Chapter 24
Sloane
“Would you stop staring at me?” Aiden grumbles, cracking an eye open.
“Well, wake up, and I wouldn’t have to.” I grin.
“Why do I have to wake up?” he groans.
“Because we’re here, when we could be with our Omegas. Why sleep when it’s taking time away from them?”
He sighs, rolling over to bury his face into his pillow. “I thought I was the stalker? You’re acting crazier than I was.”
“It’s not stalking when they already agreed to be ours. Think of it as being very passionate. And I texted Lexi already, they’re expecting us soon.”
“Fine,” he sighs. “Do I have enough time to shower?”
“Sure, but I am leaving now. Just wanted to let you know.” I lean down, kiss his cheek, then pull the blanket off him, getting a nice view of his bare ass. I bring my hand down hard, slapping it, making him curse. “Peace out, fucker.”
“What the hell!” He sits up. “You’re just going to leave me?”
“You snooze, you lose. If I have to sit around here and wait for you, I’ll go out of my mind. Don’t worry, we’ll swing by and pick you up before we leave.”
“Leave for where?” he shouts after me, but I’m already out of the room, heading for the car.
I’m in a very good mood, with a grin on my face and excitement buzzing through my veins. There’s a pep in my step as I walk up to Lexi’s front door.
Knocking, I wait until Emmett opens it. When he sees me, he smiles. “Morning–” I cut him off, pushing him inside and up against the wall. He moans as I kiss him deeply, shutting the door behind me with my foot.
“Morning.” I pull back, grinning down at him as he stares up at me with wide eyes, flushed cheeks, and parted lips.
“Well, that was a greeting,” Lexi teases.
I look over to see her watching, a grin on her face.
I grin wider as I stalk towards her. “Hey there, Kitten.” I pull her into my arms and kiss her just as deeply.
“Hi,” she breathes when I pull back. Emmett comes to stand next to us, and I pull him into my arms, too.
He chuckles but lets me. “This,” I sigh. “This is what life was meant for.”
“You’re such a sap,” Lexi laughs.
“For you two? Always. So, how's my baby?” I get to my knees and kiss her belly. “You better be growing big and strong. And be nice to your mama.” I look up at Lexi, who’s watching me with misty eyes. I hope that's a good thing. “How’s your morning sickness?”
“Better,” she answers as I get to my feet. “I think it’s over now.”
“Good.” I nod. “So, you two ready?” I look them over. They’re both dressed. Emmett in a navy blue T-shirt and jeans, Lexi in a pair of leggings and a white knitted sweater. Her hair is up in a cute bun. “Fuck me, you two look edible,” I growl.
“Thank you,” Lexi laughs. “We’re ready, but what are we ready for?”
I grin. “I’m thinking we take a drive into that city not too far from here. Since it’s starting to snow, I thought we could spend a day having fun. Do some shopping before it gets too bad. I wanna spoil my Omegas before we’re trapped in this tiny town for the winter season.”
Lexi chews on her lip, looking over at Emmett nervously.
“What?” My smile drops. “What’s wrong?”
“I’m not a big fan of leaving Widows Peak,” Lexi admits.
My brows furrow. “Why not?”
“Because I know it’s safe here. Out there, they don’t live by our rules. I’m not a fan of the real world. It can be a scary place.”
“You have nothing to worry about.” I pull her into my arms. “You will have two scary, special force agents with you. We can bring our guns, keep you by our side. Nothing will happen to you, Lexi. But, if you don’t want to go, we can find something to do here.”
“No, I do. I think a day out with all of us is good. And by the time Emmett is done with his heat, we’re going to be snowed in. If we want to do anything, now is the time.”
I look over at the Omega in question. Aiden told me about Emmett’s request when it came to his heat. I’m fucking thrilled he wants to spend it with us.
I may have gotten the keys to the cabin from Lexi before we left the other night and stashed some supplies up there.
I also happened to take a peek at his nest and saw a hoodie that looks a lot like something Lexi would wear, not him. Seems like my Omega likes to steal her things.
So, I took off the hoodie I was wearing and added it to his nest. He might kill me for it, but the idea of his nest smelling like me, too, when he gets up there, was too tempting.
“We can leave at any time. We don’t have to do anything you don’t feel comfortable with.”
“Okay,” she agrees. “Yeah, I think it could be fun. I love Widows Peak, but it doesn’t have a whole lot to do.”
“How about the movies? Maybe an arcade? Oh!” I grin. “Laser tag?”
Lexi’s eyes sparkle with interest, and I know I’ve convinced her. “I’ve never done any of that.”
“What? Really?” I look at Emmett.
He raises his hands. “Hey, I’ve asked her before, but she wasn’t comfortable back then. Now we have you two. I’m glad she feels safer.”
“It’s not that.” Lexi looks at Emmett with a guilty look.
“I’m not mad.” He smiles reassuringly, cupping her cheek.
“I’m only one man. I can hold my own, but I know the idea of two Omegas out in the wild was something you worried about.
” He turns to look at me. “She doesn’t like it when I leave town either.
But she’s gotten a lot better, and I’m so damn proud of you.
” He smiles down at Lexi, who looks embarrassed.
“Must sound stupid and silly,” she mutters.
“Not at all.” I lean down and kiss her. “Your feelings are valid.”
“Ugh,” she sighs. “Stop being so perfect. First, Emmett, now you too. Are you sure you’re not a robot?"
“Pretty sure. Robots can’t cum. And we both know I can.” I wink.
“Oh my god.” She giggles, and god the sound is amazing.
It’s not until we’re getting into the truck that Lexi asks where Aiden is.
“We have to go pick him up.”
“Why didn’t he come with you?” she asks as I pull out of her driveway.
“Because he was taking too long and I needed my Omega fix.” I grin in the rearview mirror.
“Smooth,” Emmett chuckles.
“I thought so.” I grin over to him. He laughs and shakes his head.
When we get to the inn, a very angry Aiden is waiting outside. My brows furrow when I see our suitcases in his hands.
“Why do you have those?" I ask when he opens the door and puts the bags in the back next to Lexi before rounding the truck to the other side.
“Because we no longer have a place to stay.” He glares at me once he is in the truck.
“What? Why?” Lexi asks.
“We were kicked out. I guess they’ve been getting noise complaints.”
My eyes widen, and I can’t hold in the smug grin that takes over my face. “Oh, yeah. What kind?”
“You know damn well what kind. I should be gagging you. This is all your fault.”
“I’m not sorry I’m vocal in bed. I like what I like. Why hold back?”
“Because it got us kicked out! There are no other inns around. We’re going to have to get a room in the next town over.”
“What? No!” Lexi rushes out. “That's too far.”
“Yeah, that's way too far. I need access to my Omegas. Do you want me to go out of my mind?” I growl.
“Well, then we sleep in the car,” Aiden sighs.
“Why don’t you just stay with us?” Lexi looks to Emmett. Emmett nods.
“I’m cool with it.” He shrugs.
“Fuck, yeah.” My face hurts from the wide smile stretching my lips. “Packing up, baby.”
“We can’t.” Aiden looks at Lexi. “That’s too much.”
“Why?”
“I don’t want to overwhelm you. Things have been going amazingly, but also extremely fast. Are you sure it wouldn’t be too much too soon?”
“Honestly, the idea of you two being so far away has me freaking out more than the idea of you moving in.”
“Are you sure?”
“Yeah.” She smiles softly, taking Aiden’s hand. “I’m sure.”
As we pull away from the inn and leave Widows Peak, I’m on cloud fucking nine.
I thought I knew what it was like to live life, what happiness felt like. Yes, Aiden was enough for me. But now that I have these two? I can't imagine my life without them. All three of them are mine, and I’ll do whatever it takes to keep them.
In Aiden’s and my line of work, getting free downtime like this is nearly impossible. I can’t remember the last time we just got to go out and have fun.
Coming to Widows Peak was exactly what we needed. It’s been an adjustment from the city life we’re used to, but the longer I stay here, the more it’s growing on me.
“I’ve never asked you guys, but how long do you plan on staying in Widows Peak?” Lexi asks as we leave the movie theater.
So far we’ve gone to lunch and seen an early movie. Now our plan is to go play laser tag, do a bit of shopping, and then head back home before it gets dark.
Aiden looks at me, and I shrug. “Forever?”
“What?” She gives a shocked laugh. “But you can’t.”
“Why not?” I frown.
“What about your life? Your job?”
“Our job was our life. We had each other and the guys on our team, but that's about it. We wouldn’t really be leaving anything behind. We can easily have our things shipped to us. As for our job, that is something we’ll have to talk to our team about.
I’m sure they’re looking into options, too, considering their Omega also lives in Widows Peak. ”
We haven’t heard much from Harlan and the others since we arrived in town. We might be on the same team, but each pack does its own thing. Sure, we hang out sometimes during our downtime, but for the most part, we only see each other on jobs.
It’s not unusual for us to go radio silent sometimes.
I’m sure they’re diving headfirst into snatching up their Omega like we are. When you spend well over ten years invested in a person, it only makes sense.
“You’d be okay with that?” she asks, stopping on the sidewalk outside the theater. “Dropping everything to move here?”
“Why not?” Aiden asks. “If our family is here, it makes sense for us to be here too. We would never dream of asking you to leave Widows Peak. It’s your home.”
“What about your home?”
“You, Emmett, and that little one growing inside you are our home. Wherever you are, that’s where we want to be.”
