Chapter Three #2
“Enough.” Desperation propelled the word from his throat. Nicholas pulled away only to wrench her upward to her feet. “Your teasing has brought me too close to the edge.”
“So quickly tonight. Whatever will you do now, I wonder?” It was all too fun to torment him. “Show me that you still want me,” she demanded, her whispered voice low with desire.
With an intensity that stole her ability to speak, her husband pinned her between his hard chest and the wall of the folly at her back.
The kisses he treated her to were deep and drugging; he dueled with her tongue as they both fought to remember the passion that had initially brought them together.
When he encouraged one of her legs up, shoving fabric out of his way as he went, she hooked it over his hip and wrapped her arms about his strong, broad shoulders.
In this moment, in his arms, she had everything she’d ever wanted: security, contentment, desire, and his continuing love.
His eyes were dark with need, nearly as black as the devil’s, and his hands were at her buttocks, holding her against the cool stone wall as he set out to apparently devour her whole.
Mia forgot everything as she wriggled into a better position, clung to him while she kissed him back.
She shuddered as he fit his tip to her opening.
Her moan of satisfaction sounded overly loud to her ears, but he swallowed the remainder of the noise and at the same time, he flexed his hips, penetrated her swift and deep, without stopping until he’d sheathed himself stones deep.
“I’ve missed this so much.” Awe threaded through her utterance, for she should have made time for him after Gideon was born.
As always, Nicholas was so large, so thick, and he filled her so completely she wanted to cry from the perfection of that joining, but instead, she dug her nails into his shoulders as her eyes closed.
The most delicious sensations bounced through her insides, and she shivered with anticipation.
Then he thrust with short strokes, forcefully spearing into her, which set her blood on fire and each nerve ending tingling.
Mia matched his rhythm as best she could in the awkward position. Her husband continued to move, so she clung to him and pulled him closer with her leg around his waist.
He drove like a man possessed while she held him to her, kissed whatever portion of his body she encountered.
The scrape of her nipples against his evening attire added another layer of need to the coupling, as did the friction put on the button at the center of her pleasure, for her body was opened to him.
His ragged breathing echoed in her ears while his fingers dug into her hips with a savageness that would no doubt leave bruises.
Sweat dampened his forehead, his upper lip, and as she kissed him, the taste of salt came away on her tongue.
She couldn’t have enough of him, and in that moment, she gave herself over to her devilish husband and was glad for it.
When he delved a hand between their bodies through layers of skirting and he strummed his fingers over that swollen bud, she sucked in a breath.
Before the scream could leave her throat, he kissed her again, took the sound into himself.
Essentially, they shared breath as their bodies worked to become one.
All too soon, the pressure building and circling in her lower belly broke.
“Nicholas!” Contractions fluttered through her core as pleasure swamped her in ever-increasing waves.
Mia whispered his name as if in prayer, buried her face in the crook of his shoulder, and still the bands of release kept coming.
There was no relenting, no cessation, and she feared her body would break apart, but that was how it always was with him.
And she adored it.
Another two thrusts sent him into the vortex with her.
He claimed her mouth in a hard kiss that separated her from reality.
As he ground his pelvis into hers, he lifted her up, and she locked her legs around his waist as the warmth, the aftermath of his own release filled her core.
Completely spent, she collapsed against him, and he did the same to her until they were draped against the wall of the folly, panting in the shadows with the nighttime sounds of the gardens echoing around them.
Somewhere in the distance, the tinkle of water in a fountain met her ears.
Eventually, her heartbeat returned to normal, and her breathing evened. When Mia came back to her senses, she smiled against his lips. “I’ve missed you in this way.”
His grin was quite devilish in the moonlight. “Does that mean I was right in bringing us here?”
“Yes.” She chuckled as he gently let her down until her feet were on the ground once more.
“You were. I intend to enjoy the remainder of the house party now that I’m quite relaxed.
” A grin tugged at her lips as she smoothed her skirting back into place.
“I don’t wish to return to the lodge just yet.
” She tugged up her bodice next and hoped to goodness no one would notice if she appeared slightly disheveled.
By her next thought, she didn’t care, for Nicholas was her husband, and they had done nothing wrong.
Much.
“Then we shall walk near the moors and immerse ourselves in the autumn night.” After he’d set his own clothing to rights, he took her hand. “I’m glad for this interlude, for I have missed you as well.”
