Chapter 10

HUDSON

Walking into my room, I see a beautiful angel sleeping in my bed. Naked, thoroughly fucked, and showered in the morning sunlight.

Sliding off my boxers and then crawling back into bed, I wrap Piper into my arms and tuck her head underneath my chin. I’ve already noticed on several occasions how she molds perfectly into my arms. She sleeps way too peacefully.

I slept deep, and admittedly, that isn’t normally the case when there is someone else between the sheets. They either move too much, breathe too hard, or I just let them stay because it was routine.

Not with Piper.

I still woke early because that’s just my internal clock, but Tuesdays are my quieter days, and I don’t have anything on the training or meeting schedule today.

Still, I went downstairs to make sure the coffee machine had enough beans for when we have breakfast later, then returned upstairs and stood on the balcony to catch the sunrise.

I thought of waking Piper, but she needs her rest after last night, as we were at it until the early hours, and we will be doing a repeat later too if I have any influence on the matter.

She hums a sound, and I feel her shuffle in my hold. “Mmm, good morning.” Her drowsy murmur is weakening me, I feel it.

My eyes dip down to see the line of her lips stretch, and she has an elated look, with her eyes fluttering open.

“Morning.”

I should let us lie like this, but she’s wiggling against me, pressing her body into mine, and her heated look informs me that her version of waking up isn’t the sweet scene I attempted to create in my head.

“Piper.” I chuckle softly before I roll us slightly until I’m on my back and her body is splayed on top of me.

She presses her finger against my lips. “Shh.”

I don’t protest, nor would I ever. The feeling of her hand wrapping around my cock, gripping and pumping to see if I’m ready to go, has me slipping into another world, one where I am equally relaxed yet have no patience.

I quickly slide my fingers between us, and I feel how she woke up ready. I attempt to reach to the side table, but it’s hopeless, and Piper completes the task of grabbing the little square package.

I get my guy secure in record time, and when I feel her pussy wrap around my cock, we both moan in harmony.

She places popcorn kisses along my face as her forearms rest by my ears. Her body is flush on top of me, and my hands hold her hips in place as I thrust up into her.

We simmer in this position for a few minutes, using kisses instead of words until that turns into panting breaths.

By the time she is completely spent on top of me, I’m not sure leaving this bed is even in our cards for today.

I stroke her hair and kiss her forehead, mumbling against her skin. “This is how every morning with you should be.”

“I agree.”

Energy must overcome her, as she rolls off me with the sheet tangled around her body. The color on her cheeks is my doing and a sense of pride roars inside of me.

“Shower then breakfast?” She seems wide awake now.

“Lead the way.” I grin.

She yanks my arm and leads us to my bathroom.

The shower is quick, but she takes the opportunity to caress my body, and I do the same to her.

In no time, I’m out on the patio in cotton shorts and t-shirt, sitting on one of the lounge chairs, looking at the lake with mugs of coffee in my hands.

I see Piper walking toward me in yoga pants and a tank top, and I realize this woman has me wrapped around her finger, and I’m not complaining.

Handing her the coffee, she comes to sit between my legs with her back to my stomach. Nice. I like this position too.

“I’ll bring my sketch pad out here later if you don’t mind.”

“Not at all. I’ll do some reading and we can call it a domesticated morning.”

A lazy morning of breakfast, coffee, reading, and Piper sounds idyllic. We can do laid back, and I appreciate that she seems to enjoy the little things in life.

“This is perfect. The air is so clear and crisp. Not too cold or warm, and just looking at the lake and trees makes me feel so relaxed,” she mentions before taking a sip of her coffee.

“Here I thought it was what transpired last night that did it,” I retort.

She glances over her shoulder with a smirk then kisses me quickly on the mouth before resettling into our embrace. “You don’t have coaching stuff this morning?”

“Nah, you somehow have impeccable timing and had your way with me on the perfect night of the week. Tuesdays are the league’s down day. For now, I’m free, but when the season starts then Tuesdays are my days to go over videos with the other coaches.”

“When does game season start?”

“Well, we have summer training starting in a few weeks, then September to February is football season, and February depends on how good we are. Wow, you really know nothing about football, and you live in Chicago.” I’m still astonished by this fact.

She shrugs. “I’m the exception.”

“That you are.” I purse my lips against the rim of the mug for a second.

“Anyway, when it’s season time, my schedule is crazy.

Trainings, games, management meetings. We travel half the time.

It kind of takes time to adjust if you’re not used to it.

” I hear it in my voice that I’m throwing out testers to see if she can handle it.

“Sounds grueling.” She sounds unenthused.

Oh, not what I was hoping to hear.

She continues, “I guess it just means you need someone waiting for you when you get home. And if I get to look at this view every day, then I may just volunteer for the job.” Her tone is peppier.

I wrap my arms tighter around her, as her answer is good enough for now. “Listen, with summer training coming up, I won’t be in the city, as the training facility isn’t far from here. Will you come back?”

Piper moves to angle her body to look at me. There’s a look that I can only describe as vulnerability on her face. “You want me to come back?”

“Have I done anything to you in the last 48 hours that says differently?”

She licks her lips. “You have been a perfect host. But coming back… I have no clue what we’re doing,” she states.

“Getting to know one another. Not trying to run away from this chemistry between us Enjoying the view. The list goes on,” I assure her.

The corner of her mouth tugs into a soft smile. Clearly, she likes my answer.

“Can we talk about the topic you kind of brushed under the rug?” she asks.

“Which is?” I take another sip of my coffee then set it to the side table.

“April.”

I tip my nose up in recognition then sigh.

“You know, I always tell my son that it’s only complicated if you make it complicated.

As I said, she’s a big girl, but I think you’re closer with my niece than I am with her.

I love the kid, and I’m happy she asked me to walk her down the aisle, but I don’t see her as much as I used to.

I would like to think she would find the coincidence of our meeting charming. ”

Piper subtly shakes her head. “That’s not April.

Besides, I’m not sure what we would even tell her because I have no idea what we’re doing, but not telling her seems like a lie too.

There is no win, but I know she will be mortified when she learns you’re the mystery guy, considering what I told her.

I just don’t want to take away from her moment of happiness with her engagement.

Actually, I just don’t want to lose a friend, and this could be a one-way ticket to that. ”

I lean back on the chair and take Piper with me. “Okay.” I hear defeat in my tone.

“Okay?”

“You said it yourself that you’re not sure what we’re doing.” There is a tinge of annoyance in my tone and not because of Piper, but at myself, because I don’t have a clear answer either, other than I’m completely infatuated.

“This may implode one day, Hudson, but I don’t want that to happen right now,” she adds.

I blow out a breath. “I maybe see your point. By the way, my son kind of knows.”

Piper immediately comes up to sitting and presses her hand against my chest. “What?!”

I laugh at her facial expression. “Drew isn’t April. We have an unusual relationship, we talk about things, and when you decided to call me, he was there, so I explained.”

“Which details?” She seems concerned.

“Who you are. But don’t worry, he’ll only tell his wife.”

“You’re crazy, Hudson.” Now she seems entertained.

I take the mug of coffee from her hand so we have nothing blocking our ability to touch.

“Listen, you’re right, and we’ll keep our secret…

for now.” I slide my fingers through her hair until I’m holding her head firmly in place.

“As much as I love the idea of this place being our hideaway from the world, eventually, if this thing between us is something more, then it will come out.”

And I hope she can handle that because I see something unrecognizable in her eyes.

“Tell me you’ll come back next week?” I feel almost desperation inside of me. I need more of her.

She nuzzles her cheek against my wrist. “I think… I can make that happen.”

“Can and want are two different things,” I inform her.

The corner of her mouth curves. “I maybe shouldn’t, but I can’t seem to say no… I want it to happen.”

That was the answer I needed, and I cover her lips with my own in a demanding kiss.

“I have a week then to decide what I’m going to do with you next time,” I confirm just as I slide my hand up under the fabric of her shirt.
