it was the one at my feet, I’d kick him in the head.

It was the door at my back. Shrieking, I fell backward, stopped by Thorne’s strong arms and firm chest. He was still shirtless.

A flush rose to my cheeks as he pulled me out of the car and slipped another arm under my bare legs, hefting me up against his chest. It would be so sweet if my wrists weren’t tied together.

“Are you calm now? I’d like to be able to untie you and make sure I don’t hurt you.”

My plans to thrash and bite him went on hold. Things would be much easier if he untied me, so I leaned into his hold and let him carry me naked up the driveway to a dark house.

Peering around, no other houses were visible. In the waxing moon, I could see greenery, maybe trees in the distance. We had to be on the very edge of town.

Thorne kicked the door instead of knocking, and a moment later, it opened.

Cole stood there, his eyebrows arching as he took us in—my naked ass and Thorne looking ready to murder someone.

“I take it the date went well?” Cole drawled.

“She thought I was pretending to be a werewolf.”

“Did you know your friend is a fucking werewolf?” I snapped.

“We’re fine. Just a misunderstanding,” Thorne said, ignoring my tirade.

Cole chuckled, raking his fingers through his mess of black hair. “Yes, I was aware of that. I take it that you weren’t?”

Scoffing, I elbowed Thorne’s ribs, looking for some way to take out my extreme frustration and embarrassment on him.

“So what did you do?” Cole asked, his gray eyes alight with amusement.

Thorne grumbled. “She basically ripped my pants off and said she’d find someone else if I didn’t fuck her.”

“Are you fucking kidding me?” I yelped, my rage roaring back to life at his gross mischaracterization of our interaction.

“You could have not knotted her,” Cole said, following us as Thorne carried me down a hallway.

“I can walk, ya know,” I hissed at Thorne.

Again, he ignored me and spoke to Cole. “You don’t know what it’s like, man. Being with your fated mate for the first time. I don’t even know what happened.”

“You screwed me with your freaky werewolf dick that I hope rots and falls off,” I growled.

“Hey.” He frowned, almost a pout. “You seemed to be enjoying it before I surprised you with my knot. You literally screamed.”

My cheeks stung from my flaming blush. “Way to give a girl her dignity. Speaking of, you’re not worried about your buddy seeing me naked? I’m not into exhibitionism, dude.”

Thorne entered a bedroom and closed the door with his foot, leaving Cole in the hallway with a smirk on his face.

“Sorry,” he muttered. “Werewolves don’t really care about nudity and modesty and stuff. Everyone strips at the full moon, so I guess we’re just used to it.”

Gently, he laid me down on the bed and sat beside my knees, reaching for my bound wrists. My initial reaction was to snarl and pull away, but if he was going to untie me, it was best that I play nice.

Gritting my teeth, I let him fiddle with the knot until it came undone. Jerking my hands back, I rubbed at my wrists. Thorne watched me, his brows furrowed in concern.

Gnawing on my lip, I looked him over. Black boxers hugged his waist and thighs, doing nothing to hide his dick. Swallowing, I forced my gaze upward. His lips were full and soft, and I could just throw myself forward and he would catch me and lay me down and cover my body…

Woah.

Mentally shaking myself, I focused on the issue at hand.

“So you actually turn into a monster once a month?”

“We turn into wolves. Big ones, but not like a Hollywood werewolf standing upright and walking. If you saw us in nature, you’d probably think we were normal wolves. Does that make sense?”

He tossed the rope at the bedside table and sighed, looking at me with a mix of worry and hope.

Despite my best efforts, my panic was fading, and even though I was still furious, I was really interested in his answers. I could always get revenge later, which would be easier if he thought I was on board with the whole situation.

“I’m not sure I’ll believe it unless you show me,” I muttered darkly.

Thorne settled a hand on my calf, and the contact felt as natural as breathing, even as zaps of energy and heat radiated from the contact.

Apparently, my body was still very much on board with the “fuck Thorne” plan. Despite the werewolf situation. Or maybe because of it.

Am I a monster fucker?

Shaking my head, I focused on his answer.

“We only shift at the full moon. Sorry.”

“So it’s like your period,” I surmised, secretly enjoying the way Thorne’s mouth thinned at my words.

“Okay, I understand you’re a furry, and I won’t call the police on your ass. Can I go now?”

“I’m not a furry,” he growled.

“It’s okay. Furries have rights now, too,” I said, smirking at him. Bonus points for making him uncomfortable.

My gaze fell to his dick, clearly hardening in his boxers.

“Oh my god, you are getting turned on by me calling you a furry,” I said, my smile turning vicious.

“I am not.” A flush colored his cheeks, saturating his tan skin. “I’m turned on because I’m sitting here looking at my fated mate and she’s naked.”

The words echoed in my head, finally registering

“Woah dude, what the fuck do you mean, ‘fated mate’?”

His thick brows furrowed. “I told you that earlier. It means we’re bonded at a soul level. That’s why we’re so drawn together. Why didn’t you ask me what it meant earlier?”

“Because I thought you were roleplaying!” I said, my irritation rising as a flush crawled up my neck.

Now, we were both red in the face, embarrassed, and pissed off.

“I was being honest. I’ve always been honest with you. You are the other half of my soul. I couldn’t resist you, even if I tried.”

“Well, I sure as fuck can,” I growled. “I’m not accepting that we’re some cosmic true loves. That’s bullshit. So if you’d kindly give me my clothes so I can leave, that would be great.”

Thorne dropped his head into his hands, tugging at his short hair. “Autumn, we have to figure this out. You don’t trust me, and I’m worried about what you might do. And the longer we go without embracing our mating bond, the more it’ll hurt us.”

“You can’t keep me captive here. That’s not how you should be treating your mate! If any of that was remotely true.” Mentally, I imagined slapping him, and I was seriously considering actually doing it when he stood up.

“Look, I’m going to go talk to Cole. He might know what to do to fix this.”

“Fine. Go consult the emo.” Crossing my arms over my breasts, I scowled at him.

Thorne sighed deeply, dragging his fingers through his hair, something I was beginning to suspect was a nervous tic. With one last regretful look, he walked out of the room and closed the door behind him.

My first thought was that I wanted him to come back. We could fight some more, have make-up sex—wait, what?

Digging my nails into my thighs, I chided myself. Something was very wrong with me. I needed to focus on escaping and calling the police on his ass, not ogling it.

Before he could return, I climbed off the bed and went to the window, hoping it would unlock and open. No luck.

There were no other doors. Could I break the window?

Raised voices reached me through the door, and I paused. Were Cole and Thorne fighting? No, that didn’t sound like either of them. It sounded like Sawyer.
