Piper

It feels like I just fell asleep, sunlight mocking me as it trickles in through the blinds. I should really get up and head into work, but Mack’s arm is banded around my waist, my back firmly glued to his chest, and I wish I could stay like this forever.

Last night was amazing.

It was more than just the anticipation and sex—although that was all amazing—it was his desperation at the bar that went beyond anything I’ve ever experienced. He made me feel like I was the only woman in the room.

That he only had eyes for me.

Normally, I’d laugh it off as being na?ve, but I can’t this time.

It felt so real.

But can it last? Is this still just a good time?

“Go back to sleep,” he murmurs. “Better yet, put me inside you. It’s too early for you to be thinking that hard.”

Instead of arguing, I roll over so I’m facing him, his dark hair mussed from sleep and all the times I ran my fingers through it last night.

He’s perfect.

Sweet and handsome with a body that has me agreeing to almost anything as soon as our clothes come off.

Hooking my leg over his hip, I slide the head of his cock against my opening, whimpering as I use him to tease my clit before sliding down again. Canting my hips, I push him inside me and roll him onto his back, straddling him as the sheet falls from my body.

Mack grunts, his hands finding my hips as I slide up and down his length, grinding down on him with a lazy, delicious rhythm.

“Wait, wait, wait,” he pants, his expression almost pained as he holds me still on his lap. “I’ve never done this bare.”

I hear the words, but my brain is taking twice as long to process them, my silence undoubtedly making this worse as he waits for me to respond.

“I’m on birth control.”

“What?” He leans his head up to look at me before swearing under his breath as I tighten my walls around him. “Don’t do that.”

“Hmm?”

“Fuck. You’re gonna get me to come and—dammit, Piper—not yet.”

“I got tested after my breakup,” I tell him, tightening around his cock again as he grits his teeth, his eyes wild and his jaw clenched.

“I’m good,” he manages, his fingers digging into the globes of my ass so hard I’ll probably have bruises, but I don’t care. I like him like this. “Got tested a couple of months ago—haven’t been with anyone since.”

“Really?”

“Yes,” he rasps. “Fuck, Piper. You’re gonna make me come.”

“I want you to come,” I purr, leaning down to press a lingering kiss to his lips, my nipples sensitive as they drag across his chest. “Let go, Mack. Show me what it’s like to be your girl.”

“Fucking hell.”

The words are a pained roar, his hips pistoning up into me, my tits bouncing as he forces me to meet him thrust for thrust.

Using me.

Commanding me.

And I love every second.

Slipping my hand between my legs, I throw my head back and cry out as I circle my clit, already so close.

I just want us to come together, to feel him spill inside me.

Mack grunts and swears, his body tense and muscles straining as he groans my name, the sound of his pleasure sending me over the edge with him as I ride out my own orgasm.

It’s glorious and unlike anything I’ve ever felt before.

I want to just stay in this moment forever.

“Piper, that was—”

Bang, bang, bang.

The knocking on my front door cuts off whatever Mack was about to say, as Rory’s muffled voice filters down the hall.

“Open up, Piper. I think it’s time we had a talk.”

MACK

“Just give me a minute to talk to her first, okay?” Piper says, pulling a shirt over her head and trying to smooth down her hair.

“You look like I just fucked the hell out of you.” I smirk, stepping into my jeans as she heads for the door. “She’s gonna understand.”

Piper nods but I’m not convinced, grabbing my shirt and putting it on as I trail behind her toward the front door, staying out of sight because I told her I would.

For now.

“Rory, what are you doing here?” Piper asks, faltering back a step when my sister barges in.

“I cannot believe you’re hooking up with my brother,” Rory says with a disbelieving laugh that I can brush off only because she’s my sister. “And I can’t believe no one could be bothered to tell me.”

“It’s not like we planned it and you were sick—”

“So you’re just fucking around then?”

“It hasn’t been that long and we’re just—”

“God, you aren’t serious, are you?” The question is a scoff, unease settling into my gut as my sister presses on. “Piper, you know better.”

“It’s just fun. But also what the hell does that mean? He’s your brother, Rory.”

“I know he’s my brother, and dammit… I know he’s here. You’re hiding him, Piper. What does that say?”

“I’m allowed to have fun, and I’m not hiding him. Things are not that serious.”

Just fun? She thinks this is all just a game?

“Are you sure? Because it’s the summer and there are plenty of nonlocals this time of year and yet he’s with you.”

“I told you it’s not serious.”

Piper gapes at me as I step out into the center of the room—like she forgot I was here. “Mack is—was—very serious and fuck, Piper, really? We agreed we’re dating,” I snap.

“We agreed to take things slow,” she fires back.

“You’re dating?” Rory screeches as Piper ignores my sister and narrows her eyes at me.

“And you’re gonna act like things aren’t serious after…” I motion in the general direction of her bedroom where she let me come inside her with nothing between us. “Really? You’re gonna say that doesn’t matter.”

“We haven’t talked about…everything yet,” she hisses but I don’t want to hear it.

“I told you I don’t need the bars and the girls. I just want you. Dating. Exclusive. And now you wanna say it’s not that serious?”

“Mack, listen…”

“No,” I bark, my sister’s eyes widening and her mouth forming a little O as she’s caught between us.

“I don’t need any of that.” I wave in the vague direction of the world outside.

“I never needed any of it.” Swallowing hard, I force the lump in my throat down and stand straighter.

“Then again, maybe I do, you know because we’re not serious and all. ”

“Mack, please, just give me a minute, okay?” I watch as Piper runs her hand over her hair, her eyes glassy and her bottom lip trembling. “It’s a lot and I thought…”

“You just thought what, Piper? I wasn’t clear enough about my intentions? That I’m not at your house, in your bed, and spending every available moment I have with you? It was unclear when I said I’ve never been happier than I am with you?”

“Shit. Mack, I’m sorry,” Rory tries but I shake my head because I’m done here.

“I’ll deal with you later,” I tell my sister before turning on the girl that’s crushed my heart in record time.

“I’m not some loser, Piper. I work hard and yeah, I played hard but that was before you.

That was before I thought we could be something real.

I’ve done nothing but treat you like a queen, but it doesn’t matter, does it?

You’re just like everyone else who thinks I’m just out there raising hell. ”

“That’s not fair,” she cries, moving toward me as I back myself toward the door, shoving my feet into my boots. My truck is still at the bar, but right now I don’t mind because I could use a good walk.

I need to get out of here, but not before I land one last parting blow. “You’re right, it’s not fair, because I’m fucking head over heels in love with you when I never had a chance.”

I hear a gasp, but I don’t know if it’s from my sister or Piper as I turn and push my way out onto the street. Honestly, it doesn’t matter. They can have a good laugh over it.

It wouldn’t be the first time.
