Chapter 5

Zoran's dragon took a deep breath, relishing the beautiful of the night.

Reluctantly, he dragged himself away from Abby and started collecting the driftwood that had washed up on the shore.

Abby's amused chuckle filled the air when he flicked his tail, displaying his strength as he effortlessly tossed a large log onto the small pile of dried branches. Using his claws, he deftly organized the collection of dried wood, creating an orderly stack. Breathing in deeply, he blew a steady stream of dragon’s breath on the dried pile of wood.

As the wood crackled and popped under the intense heat, a small bonfire ignited, casting a warm glow.

Soon, their small oasis along the lake was bathed in a mesmerizing golden light, flickering and dancing, creating long shadows.

The flickering flames of the fire danced and radiated a soothing warmth, creating a cozy atmosphere around them.

Zoran's dragon gracefully walked across the sandy beach, leaving footprints in its wake as it returned to Abby's side.

Settling down beside her in the sand, he gently nuzzled Abby's slender neck with an affectionate touch.

As he curled his body protectively around her, his dragon let out a contented sigh, the sound echoing softly in the night.

Abby's dragon purred, its soft and melodic voice filling the air like a soothing lullaby.

The sound of her humming carried through the air, a nostalgic tune that reverberated in their unbreakable bond—a song she had lovingly sung to Zohar during his early dragonling days and now sung to their daughter.

Zoran's dragon closed his eyes, his heart swelling as the enchanting melody danced through the air. Her voice, filled with love, wrapped around him like a warm embrace, resonating deeply within his soul. In the silence, their love spoke volumes, a powerful connection that words could never capture.

When the song ended, Abby’s dragon rested her head on his chest, her eyes half-closed as she basked in the warmth of the fire and in his protective embrace.

Zoran opened his eyes, gazing down at her with a mixture of awe and gratitude.

He leaned closer, his dragon’s deep voice resonating through their bond.

“You have given me more than I ever thought possible,” he murmured, his voice filled with emotion. “Finding you… it changed everything. You brought light into my life when I didn’t even realize how much I needed it. And Zohar… Aurora… they are my heart.”

Abby’s dragon nuzzled him gently, her warmth seeping into him as she listened. Her eyes glowed with love and understanding.

“You’ve given me a family, Abby,” Zoran continued, his voice growing softer. “Something I never thought I would have. Every time I look at our children, I see the best of us—the love we share, the life we’ve built together. I can’t imagine my life without you, without them.”

Abby’s dragon pressed closer, her body wrapped tightly against his as her tail entwined with his.

She purred softly, her dragon’s voice echoing through their bond.

“I feel the same way, Zoran. You’ve given me everything.

You’ve shown me what it means to love, to belong.

I couldn’t have dreamed of a better life. ”

For a while, they remained like that, two dragons entwined in the moonlit night, their bond stronger than ever.

The crackling of the fire and the gentle lapping of the lake’s water were the only sounds that accompanied their quiet moment together.

Their dragons shared an unspoken understanding, a connection that ran deep through their souls.

This night, this moment, was a celebration of the love that had grown between them.

Zoran’s dragon gently nudged Abby’s, his voice filled with warmth and affection. “Do you remember the first time our dragons met?” he asked softly.

Abby’s dragon purred a long sigh filled with emotion, the sound soft, melodic, and filled with memory. “How could I forget? You were like a shining light to me.”

Zoran smiled, a deep, rumbling purr escaping him.

“It’s our anniversary—our dragons’ anniversary.

I’ve never forgotten that night, Abby. Or how frightened I was of losing you.

When I saw you in that meadow,” his voice paused, filled with emotion before he continued, “when I saw you in the meadow, you were the most beautiful, precious thing to me. I never imagined that what I felt then would pale in comparison to what I feel for you now. My love has only grown stronger. Tonight, I want to make a wish for our future.”

Abby’s dragon lifted her head, her eyes glowing with curiosity. “What’s your wish?”

Zoran’s dragon closed his eyes for a moment, then whispered through their bond, “I wish for many more flights together, more laughter, more love. I wish for our family to grow, for our hearts to remain forever entwined, and for our love to be as endless as the stars above.”

Abby’s dragon purred in response, her voice soft and full of emotion. “I wish for the same, Zoran. For every moment we share to be filled with joy and for our bond to grow stronger with each passing day. I couldn’t ask for anything more.”

Their dragons pressed their snouts together, sharing a tender kiss beneath the stars. The fire crackled beside them, its golden light casting a warm glow over their entwined forms.

After a while, Zoran’s dragon stretched his wings, the desire to fly once again stirring within him. “Shall we head home?” he asked softly, his eyes filled with love.

Abby’s dragon nodded, her wings unfolding gracefully as she rose to her feet. “I’d like that.”

He rose and extinguished the fire as she walked across the sand to the edge of the water.

With a playful swish of her tail, she sent a spray of water over the burning coals.

Zoran chuckled and released a low growl.

Abby squealed at the promise in the rumble and took off running down the beach before lifting off.

Zoran followed. The powerful beat of his wings lifting him off the ground until he was soaring into the night sky.

The sparkling water below twinkled with the reflection of the stars as they rose higher, leaving the cove behind.

The wind rushed past them, carrying them toward home.

Together, they flew side by side, their hearts full of love and their souls forever bound.

As they flew through the night, a shimmering golden Goddess watched protectively over the two dragons.

Glowing with satisfaction, Aikaterina sighed at the love that had saved the life of the dragon-shifter.

The stars shone a little brighter as they shared in the beautiful of the two dragons who had found their perfect mate and a love that would last for all eternity.
