Chapter Ten #3
A sudden jolt of paranoia sent me over to the office door to yank on the handle. Unlocked. Thank fuck for that. For one horrible moment, I’d convinced myself they meant to keep me here as their personal sex toy. But apparently, I’d served my purpose.
I eased the door shut again and turned back toward the room, wanting a shower badly enough to look for it.
There was another door at the rear of the office that I hadn’t noticed before.
This place had a habit of hiding things in plain sight, like Wonderland itself shifted depending on where your attention was.
Or maybe there had simply been too many distractions.
I hesitated before opening it, every nightmare scenario elbowing for space in my head. When I finally mustered the courage and stepped inside, I almost laughed with relief. It was just a washroom. A large one, gleaming black tile offset by soft gold lighting.
Expensive shampoo and shower gel sat neatly arranged beside the sink, and a fluffy white towel hung folded on a heated rail as if I’d checked into some luxury hotel instead of whatever the fuck Wonderland really was.
I searched automatically for a camera and didn’t immediately spot one.
Not that it mattered much at this point.
Being watched in the shower seemed laughably insignificant compared to what had just happened in the office.
Which, unfortunately, brought my thoughts straight back to the camera I’d seen, and the video.
Who was going to watch it?
Best-case scenario, it was just for the twins’ personal collection, something they jerked off to when business was slow. Worst-case scenario… no, I wasn’t going there. Not yet.
I turned the shower on before stripping off the leather gear, the water pleasantly warm by the time I stepped under the spray. I tipped my head back and shut my eyes, letting the water beat down on me while I tried not to think.
Naturally, that meant I thought about everything.
Most of all, I confronted a reality I’d been doing my best to ignore. The guy hadn’t used a condom. How the hell had I let that happen?
Soap slid over my skin while heat crawled up my throat and into my cheeks.
That was what I’d chosen to get embarrassed about.
Not that I’d just had sex with a guy who I couldn’t even pick out of a line-up.
Not that I’d come like a complete slut in record time.
Or that I’d just cheated on my boyfriend.
But that I’d let someone breed me without even a murmur of protest.
I could lie to myself and pretend I hadn’t realized, but deep down I knew better. I’d known. Maybe not consciously at first, but somewhere along the line I’d figured it out and simply… stopped caring. I’d wanted to come more than I’d cared about boundaries, or caution, or common fucking sense.
The realization sat heavy in my chest.
I scrubbed harder than necessary, fingers pressing between my cheeks as though I could erase the memory along with the physical evidence. The slight slickness there only made my face burn hotter. God. I couldn’t even think about how eager I’d been without wanting to crawl out of my skin.
Eventually, I blew out a long breath and forced myself to stop spiraling.
What’s done was done. Standing here mentally flaying myself alive wouldn’t change it. My shower became brisk after that, practical rather than indulgent. Just enough time to wash away every visible trace of what had happened in that office. Or, at least, every external trace.
At least one thing made sense now: why Percy and Lola had decided my arse needed prepping earlier while I was unconscious. They’d expected this. Maybe not this exact scenario, but something close to it. The realization made me mad.
I wasn’t a fucking communal chew toy for Wonderland.
Once I’d toweled myself dry, I reluctantly pulled the leather outfit back on. My choices were limited to either wearing it or making a naked escape attempt, and somehow I doubted strolling bare-arsed through Wonderland would improve my evening.
The office was still empty when I left the bathroom, and the door remained unlocked. I stepped into the corridor warily, listening hard for voices or approaching footsteps.
Nothing.
Relief loosened my shoulders slightly. The absolute last thing I wanted right now was to run into Zane and Zeke again with those smug, knowing grins on their faces.
At the far end of the corridor, a heavy fire door caught my attention, offering an alternative to weaving back through the club.
Could I be that lucky?
Apparently, yes.
The door swung open when I shoved against the bar, cold air rushing in. I stepped through immediately, letting it slam shut behind me before anyone could stop me. If an alarm had gone off, I didn’t hear it. I wasn’t sure I would have cared if I had.
Outside was dark, the alley lit only by a weak security light somewhere overhead that did more to create shadows than dispel them. I blamed that for not noticing the man standing there until I was almost on top of him.
