Chapter 3 #3

She nods her head as she dries one of the glasses. “Okay.” She raises a brow. “Anything else?” she asks with a small smile. “Did he say what he’d like us to do with you?”

My cheeks heat. “He said you’d know what to do with me.”

She snorts a soft laugh. “New to town, huh?”

“Yup. My car broke down on the side of the road a few miles back. Syrus found me and gave me a lift.”

“Okay then. First, let’s start off with your name. I’m Silva. I own not only this bar, but this town, alongside my twin sister and a few other women."

I let out a low whistle. “That’s impressive.”

“You have no idea,” she says.

“I’m Emmett. A lonely Omega who heard whispers of some town that is supposed to be a safe haven and my new start.” I smile.

She smiles back. “That's our goal. I’m going to guess you don’t know anyone in town?” I shake my head. “So, you’re going to need a place to stay.” She says it like a statement, not a question. “We can get you set up at the inn down the street for now.”

“Really?” My brows rise.

“How are you with money?”

“Ah, depends. Great at saving it, but I don’t tend to get a lot of it,” I chuckle.

“I meant more along the lines of do you have any?” she questions in amusement.

“Oh.” I dig into my pocket for my wallet. “Of course. How much do I owe you for helping out?”

She shakes her head, laughing louder. “I don’t want your money,” she says. “I want to know if you need any.”

My lips part as I stare at her hand, extended with cash. “Wait. You want to give me money?”

Music starts up, a little louder than the background music from before.

My attention is drawn to my left. When my eyes land on the pretty, short blonde, my lips part in awe.

I let my eyes trail down her body as my heart begins to race. Her hair is long and wavy, and she’s dressed in a pink skintight body suit that shows off all her curves.

She gathers her hair up into a messy bun as silks start to descend from the ceiling.

I’m captivated by her as she grabs the silks and wraps them around her hands and then her feet. I’m in utter awe, watching her do flips and poses. Nothing too out there, but enough to have me impressed.

“She’s good,” Silva comments, breaking me out of my hypnotic state.

“Good?” I breathe. “She’s fucking phenomenal.”

“Lift your jaw up, kid.” Silva laughs. “You don’t stand a chance.”

The girl on stage leaves, and I turn my frown to Silva. “Why not?”

She snorts. “First of all, you’re what, fifteen?”

“Nineteen,” I deadpan.

“She’s twenty-six, and way out of your league.”

“Well, yeah, but you don’t have to rub it in,” I grumble.

“I think I’m going to have to take a break from the silks,” the blonde girl from the stage slips behind the bar next to Silva.

My eyes are glued to her again, unable to look away. I think I’m in love. She’s so pretty. So fucking beautiful. And by the smell of her peaches and cream scent, an Omega too. Even better.

“My hands hurt,” she sighs. “Can’t keep my hold on them for very long. Been overdoing it.”

“Then take a break, do the hoop, or the trapeze.”

“Yeah, I guess. I might just take a break from performing for a while altogether.”

“Why? You’re so good.” At least what she did up there was.

Her blue eyes turn my way, and I swear to god my heart stops. “Hi.” She smiles, and yup, I’m dead. “Didn’t see you there.” She looks me up and down before biting her lip.

My cock twitches, and I have to stay still so I don’t make a sound. I swear, since becoming an Omega, this thing has a mind of its own. And bad timing too.

“This is Emmett. He’s nineteen.” I can see the light dim in her eyes, but her smile stays. I stare at Silva and frown. She gives me a knowing grin. What a cock block.

“Hi, Emmett. I’m Lexi. I’m going to take a wild guess and say you're new here?”

“Ahhh...” Okay, words, Emmett. You know how to fucking speak. Use your fucking words! “Yes.” It’s a word.

“Well, welcome to Widows Peak.”

“I was just telling him we can get him set up at the inn. He doesn’t know anyone or have a place to stay.”

“Oh yeah, for sure. Anything you need. How about a job?”

“A job...” I blink.

What is wrong with me? I’m acting as if I’ve never been around a woman before. I have. Lots of women. Well, kind of. Okay, not really. Mostly men. Gross, ugly men.

She’s not gross or ugly.

I want her. But I don’t think Silva will let me have a chance with her.

“I’m sure we can find you something. What was your last job?”

I lick my lips. “Dancer. At a club.” There’s no judgment in her eyes. Thank fuck.

“If that's your thing, we do have nighttime performers. We can slip you in.”

“No.” I shake my head. “No.” The idea of getting up on stage again for anyone, for any reason, makes me want to puke.

“Okay. No dancing.” She nods. “We can find you something else.” Her smile is so sweet and caring that it makes my heart want to explode.

“We are looking for supervisors during the daytime hours here at the club.” She looks me over and bites her lip. Yes. Keep looking at me like that. Prove Silva wrong. Please.

“You’re tall, fit by the look of it. We have some construction jobs.”

“Where do you work?” Okay, stalker, chill the fuck out. Here I thought I might be walking into a crazy town, when really, I’m the crazy one.

“Here,” she laughs, amused with me. Hey, I’ll take it. “I serve, help my sister run the bar, and sometimes perform. I do other things around town too, but I mostly work here.”

“I want to work here.”

Silva snorts a laugh and shakes her head. “Teenage boys,” she mutters under her breath.

I shoot her another glare.

Lexi doesn’t seem to hear her. “Okay,” she laughs. “Well, we are in need of someone to work security. With the town growing and the club getting busy on the weekends, we need more bouncers.”

“I’ll take it.” I slap the bar top, grinning like an idiot. Not just because I’ll get to be around this pretty Omega, but because the idea of protecting Omegas is perfect.

The only person at my old job who ever showed an ounce of concern about our well-being and safety was one of the bouncers, Bruno. He never let anyone hurt us if he was around.

I want to be that for Lexi, or anyone else who comes into this club.

“Alright then.” She smiles, laughing softly. “You got the job. Now let’s get you to the inn.” She rounds the corner and looks me over. “Ah, do you need some new clothes?”

“Huh?” I look down and pause at the mustard stain. Fucking hell. Of course, I’d forget to change and look like a bum next to this goddess of an Omega.

She’s twenty-six, but she sure as fuck doesn’t look like it.

I could be a good man for her.

“No.” I laugh awkwardly. “I’m good. All my stuff is in my car. They’re having it towed.”

“Got it.” She nods. “We can take my car.”

She heads toward the exit.

“Might wanna slow your boat there, Romeo,” Silva says. “Not a chance in hell.”

“Not with an attitude like that,” I mutter. “One day, Silva. One day, I won’t be the silly young teenage boy.”

“You don’t even know her.” She narrows her eyes. “Don’t fuck with my sister, Emmett. You won’t like what happens if you do.”

“I might not know her, but I can tell a good soul when I see one. Even if she doesn’t give me the time of day in that kind of way, I’d still be the best damn friend she could ask for.”

“You're crazy.” She rolls her eyes.

“Nah. I’m determined,” I reply, then follow the goddess of an Omega outside.

I’d have to say, this is one hell of a good start to my new life. I’m stoked to see what else will come.
