Little Fire

I broke out of prison with one name carved into my skull-my brothers. Revenge is the only thing keeping my heart beating, the only promise I haven’t broken. Then I take her.

She’s at the wrong place, the wrong time, soft where I’m sharp, breathing when I’m barely alive. I tell myself she’s leverage. A shield. A mistake I’ll fix once the blood is paid.

But the moment I put my hands on her, something inside me snaps. And it isn’t regret. She becomes my obsession.

I watch the way fear turns into fire in her eyes, the way she fights me when she shouldn’t. I tell myself I’m not saving her. I’m not protecting her. I’m just claiming what’s already mine.

Because monsters like me don’t get redemption. We take. We ruin. We burn. And I would burn the world for her. I know I’m unhinged. I know I’m dangerous. I know loving me is a death sentence.

But my brother stole everything from me once, and I won’t let him take her too.
