Lolly

I walk out of the pharmacy feeling lighter. I didn’t wake up this morning and make plans to see him. I literally just got in my car and somehow ended up in the pharmacy parking lot.

I don’t regret it.

I allowed him to see me. To hear me. To understand what it is I want.

And even though I don’t truly understand it myself, I know that I spoke my truth.

I want to know him again.

Why? I have no idea.

I’ve never met anyone who calls to me in the ways that he does.

The way my body responds to him—it’s more intricate than superficial attraction. It’s a pull, an ache, a need.

The past few weeks I’ve felt lighter. Free to breathe.

Bailey has been the perfect distraction from watching my mom slip away. Each new part of him I’ve been able to procure has lessened the pain of those of her that I’ve lost.

A soothing balm in the madness.

A strange light in the darkness.

I get in my car and grab my phone.

Me: I think I’m ready for the phone number

Liam: I think he’s ready for you to have it
