Chapter 15

Do Our Part

Val

I sit at the foot of the bed, rubbing lotion into my skin as I’m once again lost in thought. I can’t stop thinking about Roni’s question about Sammy’s friends. As I try to think of which of the other kids he allows to hang around him, other than Jordan’s little cousins, I come up empty.

The two of them and Jordan are always getting into trouble together when she’s around. From time to time, I’ve seen him with the Black cousins, but Jordan is the only one I can say is a friend of his.

Their boys tend to hang together in their own little clique, their girls are the same. I haven’t noticed Sammy around his own cousins much. Not for long. As this all sets in, I have to ask myself a real question.

Do I really want this life for my sons? Sammy can see his enemies coming for him. My boys can’t. Uri and I can teach them all we know, but do I really want that?

There is a harsh reality to being a Donati. We stand on the front lines. Weakness isn’t something we can afford.

“What are you thinking so hard about?” Uri asks as he comes from the bathroom with a towel around his waist.

I look up and blink my thoughts away. As I focus, I take my husband in. At forty-five, Uri is still fine as fuck.

He’s keeping up with me to this day. At thirty-two, I have thought of asking for one more baby. I love our four, but they’re all growing up so fast.

I shake my head clear. “Do you ever question our sons following in your footsteps?”

“Depends on if you mean as hitters or as don.”

I groan. “That’s worse than what I was thinking.”

“What are you thinking?”

“I don’t know. Sammy already has a lot on his plate. He can see what’s coming and we’ll all prepare him. What about Inzo and Nori? We can prepare them all we want, but we don’t know who will come for them.

“We’re placing targets on their backs. This doesn’t concern you?”

He stands before me then dips his head to kiss my forehead. The gesture is calming as he pours his love into it.

“Bella, I watched my father’s life be cut short in front of me. You watched the same with your mother and sister. Do you truly believe I haven’t already begun to prepare our sons and daughters for whatever may come?”

I gasp. “Are you serious?”

“Okay, not Eva yet, of course, but the others are already learning. Like Sammy, they too will be ready. Concern?” He scoffs.

“I do not think anyone in their right mind would see those targets and aim for them. If our boys chose to walk away, I will allow it, but if they want to fill my shoes, they will be more than ready.”

I sigh. Uri sits beside me and places a hand on my thigh. I turn to him, and he leans in to peck my lips.

My belly still fills with butterflies from his touch. I love him more than I ever thought I could. The way he protects our family only causes me to fall for him more and more with each day.

“I think we all partied a little too much for a children’s party.” He chuckles as he gives my thigh a squeeze.

“Sammy was happy at the end and that’s all that matters.”

“Yes, I can’t help wondering what his vision was about.”

“I thought it was about that bitch.”

He nods. “It was, but he wouldn’t or couldn’t say what exactly he saw.”

“This is all so crazy.”

“I have no doubt as to whether or not I will help. I’m just wondering how. I want to give my little mate all the support he needs,” he murmurs as if in thought.

“Sammy is a fast learner. I have no doubt that he will be able to be his father’s successor when the time comes.”

He heaves a deep breath. “Sammy is brilliant, and his decision-making skills are impressive at his age. I would love to see him in LaSalle’s role. Now that I have more of an understanding of how his gift works, I have even more faith in him.”

“This is true. Ugh, I’m going to sleep. I had way more fun than I should have.

“Creating an arcade in their backyard was genius for a birthday party. I love that there was something for everyone.”

“It was fun. Inzo has already asked to have the same for his and Nori’s tenth birthday.”

“Good, I will make it happen. I had more fun than I have in years. I haven’t played Centipede in … God, I can’t even remember.

“The foosball tournaments almost made me pee my pants. I thought Nick was going to choke Ryan before the night ended. That was a blast.”

“It was. It was good to see everyone there without all the stress.”

“Yeah, but that bitch is still out there. That’s a problem I want handled.”

“We all do, love. It’s not that simple.”

I look at him and narrow my eyes. “You keep saying that. I see it otherwise. I say we find her and hush that bitch for good. Especially now that we know this isn’t over.”

“Val, we don’t know when this becomes a problem for Sammy. She might not even be in the picture when what his vision showed him comes to pass. We don’t know if the two are relevant to each other.”

“Yeah, but—”

“Val, there is more to it than LaSalle or Misha has shared. We will not interfere.”

“Whatever,” I grumble and get up to climb into bed.

However, before I can get two steps away, he grabs my wrist and tugs me into his lap. Shoving a hand in my hair, he tugs my head back and takes my lips in a demanding kiss.

That bitch is forgotten as I wrap my arms around his neck and open for him. Uri kisses to own. I will always be his, so I open up and allow him to devour me.

“Where do you think you are going?”

“No one wants to tell me the truth, so I’m going to bed.”

He flicks his tongue out over my lips and groans. Leaning into my face, he ghosts his open mouth over the side of my face and back down, passing over my neck to my collarbone.

He then begins to speak against my skin. “I had planned to put you to bed, love. I haven’t changed my mind.”

“I’m not in the mood.”

“I see. Challenge accepted,” he croons.

With that, he stands with me in his arms. He moves around the bed with me in his hold. Uri tugs the covers back then places me down.

With a pointed look, as if to tell me not to move, he backs away and picks up the controller for the sound system in our bedroom. The speakers come to life, and moments later, Keith Sweat’s “Nobody” begins to play through the room.

I grin as he then saunters to the foot of the bed. My eyes are glued to my husband as he reaches over his head and grabs ahold of the bedpost above him.

His muscles bulge and flex with the gesture. I drop my gaze to his chiseled chest, taunt stomach, and abs. Uri is more fit and ripped at forty-five than he was eleven years ago.

I bite back my smile as his tented towel grabs my attention as his dick begins to come to life. No issues there. If I wanted that baby, we wouldn’t have a problem making it.

“Eyes up here, love,” he says huskily.

I lift my gaze to his and he begins to give me a show. I cover my mouth to keep from laughing as he rolls his body like a stripper. He balls his fists in front of him and starts to slow hump the air.

I’m so shocked, I can’t stop laughing. God, I love this man. He knows just how to pull me out of my funky mood.

I have enjoyed learning about this fun, silly side of him. Uri has made himself human for me. Not the supervillain the rest of the world has made him into.

If I had another fifty years with this man, I wouldn’t change anything about him. As if reading my mind, he continues his dance with a smile on his face. His towel falls to the floor as he sings along with the song.

“You’ve been hanging with Joe and his bunch too much,” I laugh and shake my head.

“Maybe. Is it working for me?”

I shrug. “Maybe, Mr. Donati. You’re looking good, but what else you got?”

He stops and lifts a brow. Grabbing his length, he begins to stroke himself as he looks at me. I bite my lip, wanting to be the one stroking him.

“The more you challenge me, the more trouble you are asking for.”

I lie back and place my arms over my head. “Old man, you’re still talking. Che cosa farai, Uri?”

He growls and places a knee on the foot of the bed. He then begins to climb up my body slowly. I push his hair out of his face as it has fallen into his eyes.

He climbs over me and settles between my legs then takes my lips in a heated kiss. I run my hand up his strong back as he dips his head to capture my nipple in his mouth. I moan and throw my head back.

“Uri,” I call out as he kisses his way across my collarbone and then my neck.

Pulling back, he reaches for the nightstand and takes out the bottle of coconut oil I keep there. I smirk, knowing this is about to get messy and delicious. Uri pumps the oil all over my breasts and stomach, then rubs it in.

When he takes my lips again, I cry out into his mouth as he deepens the kiss and palms one of my breasts. Drinking from my mouth until he has his fill, he then moves his way back down my body. He kisses my skin as if in reverence to every inch.

Glancing down my body, I watch him. His face is glistening from the oil on my body. He smiles back at me as his locks are spilling into his face again while he looks up my body into my eyes.

The heat and passion I see in his gaze turn me on and make me want him even more. I reach to push his hair out of his face again. He grabs my wrist and inhales my skin before he plants kisses against my flesh.

I bite my lip and lift my leg at his side to rub it against him.

He groans and grabs the oil to pump some over my thighs.

Once he has oil all over me, he places his hand on my thigh and rubs it into my skin.

Slowly, he moves to kiss his way to my inner thigh, where he pauses to suck and lick the skin there.

I bow off the bed calling his name. When he moves to dive into my core with his mouth, I go breathless. Using his thumb, he pushes my hood back and dives in deeper.

I lace my fingers in his hair and lift my hips to ride his face. As I come down from what feels like my millionth orgasm—but is probably only my fifth since he’s been down there—I toss my arms over my face. Uri moves up my body and takes my lips in a drugging kiss.

I cup his face and hold him to me as I wrap my legs around his slim waist. He’s trying to move onto his back, but I need to feel him on top of me. I always appreciate him thinking of how I feel during sex and my past trauma. However, tonight I need the comfort of my husband’s body on top of mine.

“I need you,” I whimper into his mouth.

“I have you, love.”

He grabs my thigh and smooths his hand over my skin. Then widens his legs and moves his thigh up under me as he lines up with my entrance. Pinning my legs back, he then sinks into me.

My eyes roll back as I feel him deep inside me. The pleasure and pain of having him so deep causes my toes to curl. He begins to move slowly at first, but gradually increases his pace.

I am so wet and he’s impossibly hard. I throw my head back and release a silent scream of ecstasy. This dick just gets better and better with time.

“Fuck, bloody hell, you feel so good,” he breathes into my mouth before pulling my tongue into his to suck on it.

He’s getting so deep I think I might go crazy. I need more. I want … fuck, this isn’t what I need.

Cupping my hands over his shoulders, I flip him onto his back. He smiles up at me and palms my ass. I sit up and throw my head back as I ride him like a prized horse. His dick is hard and long enough to feel like one.

“Fuck, Uri. You’re filling me so good. Yes, yes, yes. Oh God, yes.”

He sits up and grasps my breast before covering my nipple with his mouth. I lose my mind and ride him with more vigor. I’m breathless and weak by the time we’re both spent and at our peak for the final time tonight.

Yup, this is my forever love. Uri Donati, the man who makes them hush.

Uri

I lie awake, staring up at the ceiling. Sleep doesn’t seem to want to find me. I sigh in frustration.

No one hates loose ends more than me. However, I think LaSalle is right. This is Misha’s move.

The Alliance can only suggest what he should do. If any of us does this for him without his permission, that’s an act of war. I don’t believe that’s necessary.

The situation is unique, but it will be handled. Sitting up, I lean in and kiss Val’s shoulder. With a groan, I turn and go to head into the shower.

However, my phone lights up on the nightstand. I grab it and head into the bathroom with it in my palm. A heavy breath leaves my lips as I see it’s Misha.

I have plenty I need to do without sticking my nose in his situation. No matter how much I agree with Tina, we need to stay out of this. So why is he calling me in the middle of the night?

“Hello,” I breathe into the phone.

“Da, you answer, good.”

“How can I help you, Misha?”

“I want to tell you truth. You need to understand what I am up to. Then you help.”

“You sure this isn’t something you want to share with Logan? He’s the one who wants to address this.”

“Net, when you know truth, you know why bad idea.”

I pinch the bridge of my nose. Didn’t I just say this was none of my business and I don’t want to be in the middle of this? Bloody hell, this is not what I signed up for.

I sigh. “Fine. I’m listening.”
