Chapter 17 Well, I’ll Be Damned, Time to Play Their Game and Fucking Win It #2

I slid forward a few inches, struggling to remain still.

Griffin and Hunt said at the same time.

Layla said.

Brady nodded, sliding forward along the couch.

Layla said.

Griffin said.

Layla asked.

Brady said.

Layla shrugged.

My stare glued to my leg, I ran my nails along the knee of my jeans. I drew in a steeling breath, clawed at my jeans some more, then spit it out:

Layla said right away, and I snapped my head up to look at her.

Brady asked.

I glanced at Hunt, then Griffin, whose eyes were already on me.

Hunt ventured.

Layla said.

Hunt said with a pointed look at Bobo.

Layla’s mouth screwed up into her I’m busy thinking expression.

Griffin’s eyes bored into mine.

I asked him.

He blinked, as if lost to some other thoughts.

His fingers squeezed mine. His eyes were steady.

His eyes continued to take in only mine.

Brady said.

I was nodding.

Layla said.

she again commented.

Brady said.

I said.

Layla shivered.

Brady said.

Layla shivered again.

We were racking up a whole lot of nightmare material lately …

I suggested hesitantly.

Brady said immediately.

I tipped my head.

Griffin said.

Layla asked.

Hunt said.

I said.

Layla objected.

Brady grumbled.

I conceded.

Hunt said.

Layla said,

Griffin said.

I glanced down at Bobo.

Hunt asked.

I smiled at Griffin.

Layla started.

Before she could offer more opinions on the matter. I turned toward Bobo and grabbed a paw, directing my thoughts at him in a way my friends would also hear.

His eyes popped open and he turned his head to look at me. An exhale I didn’t realize I was holding burst free of me.

I said with a smile.

Layla said.

Brady said.

Hunt said.

I didn’t know exactly how to go about this. He was still an animal …

As one, my friends and I sat up straighter.

I asked, heart pounding.

I asked, glancing at my friends, all of whom wore similar perplexed expressions as my own.

Bobo panted eagerly.

He spun around to lie on his tummy.

My brow furrowed.

Bobo smiled and panted some more.

Hunt leaned over him.

My heart thudded and I barely breathed as I asked,

Bobo nodded and smiled broadly.

I sank with a thump against the couch.

I beamed at him, rubbing my palm along his head.

Layla asked with a scrunched brow.

Griffin said.

Brady was nodding appreciatively.
