Chapter 18 #3
“Mmhmm.” Her brown eyes dazzled with intrigue as they shot from mine to my lips as she stepped closer and reached between us.
The cool air hit the inside of my mouth as she rolled down my lip, the vein in her neck throbbing as she held back.
Her tongue darted out, but she swiped it against her own lips, unfortunately.
The heat crawling over my skin was a sign of just how badly I was hoping she would wet something else. Me.
“Fearless,” she breathed before letting go of my lip but not leaving my mouth with her warm hand.
The hollow casing of my chest felt fuller than ever before. I was showing myself to her, in a way nudity couldn’t compare, and she was…accepting me. “That’s right, because that’s what I always want to be. It’s harder than you think.” I found it as easy as inhaling to confess that to her.
“I’ve met your family, Marco. It has to be.”
I didn’t want her to do that. I didn’t want her to feel bad for me. I didn’t think I could take that. “It’s nothing, really,” I forced out, brushing her hair at her forehead away from her face. I felt drawn to touch her in such a heavy, intense way that I felt like I might die if I didn’t.
She ran a hand over my gelled hair, while her other one shifted to the seam of my lips before quickly falling.
Fuck. How I wanted nothing more than to open my mouth and watch as her delicate finger fell in, so I could hold it there, capturing it between my teeth.
Just as it felt like she had captured me most days.
“You don’t have to tell me any more, but it’s not nothing. ”
She was right. It wasn’t nothing, just as whatever was sparking between us wasn’t. Although, I couldn’t pay attention to either of those things, only trap her, even more than she already was in this elevator, snaking an arm around her waist as I brought her flush against me.
Capturing the back of my neck in an embrace, she leaned up toward me, and I made it easier on her, arching down. It felt like we were pouring gasoline on the situation, but damn it, I didn’t care. Not now.
She didn’t wait but a second to crash our mouths together.
Blood pounded loudly in my ears as a throaty moan came from her, her tongue darting out and caressing the seam of my lips, once…
twice before I finally opened. I could practically feel her raw desire radiating from her body, and I gave into what I wanted, tracing my hand up her shirt before reaching her bra.
I hated bras.
They were like underwear.
Always and forever in the fucking way.
I could have easily removed it with a single flick of my wrist, but I fought the urge when her tongue dragged across mine. Her taste worse than alcohol. At least that I had strength to stop drinking after a while, but her, it seemed nearly impossible. I would become an addict.
As we further explored each other, better than we had during that ridiculous engagement session, it felt like someone had tossed a match on the gasoline.
My palm cupped her full breast right over the bra, my thumb playing with the lacy edge, fighting temptation and the urge to push it aside and pinch her nipple.
Grabbing her ponytail with my other hand, I pulled and pushed her to angle her head with me, so I could have better access. Meanwhile, her hands were creeping up my arms, and my muscles were tensing.
If no one ever came to do their job and get us out of here, I would be okay with it.
The fire spread, the entire situation blowing up when her nails dug into my skin as she maneuvered her body, pushing her breast further into my palm.
I gave it a hard squeeze, and she responded with her hand flying into my hair, pulling mercilessly on the strands.
“I feel like I’m interrupting something here, but I got the elevator working again. Do you two care to come out so others can get in?” a voice asked, and I realized we had a problem.
The problem wasn’t that I hadn’t heard him, because I had.
The problem lay in the fact that I didn’t care for what he was saying.
It meant I had to break away from Brooklyn, and I didn’t want that.
Then again, a part of me wondered if I should have been thanking him.
After all, this wasn’t supposed to happen.
It was nothing more than contractual, even though sometimes it felt like that wasn’t the case.
Once we separated and I removed my hand from her shirt, I cleared my throat and picked up my jacket.
Brooklyn licked her lips that were swollen from mine being on hers. Her cheeks were flushed too.
“Yeah, thanks, man. Way to take a duration to fix it,” I told the guy who was standing in front of a crowd of three people waiting to get on.
He winked. “Pretty sure you should be happier about that.”
Brooklyn let out a slight gasp before laughing.
Shaking my head, I decided maybe it shouldn’t have happened, but it did, and until we went our separate ways, back to our own rooms, I wasn’t going to care.
Wrapping my arm around her shoulder, I pulled her under my arm, leading the way as we left.
