Lolly

The air is alive. Anticipation hums beneath my skin, heightening my senses. It’s more than the excitement of the live music, the thrumming bass and guitar riffs.

It’s him.

His proximity changes something in me, like I’m tuned to a frequency only he can access.

I pop a sucker into my mouth, rolling the wrapper into a tight ball before placing it in my jeans pocket.

Cotton Candy. Hell yeah.

“Dude, I can’t believe my favorite pink-haired goofball is about to be on that stage.

” Jay is smiling like a kid at Christmas.

He’s been a fan of Will since he was with Flawed Saviour.

I’ve sat through more vocal analysis videos than I can count.

One including live laryngoscopy. Highly educational, yes. But also deeply unsettling.

“I’d literally consider going gay for him. True story,” he yells over the crowd.

“I’ve no doubt you would, Jay. None whatsoever.”

I glance in Liam and Bailey’s direction one more time. He didn’t speak to me earlier, only addressed Jay. Is he playing it safe, or not playing at all?

I let my gaze rest heavy on the side of his beautiful face. Ensuring he feels it.

Feels me.

He doesn’t look at me.

Not once.

Like if he does, he won’t survive.

But his body betrays him, angling toward mine like it forgot the script.

The corners of my mouth turn up.

I see you, green eyes.

I see you.
