Chapter 44 #2
I turn around and scream and Jake is standing in the shower with me laughing his ass off. I pinch his arm hair. "Ouch!"
I smile smugly. "Serves you right, Jackass!"
He laughs again. "Okay. Maybe I deserved that.
" He grabs me quickly, earning another shriek from me.
He puts me in a big ol' bear hug, my favorite kind.
I run my fingers through his unruly hair.
I'd call him adorable if he weren't being so annoying right now.
"I'm sorry, baby, I didn't think about it possibly scaring you.
I was too busy being a pervert and staring at that perfect ass. "
I blush. "Perfect? It's got dimples, Jake."
He smiles against my wet hair. "Dimples are my favorite."
"Well, something sure is happy to see me." He stops my hand before I can grab his length.
"Stop it, you naughty minx. You promised me a talk today and your sexy female sorcery will not seduce me."
I laugh. "Dramatic much?"
"Always."
"Okay. We'll talk. You want me to wash you first?" I creepily waggle my eyebrows.
He laughs, shaking his head. "No! Stop, you seducer of men."
I point down to his appendage. "He's saying otherwise." It's my turn to laugh. As I live and breathe, Jake is flustered. I’ve made The Jake Ryan flustered. "Jake, is that a blush I see on your cheeks?"
He looks greedily at me from head to toe and blushes even more.
"Umm...no?" I’m feeling empowered so I stand on my tiptoes and give my Sex King the kiss of his life, and then I get out of the shower, not sparing him another glance.
After I dry off and head for the door, I hear him grumble. "I'm gonna get you back for that."
"I'm sure you will, and I'm sure I'll enjoy every single minute of that sweet torture."
He looks perplexed. "Well, thanks, now I'm going to get blue balls. But I'm sticking to what I said. You won't be getting any of this until we have our talk."
I smile. "I said we'd talk. No reason to get snooty with me, The Jake Ryan."
He blows me a kiss and starts singing some old song that I've heard before.
I can't quite remember the name of it, though.
I hate when that happens, that'll bother me until I remember.
He slaps the shower curtain shut. Nothing but attitude today.
Geez. I head into the bedroom and start getting ready.
I'm still on the fence about whether I should meet up with my father.
The only pro I see is that it'll get me closer to meeting my siblings.
Jake waltzes in the room like he owns the place. "Did you take care of your problem?" I ask sweetly.
"Yes, if you must know, I had to bust a load in the shower like I'm twelve because my forever wouldn't talk to me last night."
I roll my eyes. However, Jake's use of "my forever" made my heart catapult clear to my throat. I hope with everything within me that we are together for the rest of our days. We are still so young. "Very humbling, I'm sure."
"The absolute worst."
Wearing track pants and a fitted shirt, he comes to sit in front of me on the floor where I should’ve been doing my makeup.
I'd been watching him get dressed instead.
He still makes my mouth water and I don't know if that will ever stop.
He smiles at me, taking my smaller hand in his bigger one.
"Baby, I don't want to pressure you into making a decision.
You'll need to decide, though, and I can't give you the answer to what you should choose, but I will help you in any way possible. I’ll be by your side always.
I want you to live life with no regrets.
It's you and me against the world, Sweet Cheeks. "
He can be so sweet sometimes. Once again, his simple words have brought fresh tears to my eyes.
I place my free hand on his right cheek.
We are partners in every sense of the word.
"I know, and I'm ready to talk about it now.
Jake, how does he have any right to even ask to see me?
It's been years. Literal years Jake! He has a whole new family and everything.
I can't stop thinking about why now? What's his endgame? "
He shrugs. "I can't give you an answer to any of those questions. He has no rights to you, but maybe he has a changed man."
My mind wants to reject his last statement, but I can't outright.
The truth is, I don't know. I don't know anything about him.
What if he has changed, and he wants to make it right finally.
"I want to argue that there is no way he's a good man now, but I can't. I don't know.
I hope for my sibling's sake that he has been a great father to them.
Their pictures on Facebook make them seem like a picture-perfect family. Looks can often be deceiving, though."
"Yes, they can. Let's make a pro and cons list."
"Okay. All the best decisions come that way."
"Definitely."
We make notes of pros and cons and it ends up being a tie.
Maybe it's because my brain is still foggy from sleep, but I can’t develop any more reasons for the two columns.
I show Jake. "Don't answer this aloud. Only answer when you're finally ready.
But tell me this baby, when you are a 179, and you're finally on your death bed, will you regret not taking the chance? "
I hadn't thought of this decision in those terms. Would I? Yes, the answer is yes. "Why didn't you start with that question, Jake. I don't have to even think about it. I would regret not listening to him and not meeting them. Devastated probably."
"Well, that's your answer then. I should probably warn you, though. If your sperm donor daddy makes your pretty face ugly cry, I'll hurt his face until it's unrecognizable."
I love his possessiveness. "Don't worry, baby. If he hurts me, I'll make his face unrecognizable."
He chuckles. "That's my girl."
