Epilogue - Sara

The next time I move, I’m planning better—and making absolutely sure it’s not during the hottest month of the year in Eagleton. The boob sweat is next-level aggressive today.

Thank God the move itself is short.

Dave and I decided to move in together after a few months of dating. I love my little cottage, but his place had history, memories, and—most importantly—love flowing from every corner.

He wanted the house to feel like my home, so he spent the last month turning one of the spare bedrooms into my gaming room and library, refusing to let me see it until today—move-in day.

“Are you ready?” he asks, leading me up the stairs.

“Yes.” I give his hand a little squeeze.

“I hope you love it.” He opens the door, stepping back so I can take in the space.

It’s beautiful. One wall is lined with floating shelves already stocked with my books—romance novels, fantasy paperbacks, collector’s editions I thought were still packed away.

A plush reading chair sits in the corner beneath a floor lamp with soft, golden light.

My desk faces the window, my full PC setup already assembled, LED lights tucked discreetly behind the monitor and shelves, glowing faintly.

There’s even a small couch along the opposite wall, layered with blankets, pillows, and of course, Sir Sloths-A-Lot is watching over his kingdom.

“I love it!” I say, throwing myself at him. He catches me with ease, kissing my temple before setting me back down.

“I’m glad. This is your home now too. I want you to have everything you need.”

“As long as I have you, that’s all I’ll ever need.” I smile at him.

A choking sound from the hallway makes us both look over.

“Oh, I’m sorry, there was so much love in the air I couldn’t breathe,” Sydney teases, arms crossed as she surveys the room.

“Maybe you should go back to the house if you can’t breathe here. I heard the air is better across the street,” I toss back at her. Sydney’s moving into my place now that I no longer need it.

“Ha ha, very funny.”

“I can’t believe your landlord could just kick you out like that.”

“I guess since I was renting month-to-month, he had the right not to renew,” she replies with a shrug. “Would’ve been nice to get more notice, though.”

“Well,” I smirk, “lucky for you, your best friend in the whole wide world just happened to be vacating her place.”

She smiles at me. “I know. Thank you again. I really appreciate it.”

“Of course. You’re basically my sister.” I wrap her in a tight hug.

“Just promise me you won’t barge in unannounced,” Dave chimes in behind me.

“No promises,” Sydney sing-songs.

“Okay, I’ll leave you two to chat.” Dave chuckles, placing a gentle kiss on my forehead. “I’m heading downstairs to meet Aiden so he can assist in moving some of the heavier items. He mentioned that he’s bringing brownies from Charlie’s bakery.”

“Yummmm!” I’m drooling just thinking about those brownies. “Thanks, babe.”

“Anything for you,” he says, leaning in for a kiss before leaving.

“You two are disgustingly adorable,” Sydney teases, plopping down onto the couch.

“I know.” I smile. “Who would’ve thought you could get love—delivered with DoorDash?”
