Chapter 1

Chapter One

Kylie Walker

On the day my world shifted on its axis, I woke up to an attractive man hovering over me. I didn’t need to open my eyes to know his dark hair was mussed, his eyes hooded, his features soft in the morning light.

It was a day like so many others, one that I didn’t think too much about because I was eight years into what I liked to consider my second chance with the man I could feel watching me as the morning took over and sleep was erased.

I won’t lie. I was a lucky woman in that I usually woke to a sexy man next to me.

Probably helped that I was married to two.

Not in the eyes of the law, of course. The government frowned on it for whatever reason.

But Travis, Gage, and I didn’t much care about how the government viewed our relationship. We were happy. All three of us.

“Mornin’,” Travis whispered.

I rolled to my back, sliding my arm over my eyes to briefly shut out the day. At least for a little while longer. Despite my desire to snuggle down in our giant, warm bed and shift back to dreamland, having him there brought a smile to my face. “Already?”

I gasped softly when he tugged the sheet, revealing my breasts to the cool air.

Oh, yes. Thank you for days like today.

“What are you doin’?” I whispered, peeking at Travis as I moved my arm, getting my first glimpse of his hungry gaze.

He smiled. “Startin’ the day right.”

God, I loved this man’s smile. I hadn’t seen enough of it in recent months, so when it was there, I found myself captivated, wanting to drink it in and memorize it.

“Kinda like you ended the day right with Gage in the shower last night?”

He leaned down and licked my nipple. “Exactly like that.”

Oh, that mouth. “Anyone ever tell you you’re spoiled?”

His soft chuckle rumbled in his chest as that delectable mouth sucked.

A moan escaped despite my best effort to hold it in.

When his hand slid over my stomach, making its way to my other breast, I drew in a ragged breath, exhaling when he began gently kneading it.

Oh, how I loved mornings like this. I loved waking up to Travis or Gage—in rare cases, both of them—because it was the perfect way to start the day.

They knew just how to wake me up, slowly raising my blood pressure while making my nerve endings sing.

Before long, I was whimpering, needing more, desperate for Travis to send me soaring into the abyss. To encourage him, I tugged on his arm, urging him over me.

“Is this where you want me?” he asked.

He settled between my thighs, his hips settling perfectly. I cradled him with my knees, clutching his arms with my fingertips, eagerly anticipating the moment when…

I moaned low in my throat at the same time Travis grunted, his thick, hard length sliding into me.

He began to move, a slow, intimate glide forward and back, and the pleasure grew in intensity.

I loved morning sex. I didn’t care so much for foreplay in the early hours because my body was too sensitive, too eager for that single perfect moment when one of them would fill me so exquisitely.

I rode the waves of ecstasy, expecting Travis to increase the pace, to give me what I so desperately needed. But he didn’t. He kept up the leisurely pace, sliding in deep, retreating slowly. It was magnificent, but it wasn’t enough. Not nearly enough.

“Travis…” Unable to stop myself, I gripped his ass, jerking him forward, forcing him deeper. Oh, yeah. Just like that. “More … please … more.”

He punched his hips forward.

“Ahh, yes,” I groaned.

It was utter perfection the way he slammed into me, deep, fast. But the kicker was when he slapped a hand on the headboard to keep us from sliding up the bed.

I arched and twisted, accepting the deliciously punishing thrusts of his hips.

He hovered on the brink of giving me everything I needed, and I knew exactly what he was doing.

He was purposely driving me crazy with pleasure, forcing me higher until the need to come overwhelmed me.

“Travis … oh, God, yes.” I dug my nails into his arms, trembling beneath the onslaught.

It was then that he moved, shifting to his knees, gripping my ankles so he could lift my legs into the air and plant my feet against his shoulders. He grabbed my hips, lifting my ass off the bed as he began pounding into me.

“Yes,” I screamed. “God, yes.”

He jarred me with every erotic thrust, causing my breasts to bounce.

I watched him watching me, saw the heat in his gaze.

It always worked to make me forget the flaws I saw whenever I looked in the mirror.

Travis and Gage didn’t seem to see them.

According to my husbands, the curves I’d gained from five pregnancies were utter perfection.

I didn’t know about all that, but it was hard to argue when they looked at me the way they did.

“You ready to come for me?” Travis growled softly, his hands gripping my hips firmly.

“Yes … yes … yes…” I moaned, taking every well-executed thrust.

Just when I thought he was going to send me into the ether, Travis moved, his arms snaking under my knees, bringing my feet away from his shoulders. He leaned forward, his body looming over me as I was bent nearly in half. I smiled, unable to help it. I knew what was coming.

A satisfied moan swirled up and out as Travis plowed into me, fucking me into the mattress.

This. This was everything. He knew I didn’t want sweet and gentle, and it never failed that he would give me that hard edge that drove my pleasure higher.

I saw his smile flash a second before I grabbed a pillow and placed it over my face, muffling my scream as I came. The last thing I wanted was for the kids to rush in thinking there was a problem.

As my body trembled, my orgasm slamming through me, I was aware of Travis going still, his cock pulsing deep inside me.

Gasping for air, I shoved the pillow away as he flopped to the bed, pulling me onto my side, his arms curling around me.

“Good mornin’,” he whispered, placing a kiss on my forehead.

I giggled, nipped his chin, and said, “Yes, I believe it is.”

And just like that, my day was underway.

Saturdays were generally spent with focus on the kids.

Katherine—we called her Kate—our oldest, was six going on sixteen.

She spent most of her time keeping her four younger siblings in line.

As best she could, anyway. Kade was four, though he seemed older than that.

At least to me. Then there was Avery. Three years old and full of light and laughter.

Next came Haden, who was now two and a half and getting into everything.

And last but not least was Maddox, the sweetest nineteen-month-old boy you would ever meet.

Needless to say, our days were filled from morning till night without hardly a second of downtime in between. Not that I was complaining. I wouldn’t trade my family for anything. Each day was filled with love and laughter—and sometimes tears—and I cherished every second.

Granted, it helped tremendously that the adult-to-child ratio was decently balanced—3:5—and we had help from family.

Between Travis’s parents and his six brothers and their significant others, there was always someone there to pitch in when we needed it.

In turn, we did the same for all of them, and it worked for us.

Of course you had days like today when there were kids eagerly anticipating the clock striking noon.

And one—Kate—who was keeping everyone informed of how much time remained before we hit the road.

Thankfully, the road she was referring to was the one that would lead to downtown Coyote Ridge, where the Fantasy Festival was kicking off today.

It was Travis’s fault. The time tracking, not the festival. He told the munchkins they had to wait until exactly noon before they could go. They’d talked about nothing else for the past few days, and thankfully, we were less than five minutes away from piling in the cars and heading that way.

In order to get things going, I hollered, “Hey, guys! You need to get your shoes on.”

Cheers erupted throughout the house, all from the munchkins.

I smiled to myself, double-checking that we had everything we needed while footsteps pounded overhead, kids running to get their things.

If I had to guess, they had piles of stuff parked by their doors because they were as proactive as I was. Most of the time, anyway.

“Thanks for that,” Gage teased as he rinsed his cup in the sink.

“Anytime.”

From the other room, I heard Travis say, “It’s not noon yet. As soon as it is…”

I chuckled. He loved keeping those kids on their toes. And I would admit, he was good at it.

“I sure hope they burn off some of this energy,” Travis said, joining us in the kitchen.

“It won’t matter,” I told him. “Their supply is endless.”

He grunted. “No, shit. You two are in charge of Maddox and Haden.”

“Don’t you worry.” I grinned. “I’ve got it all taken care of.”

“I’m not surprised.” He leaned in and kissed me on the cheek. “But you better get your runnin’ shoes on because they’re gonna tear ass outta here as soon as that clock strikes twelve.”

Travis was exaggerating, but not by much.

“Wait for it,” Gage said seconds before the numbers on the clock changed and the grandfather clock in the living room announced the hour.

As soon as that first chime sounded, Kade shouted, “Daddy-O! It’s time! It’s time! Let’s go-o-o-o!”

I glanced over to see Travis smiling as he pocketed his cell phone and grabbed the key to the Escalade.

“I’m comin’,” he called back, hefting the duffel bag onto his shoulder.

While he herded them, Gage and I headed upstairs to get Maddox and Haden. I passed Kate and Avery, who were racing toward the front stairs, clearly worried they might be left behind.

“Hurry! Hurry!” Kate chanted, as excited as her brother.

I laughed as I headed for Maddox’s room while Gage went to Haden’s.

“Hey, there, sweet boy,” I crooned, smiling. “Did you get a good nap?”
