Chapter 16
Karter ducked as one of the other waitresses lifted her tray to avoid a stumbling patron.
He’d more than likely had too much to drink, and it seemed as if he was attempting to get some sort of line dance going.
Though none of his friends he’d come with seemed as drunk as he was or interested in participating, he danced anyway.
It was Saturday night, and things were hectic.
Creed had decided to have a drink special that night, since they’d been closed the weekend before because they were on vacation.
He did that whenever he’d closed for a few days.
Karter had always wondered why he didn’t just stay open and allow his employees to work, but he stated that if he wasn’t working, he didn’t want them to have to either.
Which she had no problems with because he still paid them.
Going to the bar, she placed a drink order for two tables before deciding to check on another that had been there for a while.
They had ordered nothing aside from a beer apiece, which she didn’t really mind, though she found it strange that they’d been there for almost two hours.
Karter didn’t know anyone who went to a bar for the atmosphere.
Not that Purgatory’s atmosphere wasn’t nice.
At least when people weren’t acting like fools and trying to fight.
It was simply that it wasn’t a club. Not a place you went just for the vibes. So, people like this current table always made her wonder, but it wasn’t her business. Everyone liked different things, and this may have been their thing.
Once she was sure they were alright, she went to a table that looked like it was finishing up and asked them if she could clear some glasses and plates off the table for them. She knew the bar was busy, and while they would get the drinks out as soon as they could, it would be a few more minutes.
Karter took the items into the kitchen, set them aside to be washed, and smiled at Richard and Mike as they cooked. Logan was nowhere to be found, and she figured he was out back taking a break.
Returning to the main area, she went over to the bar just as Ilia placed her order down next to her tickets. She said a quick thank you to the older woman before placing them all on her tray and delivering them to the tables.
Karter knew that if the night continued on the way it was going, the night would fly by. However, she also knew that she would be dead on her feet and ready to hibernate when it was all said and done.
She was just about to sneak off to the kitchen to see if she could convince Mike to make her some loaded fries when a table flagged her.
Karter went over, thinking that maybe they were ready to order another drink, but she saw their mugs were still half full.
So, she figured they wanted their check.
“What can I do for you?” she asked.
“I was wondering if the owner was in,” one of the men said.
“We’d like to speak to them,” the other tacked on.
“I’ll see if he’s available,” Karter responded before turning and heading towards Creed’s office.
He’d been in there for most of the night catching up on orders, bills, payroll, and anything that he hadn’t done the week before because they were on vacation. Granted, he could have done it when they’d gotten back, but Karter was sure he just didn’t want to.
She knocked before opening the door and stepping inside. Creed looked up at her before turning his attention back to what he was doing.
“Are you okay out there, baby?”
She nodded, even though he wasn’t looking at her. “Yeah, I’m fine.” She approached the desk. “There are some men out there who want to talk to you.”
Creed stopped what he was doing and looked up at her. “Did something happen?”
“I don’t think so,” Karter responded. He raised a brow at her, and she elaborated.
“They’ve been sitting out there for about two hours babysitting the same two beers.
I’ve checked on them throughout, and to my knowledge, no one else has approached their table.
So, I can’t think of anything that could have happened. ”
Creed stood up and rounded the desk. “They better not be on some shit, I’m not in the mood.”
It was Karter’s turn to raise a brow at him. “What’s wrong?”
“Other than the fact that I haven’t slept beside you or been inside of you for the past six days?”
She knew she was blushing by the heat that rose in her cheeks, and honestly, she didn’t know why.
It wasn’t the first time he’d said anything mildly salacious to her, and she knew it wouldn’t be the last. Maybe it was because she hadn’t been expecting him to say that was what was wrong with him when she asked.
“Come home with me tonight,” he requested.
“I’ll have to go to my place and get some clothes.”
“You don’t have to,” Creed told her with a smirk. “I’m perfectly fine with you walking around naked.”
She rolled her eyes playfully as she shook her head at him. “I am not walking around naked the entire time.”
“Fine,” he told her as if she’d just told a child Santa wasn’t real. “Leave half an hour early tonight so you can get some clothes. I’ll meet you at my house after closing.”
“I don’t need to leave early. You don’t have to give me special treatment.”
“I know I don’t have to, but I’m going to.” He leaned down and kissed her. “Now, I guess I should see what these men want.”
With that, the two of them headed out of his office and back to the main area.
Ravage ensured everything was locked up before he headed to his truck. It was a bit later than he had hoped it would be when he left. He hadn’t wanted Karter to have to wait long for him, but she knew where he kept his spare key, and he knew she’d let herself in.
He’d gotten stuck speaking to the two men, who he learned were Clint and Abe. They had apparently visited his place to scope it out. They were looking for a space to host a homebrew judging contest and wanted to know if it would be something he was interested in.
Ravage had been honest with them, stating that if it was going to eat into any of his open days, he was not at all interested.
To which they’d informed him that the contest would be held over a forty-eight-hour period, and only on the days the bar was closed.
He hadn’t seen a problem with that. Other than that, he’d have to be there because he didn’t trust anyone he didn’t know alone in his establishment.
Though they were still looking into places and had yet to make their decision, they informed Ravage of the compensation he would receive for essentially renting his bar out to them for two days, and he had to admit he was a fan of the number.
He’d exchanged contact information with Abe, and he had wanted to get up and finish what he needed to do, but they’d struck up a conversation with him.
Ravage didn’t see the harm in speaking to them for a few more minutes, and it had quickly turned into an hour.
He wasn’t even sure how that happened, considering the entire conversation was about beer.
Ravage pulled into his driveway fifteen minutes later, behind Karter’s car. Getting out, he went to the front door, placing his key into the lock and opening it. It was quiet and dark inside except for a dim light coming from his bedroom. He assumed that was more than likely where she was.
He was proven correct when he rounded the corner into the room and found her asleep on his bed in one of his t-shirts. Ravage couldn’t help but smile at her as he went to his bathroom, pulling his shirt over his head.
He figured she would be pretty tired. Especially since everyone had worked from open to close that day because of the increased business brought on by the promotion.
Ravage closed the door, not wanting the sound of the shower to wake her. He wanted that privilege for himself.
Once he was undressed, he stepped under the spray of water, and he hadn’t realized how tense and tired his muscles were until the hot water was raining down on him.
If that was how he felt, he could only imagine what Karter felt.
Considering he hadn’t worked nearly as hard as she had that night.
He reevaluated his plan. Because as much as he wanted to be inside her.
He was also not an asshole and knew that she needed to rest.
When he finished his shower, he dried himself off, tossing the towel to the side before opening the bathroom door. Karter was still in the same position she’d been in when he’d gotten there. Going over to his dresser, he pulled out a pair of boxers and slipped them on before approaching the bed.
Ravage pulled the comforter off her gently so as not to wake her before gripping both sides of her panties and pulling them down. He didn’t need them getting soaked. As he did, she stirred a bit but didn’t wake up.
Once he had finally gotten the panties off her, he got onto the bed, spreading her slightly parted legs further.
Ravage leaned in and licked up her slit slowly.
While he wouldn’t fuck her and exhaust her even more than she was already, at least for the night.
He would definitely indulge in tasting her.
He licked up her slit again before parting her lips and taking her clit between his. As he sucked on it, Karter stirred again before letting out a soft little keening noise. Ravage watched her, wanting to see the exact moment those eyes opened, and she found him having a snack before bed.
It didn’t take long before those brown eyes fluttered open to meet his on a gasp as he bit her clit softly. She brought one of her hands down to run over his hair, and Ravage swirled his tongue around her clit.
He by no means wanted to make this a fast taste, but it was going on three o’clock in the morning. If he was going to have her up this late, or early, depending on how someone looked at it, he wanted to be the one to exhaust her from start to finish.
