Chapter 17

Lexi

“Emmett,” I whisper-hiss, pushing at his shoulder.

He lets out a groan, opening his eyes and squinting at me. “What's wrong?” His voice is groggy with sleep.

“There are two Alphas downstairs, and I don’t know what to do,” I hiss.

He blinks a few times, then sits up, rubbing at his eyes. “They’re still here?”

“I guess so. Unless someone else broke into our house.”

He gives me an adorable, cheeky grin. “Our house, huh?”

I can’t help but smile. “I mean, come on. You are hardly ever home as it is. It’s pretty much just a storage locker at this point. We are having a baby together, you may as well move in officially.”

“Yeah?” He gives me a big, bright grin. “You wanna live with me?”

“Stop it.” I push at his shoulder, laughing. “You’re making it a big deal.”

“You looooove me,” he teases, moving to hover his body over mine. “You waaaaant me.”

“Always,” I whisper.

He chuckles, kissing me. “You’re obsessed with me.” He grins.

“Can’t help it.”

“Wanna know something?” He brushes his nose against mine.

“What?”

“I love you too.” He kisses me. “I want you more than anything in this world.” He kisses me again. “I’m unhealthily obsessed with you.”

He kisses me deeper this time, making me whimper as tears fill my eyes.

“I’ve missed you so much.” My words sound choked. “Never leave me again.”

“Never.” He kisses me and moves his way down my body. “My home is here.” He looks up at me as he pushes my shirt up. “With you.” He leans down and kisses my belly. “And our baby.”

I can’t help it, I burst into tears.

“Hey.” He crawls back up to my face. “Don’t cry, baby.”

“I’m sorry. I can’t help it. I’m so stupid. I spent almost two weeks worried sick about how you were going to react. I should have just trusted that you would be over the moon happy.”

“Why would you worry? Why wouldn’t you think I’d be happy? Peaches, you're my everything. Learning that we’re starting a family together is the best news ever.”

“Because we haven’t talked about kids. You have already given so much up for me, I don’t want you to feel like I’m trapping you.”

“If you tell me I’m too young and I should be free to spread my wings and fly, or some bullshit like that, I will spank you, Lexi,” he growls.

“Trust me when I say that this is the life I want. It’s the life I dreamed of.

If you never wanted kids, I’d have accepted that, and it wouldn’t change how I feel about you.

How do you feel about being pregnant, having a baby? ”

“At first, I was freaking out. I never wanted kids, not because I don't like them, because you know I do, but it’s because this world is scary and we can't have a little one all to ourselves for the rest of their lives. What if one day they decide to leave Widows Peak? So many bad things can happen out there, and we’re living proof of that.”

He kisses the tip of my nose. “We’ll love this baby and raise it right.

Let them know about the dangers of the world, but not instill fear in them.

They will have every right to do what they want, and as their parents, we will love them and protect them the best we can.

And maybe install a tracker, just in case. ”

That makes me laugh. “I can get on board with that.”

“You said at first that you were freaked out, but how do you feel now?”

“Happy.” I smile. “Excited. Knowing there’s a little one inside me, that’s part you and part me, is the best feeling.”

“Good. Because I’m fucking thrilled.” He grins widely. “So, this is what we’re going to do. You’re going to stop worrying, and we’re going to be excited for this baby together. Starting with booking an appointment with the doctor. Have you gone to see her yet?”

I nod. “I went when you were gone. I thought maybe I was going into heat early, or it was long-term side effects of the suppressants. I didn’t want to worry you if it was nothing.

They did blood work just in case, and it came back saying I was pregnant.

And well, you know me, freak out city. Are you mad I didn’t tell you right away? ”

He shakes his head. “No, baby. You had the right to take the time to deal with it.”

“Thank you.” I chew on my lower lip. “But what about the two downstairs?”

He blinks a few times. “Lexi, was I just dreaming, or are we both—me and you—scent matched to two insanely attractive Alphas?”

“Not a dream,” I sigh heavily. “What do we do?”

“I know our first instinct is to kick them out and send them packing. But can you tell me for certain that’s what you want?”

“No,” I groan. “And I’m blaming it on the scent match bullshit.”

“Same,” he chuckles.

“I feel guilty.” I chew on my lower lip.

“Why? Because you feel like you want to go rub against them like a cat in heat?” He cocks a brow. “It’s okay, baby, I do too.”

“Oh my god.” I laugh, covering my hands with my face. “How is this even our lives?”

“We’ve been tucked away from the real world for a while.

Rightly so, because the real world is crazy.

But we’re Omegas, and most Omegas often crave Alphas.

We don’t. We could have spent our whole lives without them, but the universe had other plans for us.

Now, we can give them a chance to prove that they’re not like the people who did us dirty in our past, or we could refuse them and deal with the fallout together.

It won’t be easy, though. Scent bonds are serious things that we can’t cut ties from. ”

“Why do I want to trust them?”

“It’s biology, babe,” he sighs. “They didn’t hurt you, did they?”

“No.” I shake my head. “If anything, I hurt them.”

“Oh, really?” He raises a brow. “Do tell.”

“I thought I did last night.” My brows furrow.

He thinks for a moment and snorts. “Right. Sorry, I was distracted by the scent match part. So, you really threw hot chocolate in Aiden’s face and kneed Sloane in the balls?”

“Yes.” I wince.

“My badass baby.” He kisses my forehead. “He deserved worse. They both did! Who follows an Omega that’s on their own? Stupid men.”

“Emmett,” I whisper.

“Yes, baby?”

“Are we really doing this? Giving them a chance?”

“If you want to, yes. If you don’t, I’ll ask them to leave right now.”

Knowing that they’re also Emmett’s Alphas helps take a lot of the worry away.

“Wait.” My brows furrow. “How do you feel about being with two men?”

He grins. “You know I’m Bi. I just stopped seeing anyone else in any other way than friendly the moment I met you.”

“You know how to make a girl's heart explode, you know that, right?” I grumble.

“Only your heart, baby,” he murmurs. “It’s the only one that matters.”

“I can’t help it.” I close my eyes. “Stop being so cute.”

“Never,” he chuckles. “Now, get that sexy ass up and let’s go get my babies fed.” He rolls me over and slaps my ass. I giggle, burying my face into the pillow, feeling a burst of joy for the unknown for the first time in a long while.

Emmett changes while I brush my teeth, then I pull on a pair of Emmett’s boxers and one of his baggy T-shirts.

“Mhmm. I love that you’re wearing my clothes. Trying to tell those Alphas something, baby?” He pulls me into his arms.

“Just showing them who I belong to.” I grin.

“You don’t belong to anyone, Lexi. We belong to you.” He winks.

I’m nervous as we head down to the kitchen. The last few days have been a blur of drama. This will be the first time around them that I have a clearer head and less of a messy one.

I don’t know these men, and I pray they are the good guys. I have no trouble putting down a bad Alpha, scent match or not.

Fuck. I should really call Silva and let her know what's going on. But first, I need to know more myself.

“What are you doing?” I ask when I find both Aiden and Sloane in the kitchen.

“Cooking.” Sloane spins around. “Not sure what you like to eat, so we went out and got a bit of everything. Hope you’re hungry. You are eating for two.” He winks.

“You’re... cooking for us?” I ask carefully.

“Yes.” Aiden’s brows furrow. “Why wouldn’t we? We’re Alphas, we want to take care of our Omegas.”

“I thought it was the Omegas’ job to take care of their Alphas?”

Sloane snorts. “Kitten, we’ve been taking care of ourselves for years. We don’t need a maid or a mother. We want a partner. An equal.”

“But we also go hard for the ones we care about. Not sure how you feel about being a spoiled princess, so let us know if we overstep,” Aiden says. “Because someone just might.” He gives Sloane a stern look.

“Don’t give me that look.” Sloane smirks. “I’m already obsessed over our little Omega.” He gives Emmett an appreciative once-over. “And I know it won’t take long before blondie is tied with her.”

“We’ll see,” Emmett responds, taking a seat at the kitchen table.

They bring everything over so Emmett and I can make our plates.

“Is there anything else you need?” Aiden asks. “Something to drink?”

“It’s okay, I can get it.” I start to stand, but Aiden looks like a kicked puppy. “Uh, a glass of apple juice?” I slowly sit back down.

He gives me a firm nod and goes to get me one.

“This is weird,” I whisper to Emmett.

“I know,” he whispers back, taking a bite of his food. “But fuck me, Peaches, they can cook.”

“You know,” Sloane whispers, “we can hear you.”

I smother a snort, and he gives me a grin.

Averting my eyes, I start to eat and have to hold back a moan. Yeah, this is good.

Aiden brings me a glass of juice, and I thank him.

Everything is quiet while we eat, but I keep looking up to find Sloane staring at me.

“What?” I grumble. “Stop staring at me.”

He grins wider. “Not sure if that's possible.”

“It’s creepy.” I glare at him.

He just shrugs.

“So, we’ve got a couple of stalkers for Alphas?” I ask Emmett.

“As long as they’re not going to kill us when they’re done, it might not be all that bad,” Emmett says.

“You two fascinate me.” Sloane cocks his head. “Two Omegas in a relationship. You don’t see that much. How long have you two been together?”

“It’s new,” I answer. “A few months now.”
