KYLIE

I woke up wearing my onesie and the distinct memories of my night with Jordan. Daddy. Holy shit, Jordan wanted to be my Daddy.

My alarm went off a minute later, so I forced myself out of bed and padded to the bathroom.

After a quick shower, I went to the kitchen to put on a pot of coffee.

I usually waited until I got to work, but I needed to fully wake up or else I might crawl back into bed and have more amazing dreams about Jordan.

My apartment was unexpectedly clean. I was positive I didn’t put everything away and straighten up the living room, so Daddy must have done that for me.

Once again, my heart clenched at the kindness he continued to pour onto me.

He truly wanted to make me happy. He didn’t even ask me to give him a blow job after he did such a thorough job on me.

He just finished me off and then put me in bed.

It was hard to believe and part of me still didn’t. Was he too good to be true?

Maybe he was, but until he got tired of me, I was gonna enjoy every second I could.

And even though it was new and early, I couldn't keep this new relationship to myself anymore. I had to tell my girls.

I grabbed my phone and opened the Little Lovelies group chat. Without thinking about what I was gonna say, I typed out a simple message to my friends. Okay, so… I have a new Daddy. His name is Jordan, and it's really new…but it's very real and I'm so happy!

The response was immediate and a slew of texts all came at the same time.

Poppy was first on the list. What?!?!

Then Willa was right under her. Um…how long has this been going on?

Jasmine wasn’t far behind Willa. Okay, we need all the tea. Right. Now.

Cassie’s text chimed before I could respond to any of them. I have so many questions, but I’m so happy for you, Ky. You deserve to have the best Daddy ever.

I laughed out loud in my kitchen and did my best to give them the highlights. He’s a regular at The Bean Box, and he also goes to the commercial kitchen I’ve been baking out. We’ve only been on a few dates, but he’s amazing.

Poppy responded a few minutes later. When can we meet him? Will you bring him to a playdate?

As expected, Willa shared the news with her Daddy. Troy has questions too btw.

Poppy must have done the same. Carter said he’d like to meet him if he comes into the shop today.

My tummy did a little flip at the thought of my friends and their Daddies all meeting Jordan.

Not because I was worried they wouldn’t like him, but I wasn’t sure if they’d think I was moving too fast. Then again, they all moved pretty quickly when it came to their own relationships, so I trusted them to trust me.

I gotta get ready for work but we’ll talk more later. Kisses.

Even as I walked through the door at The Bean Box, I was still smiling. Until I saw Carter already behind the counter with his arms crossed as he waited for me like a long-lost big brother. “Uh, good morning.”

"So." He didn't even let me get my apron on before getting right to the point. "I hear you've met someone who wants to be your Daddy."

I rolled my eyes as I poured a chai for myself. "I see word travels fast."

"Word travels faster when it comes to you girls and your safety." He didn't smile at his comment, but there was warmth underneath the stern facade he was trying to project. "If he comes in today, I want to meet him."

"Fine." I bit the inside of my cheek, feeling a bit of nerves. "But please be nice. He’s really a good guy, Carter. I promise."

"I'm always nice, kid." He exhaled and finally cracked a reassuring smile. "But I want to make sure he understands what it means to be your Daddy. There are lots of guys out there who would take advantage of someone as kind as you."

Poppy was lucky to have a man like Carter. But I was too. "He's not like that, Carter. You’ll see."

"I will." He softened enough to place his hand on my shoulder and give me a squeeze. "I know you’ve been lonely since Troy, and we all want you to be happy again. I hope this guy is the real deal."

"He is." The certainty in my own voice surprised me, but I knew it was real.

Carter seemed satisfied enough to let it go. “I’ll be in the back, but call me if he comes in.”

The morning rush seemed to start early and kept me too busy to worry about whatever Carter might or might not say to Jordan. But when Jordan walked in the door, my joy at seeing him was quickly replaced with nervousness.

"Hey, gorgeous." His smile made my chest feel warm all the way up my neck. "How are you this morning?"

"Good, but..." I was already reaching for a cup to make his drink. “Um, my boss, Carter, wants to meet you.”

“He does?” Jordan seemed confused by that, and it was a reasonable response. Maybe I hadn’t given him enough information.

“Yeah, he’s Poppy’s Daddy. Is that okay?"

“Sure.” He looked around. “Is he here?”

“Yep.” I finished his drink and cracked the door to the back. “Carter, can you come out for a minute?”

Carter was out a moment later and went straight to Jordan. After a quick introduction, the men excused themselves and walked outside.

The whole time they were out there talking, my tummy was in knots. What if Jordan felt threatened by Carter? What if Carter was rude and said something inappropriate about me? I didn’t think he would, but I also didn’t think he’d want to talk to my new boyfriend at all, so what did I know?

I tried to focus on my work with my heart in my throat while sneaking glances through the window every few seconds.

I couldn't hear what they were saying, but Jordan's posture seemed relaxed the whole time.

That had to be a good sign. That helped me relax a bit, but not as much as when I saw them laughing before they walked back inside.

Carter waited until I finished the orders I was working on before giving me his report. "He's a good guy, Ky." His words were surprising, even though I knew they were true. "We've actually crossed paths before at Primal. It was a while back, but I got a good feeling off him."

The relief I felt was almost palpable as my shoulders lowered and I fully exhaled. "Yeah?"

"Yeah." Carter squeezed my shoulder once again and winked. "Don't tell him I said I like him. I've got a reputation to maintain."

"Your secret's safe." I threw my arms around him in a quick hug and then turned back to the line of customers I’d been ignoring.

Jordan was waiting by the pickup counter, and I could tell he was happy to have connected with Carter.

"Good talk?" I asked as I lined up two cappuccinos for a customer.

"It was." He leaned closer to the counter so no one could hear our conversation. "Carter takes his job seriously."

"He takes me seriously." I suddenly felt extra happy, and that made me brave enough to say the next thing on my mind without overthinking it first. "Hey, so, the Little Lovelies do a playdate every Friday night. This week, we’re making ice cream sundaes at Poppy's Place. It’s right across the street.

Would you like to come with me so you can meet everyone at once? "

A warm smile crossed his face, and he nodded. "I'd love that, cupcake."

"Me too."

He reached across the counter for my hand and gave me a quick peck. "I can’t wait."

That simple gesture made me float through the rest of my shift on a cloud of happiness.
