SHORT STORIES 4 #4
She fell asleep half on top of him. Miles stared at the ceiling and let the ache become something almost sacred.
The final restricted days before the next Sunday session grew sharper.
Diana allowed him oral attention, hand attention, full sex twice, but permission to finish only once, early in the stretch.
After that, she became elegant about refusal.
She would bring him to the brink while reading something on her phone, then stop and finish a paragraph out loud as if nothing had happened.
She would let him enter her from behind in the morning, move with him for a minute, then pull away and say she needed coffee more than she needed his orgasm.
She always checked his face after. She always left room for yellow or red. He stayed green, wrecked and willing.
The night before the session, she sat cross-legged on the bed in one of his shirts and made him stand in front of her.
"Tell me what this game has done to you."
Miles thought of easy answers and discarded them.
"It made me pay attention. Not only to sex. To you. To waiting. To the difference between wanting something and grabbing it. I like who I am when I have to ask. I like who you are when you decide."
Diana's expression softened in a way that had nothing to do with Mistress and everything to do with wife. "I like it too. More than I expected. I thought I was indulging you. Then I realized I enjoy the power because you hand it over cleanly. No resentment. No scorekeeping. Just desire with rules."
"That is what I wanted."
"Tomorrow is the session," she said. "Afterward you will roll again. Before that, I want one more thing tonight."
"Anything."
"Lie down. Hands under the pillow. You do not touch me unless I put your hands where I want them. You do not ask to come. You watch."
He obeyed. Diana straddled his stomach first, then his chest, and touched herself above him where he could see everything.
When she got close she lowered herself to his mouth and let him finish her with his tongue.
After she came, she slid down and rubbed her wetness along his cock without taking him in, a cruel soft glide that made his hips lift helplessly.
"Stay," she whispered.
He stayed. She rubbed until he was shiny with her, then stopped, kissed his jaw, and said, "Sleep hungry."
He did, eventually.
Sunday's formal hour was the most focused they had ever done.
Diana used the soft cuffs, the familiar commands, the ritual language that turned their bedroom into a chosen other place.
She made him recite the rules. She made him thank her for denial.
She made him edge three times under her hand while counting backward from twenty, stopping at one each time with his body bowed and shaking.
She came on his face twice. Near the end she took him into her body, rode him with exquisite control, and when he begged, truly begged, she put her mouth to his ear.
"Come."
The release tore through him so hard he almost blacked out. It was not only pleasure. It was the return of something she had held in trust and then given back. He came with a broken shout and her name mixed into Mistress and wife until the words were the same thing.
Afterward she uncuffed him, wiped his face, and curled against his side while their heart rates slowed.
"Still green?" she asked quietly.
"Green. Very green."
"Any part you want changed before we continue the game?"
He thought about Friday's confession, the strap night, the kitchen conversations, the calendar squares, the way she checked in without breaking the spell.
"I want the honesty rule to stay," he said. "And I want you to keep getting stricter only when it still feels fun for you. If it ever becomes work, we stop."
"Agreed." She reached for the dice and set them on his bare stomach. "Then roll, Miles."
His hand closed around them. The plastic edges were familiar now, almost intimate.
Outside, afternoon light pressed against the curtains.
Inside, his body was spent and his mind was already leaning forward into the next number, the next stretch of wanting, the next version of Diana smiling when she said no and meaning care by it.
He shook the dice and cast them onto the sheet.
A four and a four.
Eight.
Diana looked at the result, then at him, and her smile turned slow and certain.
"Eight days," she said. "And this time, I already know exactly how I want to use them."
She picked up one die and traced a circle around his navel with it.
"Drink some water. Eat something. Then come back to bed as my husband for an hour." Her eyes flicked up, bright with promise. "After that, the game starts again."
Miles laughed under his breath, pulled her close, and kissed her hair.
"Yes, Diana," he said. Then, because both were true, he added, "Yes, Mistress."
On the nightstand, the second die still showed four. The calendar waited in the kitchen. The rest of their ordinary life waited with it: workweeks, groceries, shared jokes, the safe word neither of them had needed today.
And under all of that, chosen and mutual, the quiet heat of a number that meant he would ask, and she would decide, and both of them would mean yes when they kept playing.
