ADELAIDE

Watching Vance get hit again and again was not making me feel good about this.

Tyson kept his eyes trained on Vance’s every move.

I didn’t understand the lingo but given how happy Tyson looked, Vance must be doing well.

The rounds went by quickly, and before I knew it we were on the fifth round.

Since they were only three minutes they felt quick.

Tj squeezed my arm, “Uncle Van is really good.” He was so excited.

Becky was less than thrilled and she kept reaching for the snacks that we bought and I conveniently shared most of them with Tj and Sophia.

I did not like this woman, she was a gold digger and Tyson was placating her with money.

Just like she wanted. She wasn’t getting the snacks meant for Tj (and me).

Vance’s opponent hit him hard on the jaw again and my hands flew up to my face.

I don’t know if I can keep watching this.

I wanted to be here for him, but this was incredibly difficult.

“It’s okay Addy.” Tj squeezed my arm again and I looked at him.

This kid was great. He was just like his dad, he was so sweet and endearing.

“Thanks bud.” I put my hand over his and he smiled up at me reassuringly.

“Uncle Van is so cool.” Tj said quietly, I don’t think he intended for me to hear him.

“Round six!” The bell dinged and off they went.

Vance looked different now. Tighter. More determined.

Like he was playing before but now he was more focused.

The guy he was fighting started again with the same right hook like he did the other rounds, which even in my limited knowledge, was a dumb mistake.

I felt like the air shifted and everyone's eyes were glued to the middle of the ring. From Vance moving around you could see that The Boulder was getting tired. Tyson was screaming at Vance, The Boulder’s coach was also screaming.

Vance threw a quick punch with his right hand straight out, then followed that with a punch with his left hand and The Boulder stumbled back.

Vance came back with a right hook, that move I recognized, then his left hand came up and punched him right in the stomach.

The Boulder fell…well, like a rock. His body thudded to the ground and the entire crowd was on their feet shouting and cheering, including our row.

Tyson climbed through the ropes and pulled Vance into his arms into a huge hug with the biggest grins on both of their faces.

This fight was won and it was amazing to see people rally around them.
