Grayson

“You’re patient,” she started. “You know what you want, but it’s okay if it takes longer to get there.”

“You’re not sure what to do with me.”

She continued to walk around the outside of the ring.

“You didn’t mean for us to fall asleep, but you’re not upset we did.” She looked near her feet before saying, “You enjoyed taking care of me.”

He frowned.

“You seem to be a very caring Dom. Is that normal for a Dom?”

Uncomfortable, Grayson hunched his shoulders and tucked his hands in his pockets.

“I hardly think getting a pizza tells you-”

She cut him off and said wryly, “Look, it’s really easy to pick up on someone taking care of you when you’ve never really had it before.”

Grayson fell quiet. What did she mean, she’d never been taken care of before? Didn’t she have parents? Boyfriends? What the fuck?

“Now you’re upset that no one’s ever taken care of me.”

She smiled a little, and he couldn’t help but acknowledge that the dimple on the left side of her mouth was adorable.

“Reading you is kind of fun. Are you making it easy for me?”

He hadn’t thought so, and he wasn’t sure what to make of her assessment. He schooled his features into his hard Dom mask.

“Now what do I feel?”

Again she looked at him from head to toe and, frowning, she walked up to him. Hesitated.

“How...”

“Go ahead,” he breathed.

“You’re still waiting.”

He inclined his head slightly.

“For what?”

“I don’t know. Why don’t you just tell me?”

Frustration leaked into her words, although he stood still, unfazed.

“If you don’t get it, I will. But I want you to try. I want something. What am I waiting for?”

She stared deeper into his eyes.

“For me.”

He waited. Would she do it?

She frowned and inched backwards. Dammit, he’d thought for a second…

“How do I know it’s something that you want instead of what I want?”

He mulled it over and spoke slowly.

“That’s an excellent question, Alessandra. I would say… that if you’re very lucky, and an exceptional match, then what your Dom wants, and what you want… will often be the same thing.”

He waited and stared into her eyes. No way she would do it.
