Epilogue

The backyard was filled with people.

She peered out the window. There were so many people that it was almost overwhelming.

Remember, you know everyone here.

Everyone in that backyard was here for her and for Harvey.

There was a snuffle behind her, and she turned to see Crackling. He looked very handsome in his suit. It had taken her ages to find an outfit that would fit him. It was surprising how much he’d grown in the last three months. “Are you ready for this, Crackling?”

“He sure looks like he is,” Clem said, walking into the room. She was wearing a pale pink dress. Her hair was pulled back in soft waves.

“You look gorgeous,” Lily told her.

“Pretty sure that’s meant to be my line, Shiny,” Clem replied, using the nickname their grandma used to use for Lily. She put her hands on her hips as she studied Lily. “You look fucking fantastic.”

Lily had to giggle.

It still shocked her how easy it was for her to laugh now. She had so much to laugh and smile about.

It helped that everyone who had hurt her was dead or locked away. Even Rick was in jail. He’d been caught with illicit drugs on him in Romania.

There was a knock on the door, and Jaret peered in. His gaze immediately went to Clem, and his face grew warm with a smile. “Clem, you look gorgeous.”

“Why, thank you.” Clem tried to do a curtsy and nearly tripped over her shoes. “Drat. I hate these heels.”

“Then don’t wear them,” Lily told her as Jaret walked into the room.

“I have to wear them. They’re the only formal shoes I’ve got with me. My only other pair of shoes are sneakers.”

“Wear them,” Lily told her. “Or go in bare feet.”

“I can’t do that. This is your wedding,” Clem said.

Lily snorted. “I don’t care about wearing formal shoes I just want you to be comfortable. You know what? I want me to be comfortable too. Let’s both wear sneakers.”

So they both ended up in sneakers.

“Right, are you both ready to go?” Jaret asked.

“More than ready,” Lily told him. “Come on, Crackling, time to walk down the aisle.”

Crackling snorted. Which made Clem and Lily giggle. They were still smiling widely when they made their way outside to the backyard wedding.

She couldn’t believe this was her life. That she was walking through the backyard of their new, amazing home to the man she loved more than life while their friends and family watched on.

Her sister was in front of her, her pig next to her, and Jaret on the other side.

Ahead of her stood her man, her love, her life.

Her everything.

Lily was free. And it was time to start living the rest of her life.
