Chapter Grayson
GRAYSON
Alessandra’s hands were freezing. He had to get her inside. But he wasn’t ready to break the moment yet. Her openness and his own had arrowed straight through him, and he wasn’t ready to let go. She needed to be with him, he thought again. Thank God he wasn’t in this alone.
He rested his chin on top of her head and smiled as she cuddled closer. A few minutes later, even with their combined body heat under the blankets, Grayson felt her shiver again. Time was up. He wasn’t about to sit here and watch her get sick.
“Let’s get you inside, baby,” he whispered, and heard a muffled ‘no’.
He grinned. She didn’t want to leave either.
“I’m not going to let you get sick, Alessandra,” he said, and brushed a hand down her hair to take the sharpness out of his words.
Using her hair as a pulley, he lifted her face from his chest.
“Up.”
Lexi grumbled, but she leaned back enough to unwrap her legs from around him, and stood, taking the blankets with her. Without them, Grayson felt how cold it was. Shit. They would both be lucky to not get sick. Her gasp had him snapping his head up, afraid she tripped over the blanket.
But she stood still next to him, still holding his hand, and stared up at the sky. Snow fell between them, sharp and inevitable, and Grayson tightened his hold. They both looked up into gently falling snowflakes.
