Lolly
The campus is flooded with students. Jay and I arrived early enough to get our dorm assignments and schedules before the rush, but now we’re lost in the crowd trying to move our stuff in.
“Jay, I swear to fuck, if you sing that song one more time I’m going to shove your giant ass into oncoming traffic,” I protest as we head out the double doors of the student center.
“Wait up, you twats!” Jinx yells from behind us.
I crack a smile and slow my steps so they can catch up.
Jinx’s platforms clack on the concrete walkway, all twenty of their bracelets loudly clinging together.
“Jinxie Poo, I’ve missed you,” Jay teases, twirling a strand of their pink hair around his finger.
“Careful, the dye is fresh, might stain your big ass fingers,” Jinx snaps, yanking Jay’s hand out of their hair. “Also, it’s only been two days, Jay. You can’t love me that much, I haven’t even blown you yet.”
I snort a laugh, “Jesus, that’s not really something I want to envision.”
“Liar,” Jinx retorts with a wink.
“Holy fuck y’all, look,” Jay says, pointing in the direction of an adorable emo kid jogging down the street.
“What exactly are we looking at?” Jinx squints, brows furrowed in confusion.
“He’s chasing his luggage down the road,” Jay wheezes.
“Poor baby,” Jinx says.
“Oh shit,” I laugh as the careening suitcase comes into view.
“Nice ass, though,” Jinx adds.
“You’re not wrong,” I admit.
“And oh my, who is the suitcase chaser’s blonde beefcake of a friend?” Jinx adds. “Oliver, promise me you’ll get his name.”
I roll my eyes, “Fine, I promise.”
“I owe you my life,” they say with a wink.
I laugh. “Damnit, Jinx. We really are going to miss you. Are you sure we can’t change your mind?” I ask, giving them my best pouty face.
“Nope. I need to get the fuck out of here for a little while. I’ll come visit. We can do his and theirs manicures! Promise,” they reply with a soft smile.
“Your parents refused to pay for any other school, didn’t they?”
“Bet your ass they did. Only the most prestigious university will suffice for a Brewer,” Jinx says with an eye roll. “Joke’s on them though, there’s a fabulous queer community in the area and yours truly is going to be smack dab in the glorious middle of it.”
“I don’t doubt that for a second.”
