Chapter 21
TWENTY-ONE
Loco.
So far, I’d come up with a pretty lengthy list of ten mothafuckas that would be dying very soon.
I’d been sitting in the same small ass cell for two mothafuckin’ days and not once had the niggas let me get a call.
All they’d done was send different mothafuckas down to ask questions they knew they wouldn’t get the answers to, bring food that was visibly contaminated, and stand outside of my door talking just loud enough about how I was done for since no one knew where I was.
I counted each of the different voices I’d heard and was determined to put a face to each of them.
I was about to close my eyes when I heard a lot of commotion, then the voice of one of the realest niggas I’d ever met.
“Loco!”
“Sir, you can’t be back here!” Collin’s bitch ass said.
“No? Who’s going to stop me and what exactly can you do about it?”
“We don’t have a Loco he—”
“Quit bullshittin’ with me,” Miles cut him off, “I know for a fact that my client was brought in here almost forty-eight hours ago. He hasn’t been booked, nor has he been allowed to make a call. That’s an outrageous amount of time of undue process.”
“He has…”
“He hasn’t because if he had, I would have been his first call,” Miles cut in again.
“You have no idea who I am or what I’m capable of, lil’ man.
My client is a superstar who is currently on tour.
Your little stunts have cost him a lot of time and money that you’re not going to be able to afford to pay him, considering that two of his shows have now been cancelled.
Save yourself and this station time, and an even bigger lawsuit, and either charge him now so I can have the shit thrown out or bring him out here whole and in order so we can bounce. ”
There was a brief silence before I heard footsteps resume then keys outside of the door. I went ahead and got up because the decision was clear. When the door opened little Collin was scowling at me while Miles was smirking.
“You good?” Miles asked as I made my way over.
“You know it.” I dapped him up and bumped lil’ buddy on the way out.
“You got lucky this time, Mr. Matthews.”
“That’s good enough because I only had to be lucky this one time,” I smirked. “You, on the other hand, gotta be lucky for the rest of ya life. See ya around, Lord.”
Every officer I passed as I exited had a scowl to match the first niggas. I looked each one of them in their faces, etching them in my brain because I wanted to make sure none of them looked the same when I was done with them.
There were cameras and shit flashing as soon as I stepped out of the precinct.
I wondered briefly how they even knew I was there, but then I noticed my pops talking to one of the reporters.
They all rushed toward me, but thankfully there was some security waiting to keep them at bay.
When my pops neared, I dapped him up and hugged him, thanking him for being there and for being the first to report the shit because the police could have flipped it any way they wanted to if they got to the media first.
Once we were in the car, my dad let me know that my mother was with Diamond at her crib.
I nodded and thanked him before powering my phone on.
The fucking screen was magically cracked, but I could still see.
I hit my assistant and had her ass order me a new one then ordered Diamond some flowers to be delivered to her crib.
I needed to make up for the two days that I wasn’t able to send them and apologize for the shit that I’d put her through with all the bullshit that was going on.
I hugged my mother tight as fuck when we made it to Diamond’s since she was the first one I saw.
Ms. Joyce was there talking with her, so I hugged her too.
She told me that she had been worried since she saw them haul me off a few nights ago, so I apologized for worrying them both, then went to the back where I found my girl still asleep.
I let her rest while I took a long, hot shower, then I brushed my teeth and threw on some boxers and ball shorts before climbing in bed with her ass. I hadn’t slept my damn self in the last couple of days, so I needed to get some rest, at least until she woke up.
It felt like I’d just laid down when I heard Diamond calling my name and shaking me while she sat her little ass on top of me.
“Makhai!”
“Baby, chill,” I grabbed her wrist and pulled her forward without opening my eyes.
“When did you get here? Why didn’t you wake me up?”
“Because I knew you was gon’ ask me hella questions like you doin’ right now.” I chuckled.
“I’ve been worried sick,” she said, sitting back up so I opened my eyes to look at her.
She’d turned on a lamp and all, but a nigga was knocked the fuck out, so I ain’t even notice.
“They told me you weren’t there., she sniffled, so I reached up to thumb away her tears before bringing her down for a kiss.
“I’m good, baby,” I assured. “I know them niggas wasn’t playa with the way they did shit, but I got them. I’m gon’ handle it.”
“No, Makhai,” she climbed off my lap. “Let your lawyer handle things. I can’t deal with you going back to jail or something worse happening.”
“Ay,” I reached for her, pulling her back on top of me where I held her. “I’m cool, aight? A nigga not goin’ back to jail.”
“How do you know that?” she whimpered. “They’re trying to pin murders on you.”
“They gotta prove the shit beyond a reasonable doubt and I know they can’t,” I replied. “I don’t want to talk about none of that shit with you, just know I’m good, love. I promise you.”
“Okay,” she simpered.
“I thought when niggas was fresh out, they girls welcomed them home with some head or some shit,” I smirked. “You don’t ever do right.”
“Shut up.” She laughed and pushed me a little. “I’m serious right now.”
“Me too,” I said. “You see my shit?” I nodded toward my groin. “Shit harder than steel seeing yo’ fine ass.”
“Your parents are still out there.”
“And? You think they don’t know you top me off?” My brows dipped.
“They better not!” she shrieked with a wide smile on her pretty ass face. “I hate you!”
“They know who they raised,” I grinned. “For real though can you go fix me something to eat? I didn’t eat yesterday or this morning.”
Her pretty face frowned up again. “They didn’t feed you?”
“They tried, but I wasn’t eating that bullshit,” I shook my head. “Not only was the shit probably nasty as hell, but they’d also clearly contaminated the shit.”
“Wow,” she scoffed. “I hope you reported it.”
“Reported it to who, love?” I chuckled. “The mothafuckas that was contaminatin’ the shit?”
“It’s not funny,” she pouted. “They could have killed you.”
“Nigga gon’ need Pharaoh’s army to fuck with me, on Lord.”
“A man came by here earlier,” she said as she climbed off of my lap.
I frowned, catching her by the wrist. “Who?”
“A guy named Lance,” she answered with a shrug.
“A guy named Lance? That’s all you gon’ tell me? What the fuck was he here for?”
“He said he was Keona’s father,” she replied sadly. “He said he wants her.”
“Wants her?” My frown deepened. “Where the fuck he been at?”
“I don’t know.” She sighed heavily.
“What his ass say? He was on some bullshit?”
“No,” she slowly sat on the bed. “He was actually very nice to me and seemed genuine now that I think about it.” She dropped her head and started to fidget with her fingers. “I was really mean to him, and I feel kind of bad.”
“For what?”
“I just told you he was nice to me, but I was already on ten after leaving ACPD, so he was kind of the victim of my wrath.”
“Whoopty doo.” I sat up and pulled her to me, closing her in my arms. “You reserve the right to be angry, love. Dude could have been nice, but that shit don’t negate the fact that he ain’t been there for Baby Lord from the jump—just like ya sister hasn’t.”
“He said he didn’t know she was pregnant.”
“How he know she had the baby then?”
“Apparently after she saw you, she went to find him and told him.”
“For what? What I got to do with his ass bein’ a father?”
Again she shrugged. “I think she saw you and saw a pay day to be honest, but he didn’t seem interested in you or what we had to offer. He just wanted to see Keona.”
“Well, he not. At least not until we find out who the fuck he is and what he got goin’ on,” I stated then asked, “you called the social worker?”
She shook her head. “Not yet. I’m going to call them tomorrow, but I didn’t even get the man’s whole name. He just said Lance.”
I nodded. “Send me the footage from ya camera. The lil’ homie can find out who he is.”
She grabbed her phone and took a few seconds to send it to me.
When she did, I sent the shit to Frog and told him to get on the shit pronto.
I didn’t know how she planned to go about shit with buddy, but I wanted to make sure he was legit and righteous before she even thought about letting his ass be around Baby Lord.
The police were already on my trail for some shit they didn’t have no proof of, but about my girl and Baby Lord, I’d yell it from the top of the world that I bodied the nigga and smile in my mugshot behind the shit.
“But when did you see Gwen and why?” Diamond asked, jarring me from my thoughts.
“Went to see about that nigga Junior and her ass happened to be there,” I confessed.
“She had me hot too because while I was teaching that nigga a lesson, she had the nerve to be crying and shit.” I shook my head.
“If she wasn’t ya sister and I didn’t know you cared about her ass, she would have been no more.
I don’t respect the way she handling Baby Lord. ”
“I know,” she replied softly, “I don’t either, but it is what it is. I won’t keep her father away if everything with him checks out. I know how it feels to long for the love of a parent.” She sighed heavily.
Scooting closer to her, I pulled her pretty ass into a hug because she looked like she needed one.
“Shit gon’ be aight. Yo’ nigga gon’ make sure of it.” I pulled back to peer down into her beautiful brown eyes.
A small smile teased at the corner of her lips before she circled my torso with her arms. “I know you will.”
“Can you feed yo’ nigga now? I’m fuckin’ starvin’.”
“Yes, greedy, come on.” She chuckled as she climbed from the bed, and I followed right behind her like a lovesick ass high school boy, wrapping my arms around her, pressing my hard dick into her ass because my shit always stood at attention when she was around.
She ended up pushing me off of her when we made it to the living room because my parents and the baby were up and talking.
I went over to kidnap Baby Lord while she went to the kitchen to cook.
Being with my girl and our family had a nigga’s mind clear for the moment and not even thinking about the bullshit that had happened.
But make no mistake about the shit…
I had something special planned for Detective Arnold and anybody else that played with me at ACPD. I was just gon’ let the shit simmer down and Miles do his thing before I got on my bullshit.
