Chapter Four

She was lying down on the back deck of the estate, looking up at the sky when I was able to locate her. Her beautiful blonde hair flowing out around her like a fucking halo.

Proof enough that she needed to get out before shit hit the roof.

She jumped up when she realised I was standing there watching her like a fucking creep. The heavenly chuckle that came out of her when she realised it was just me. That heavenly woman’s laugh could easily heal the crack in my old heart, and it scared me a little.

There was something about her, something she was hiding that made her jumpy. I wanted desperately to find out why she was running, why she was scared so I could make it all better. The feeling was overwhelming me and I didn’t know why.

It wasn’t a feeling I was familiar with, not since Clementine.

The reminder of the woman I lost was hard enough, coupled with the threat looming and the fact I was going to have to let my brothers know what was coming was making me choke with anxiety.

“Sorry,” she said, standing up. “I was in my own world.”

“Do you do that often?”

She looked down at the place she was lying down on. “Lying down?”

“Looking up at the clouds.”

She frowned. “Do you?”

“Not since I was a child, no.”

“Maybe you need to do it again, then.”

I couldn’t help the smirk that inevitably appeared on my face. When she noticed it, I knew I was done for. She smiled back and laid back down on the deck. Feeling as if I needed to indulge her, I got down and laid next to her.

The smell of her shampoo wafting over me was intoxicating, and I had to curl my fist into a ball to stop myself from grabbing her hair and yanking her toward me. What was it about this woman that I couldn’t seem to control myself around?

“Why do you like looking up at the clouds?” I asked her, as I took in the wide sky above me. The blue sky had been hard to come by lately, but today was a remarkably beautiful day.

“Because there’s no drama up there,” she said. There was a wistful sadness to her voice, and that damn accent came back strong. She must fight to sound like she’s from anywhere but Cork. “Anything that is going on down here, doesn’t reach up there. There’s a beauty to how the clouds move, soundlessly, and smoothly. It’s calming and helps me to think.”

“What do you need to think about?” I asked her.

“I…well, I need to go,” she said. “It’s nothing against you or anything, Lorcan, you’ve been more than hospitable, and I have loved being here but I need to keep moving.”

I felt the smile fade from my lips. Even though I knew I needed to get her away from us, there was something deep inside that made me want to deny her that freedom. I needed to protect her somehow, by keeping her close.

“Will you return to Cork?”

Her eyes knitted together in confusion, and she opened and closed her mouth a few times, surprised. “How did you know I was from Cork?”

“You have a strong accent, love.”

“Oh.”

“You don’t want me to know you’re from Cork…why?”

“I don’t want anyone to know,” she said, sitting up and looking down at her fidgeting hands. “It’s embarrassing, okay?”

“That’s not embarrassment on your expression, love, that’s fear.”

She looked up at me, and I saw the unshed tears in her eyes. I sat up quickly, some primal side of me wanting to carry her inside and lock her away so nothing could hurt her creeping up on me.

“What do you have to fear in Cork?” I asked.

“My name isn’t Ava,” she said, even though I’d already known that, I didn’t rightly care what her name was if she wanted to change it. “It’s Bridget Moriarty.”

Realisation washed over me and immediately I felt as if she’d been unleashed on me for a reason. The Moriarty’s were the ones aiding Amity and Ronan. Was she a spy?

“Why are you telling me this?”

“You deserve to know,” she said. “Now you know why I have to leave before they find me here. They’ll bring so much shit to this place, and you don’t deserve that.”

Confusion replaced the panic, and I slowly came to the realization that she had run from them. She was hiding from her own family.

I took her hand. “You can trust me. I can help you find somewhere to go. I’ve got contacts everywhere.”

“It would be best if I just ran,” she said, that sad smile making its way to her face again. “But thank you for the offer.”

“Why are you running from them?” I asked her, curiosity getting the better of me.

“They’re monsters.”

Immediately, I felt something stir inside of me, and I knew there was no way I could let this girl go. She was hiding from her own family, and they were meant to be the ones who helped you. Blood was always thicker than water.

“I should get packed,” she said, pushing up onto her feet. I shot to my feet quickly to help her. My rough thumb grazed over the back of her hand, feeling the soft skin there and wondering just how anybody could hurt this woman.

She gazed up into my eyes, those blue eyes searching mine for something…a reason as to why I was keeping her here, maybe.

“I think you should stay with Teeghan and Sloane,” I found myself saying without realising why.

“Why?”

“I don’t know, but I know you need to be safe and they know how to be safe. We’ll have to send them away soon and I think you should go with them.”

“I barely know them, Lorcan.”

“Ireland isn’t going to be safe for a while, Bridget.”

“What’s going on?” she asked. I saw her breath hitch as she asked, and her eyes were darker blue now, searching mine for an answer. She was scared.

“Our enemies are closing in, and those who I once thought were allies, are coming for what’s mine. There are only a few I trust, and one of them is going to take you girls back to his mansion and keep you safe.”

“How is leaving going to be safer?” she asked me. I wish I had the answer, because it scared the shit out of me that we were leaving the girls in a foreign country with no one to keep them safe but I knew Saverio would never betray me.

“I know this is a lot to ask, but you must trust me.”

I cupped the side of her face and pulled her face up to mine, claiming her lips softly. She tasted like strawberries and it almost undid me right here, right then. Finally, I found the will to pull away.

“Damn you,” she muttered softly, her breathy voice doing things to my crotch that I needed to get a handle on and quick. “That’s just playing dirty.”

“Only way I know how to, love.”

I pulled away, feeling the loss of her warmth immediately, before I took her right here on the deck, backing away to a safe distance. My cock aching in my pants.

“I’ll organise it now, and I’ll see you in your room later.”

I didn’t give her a chance to argue before I disappeared into the house, trying to shake free the ache deep inside of me.

This was for the best.

I needed my wits about me and knowing she and the girls were safe was the only way.

The nerve of him to kiss me like that and pretend like I’m just going to fall in line. Lorcan O’Farrell may be the ultimate man I’ve tried to manifest my entire life, but he will not boss me about. I stormed up the stairs, running to my room and started to pack the clothes into my backpack before I lost all sight of what my goal was - to escape.

I ran about the room in a flurry of movement to make sure I didn’t forget anything. Of course, because I was in a mild panic, I needed to pee.

Goddamn this nervous bladder.

I moved into the bathroom, closing the door and taking in my reflection before I sat down on the toilet. My face was flushed, and my hair was flying out of my hair tie, but I knew this was the right thing. Once I was free of the O’Farrell’s estate, I could get on a boat. I could shoot across to England or Scotland, maybe even Wales. I’d always wanted to go there.

Once I was done, I flushed the toilet and tried to straighten my hair into my hair tie once more before I opened the door of the bathroom, only to clutch at my chest when I noticed Teeghan sitting on the end of my bed with a cocky grin on her face.

“Going somewhere?” she asked.

“Yes, as a matter of fact, I am, and you can’t stop me this time,” I told her, making a move to grab my bag. She grabbed it before I could get to it and blocked my exit.

“It’s not the best time to be leaving on your own,” she said. “Sit down and wait for Lorcan.”

“You aren’t the boss of me,” I said, angrily.

“Sit the fuck down, little girl.”

Her grin was gone and she took on a tone that startled me a little. Now it made sense that Teeghan was with Conor. She could be a part of this world. I knew I could too, but I didn’t want to be. I didn’t want to be the reason someone died because they looked at me the wrong way on the street.

“I am not entwined with anyone here like you are, Teeghan. I am free to go as I wish.”

“Sit down and tell Lorcan that, then. Once he says it’s okay, I’ll move out of your way.”

If only I weren’t so nice, I would clock her one and run but she was right. The least I could do was tell Lorcan I was appreciative of his offer, but I would do it on my own. He was no monster.

“Fine.”

I sat down on the bed, waiting for her to leave but she didn’t. A grin spread across her face once more and suddenly I realised she had no intention of simply leaving me alone. She reached behind her and pulled out a set of handcuffs.

Oh hell no.

She clasped my wrist in one of the cuffs before attaching it to the end of the bed. I pulled, yanked and did anything I could to get free but they were tough.

“Are you freakin’ kidding me?” I yelled at her.

“Just in case,” she said with a smirk. “You are a flight risk, after all.”

She disappeared through the door again, closing it after her, no matter how much I protested.

My wrist began to ache from the pulling and yanking and the cold metal still remained in place.

Fuck.

I sat down on the bed and waited. What else could I do?

The sound of grunting had me propelling into the room so fast, my fists balled, that it surprised me. When I looked upon Bridget sitting on the end, her wrist red from the handcuff attached to it, I felt anger.

“Who did this?” I asked her, moving to her as quickly as I could.

“Teeghan.”

I groaned, knowing just how annoying she could be. She may be annoying but there would only be one reason she’d do this, and that was to keep her from running.

I grabbed the cuff and snapped the chain in half. Bridget looked at me with surprise as she nursed her wrist to her chest.

“I’ll have to cut the rest of it off your wrist,” I said to her. “I’m sorry she did this to you. Why were you running? I told you that I could protect you.”

“Look, I’ve done well on my own, so I appreciate the offer, but I know how to disappear.”

“You’re getting on the plane with Teeghan and Sloane, Bridget.”

She looked shocked, and personally, I was a little too. I hadn’t felt this possessive over anything before, well maybe once or twice, but not in a long time.

“You can’t tell me what to do,” she bit back.

“Watch me,” I told her, my voice deeper than I recognised and a tension growing between us that I needed to be wary of. My cock was pushing against my jeans uncomfortably as I waited for her to talk back. God, how I wanted her naked and on her back as I drove into her, hard.

She made a move to walk past me. Something primal reached out and grabbed her arm, yanking her back in the room.

“What the fu-”

I silenced her with my mouth, her lips crushed under mine as she moaned into my mouth. There was no going back now. I yanked her pants down, eliciting a hiss from her as she broke away from my kiss.

I threw her back so she fell on the bed. Grabbing her jeans, I yanked them down her legs and tossed them to the side of the room. Pulling my own jeans down over my hips and pulling my cock free. She looked down at it, bobbing in the air, her eyes wild as she licked her lips. I grabbed her legs and held them in the air, opening them wide to reveal that pretty pink pussy I craved. I moved my hands down, my fingers running up and down her arousal soaked slit. She let out a gasp, followed by a moan that did things to my cock. I needed to claim her.

She was mine.

A possessive thought that scared me at how easily I had become hooked by her. There was no way I could let her walk away.

I pushed one finger into her, watching as she arched off the bed, her head turning to the side as she moaned into the sheets. Another finger and I felt her tight heat squeezing me.

Goddamn it.

I would cum before I got inside of her if I wasn’t careful.

She was wet, her body humming from the intrusion before I lifted her legs over my shoulders and pushed my aching cock into her.

I let out a roar as I felt her walls close in around me, squeezing my cock to within an inch of its life. Slowly, I pulled out before I slammed back into her, picking up the pace as I fucked her senseless. I needed to fuck the idea of leaving out of her.

I needed to fuck her so she never wanted another cock again.

I grunted with every thrust, my fingers digging into the flesh of her thighs as she arched her back off the bed, gripping the sheets and balling her hands into fists, pulling the sheets from the corners.

I was vaguely aware of the bedroom door still being open, but I didn’t care. The way I was making her scream, no one would dare come to see the show. I continued my assault on her pussy, as I plundered my way to claiming her for good.

It wasn’t a feeling I was used to, to claim. I’d never truly wanted to claim anyone before, not even Clementine.

Bridget screamed out my name as her climax eclipsed her. I pounded harder into her as she rode out her orgasm. I couldn’t stop.

I needed to be in her, to take over her in every way, I needed to have her.

The feeling scared me, and yet it made me feel like a beast, like I was untouchable. She gave me the confidence that I desperately needed right now.

She looked up at me, those bright blue eyes drilling into me, her mouth opened in an O as I felt her pussy swell around my cock again.

Sweet Jesus.

She screamed as I felt her pussy walls strangle my cock again, tumbling me over into my own bliss moments later.

Mine.
