Chapter 45
“Who is that?”
“It’s Cynthia Dale,” Felicity hissed. “Shit. Where are my clothes?”
He flinched. “I think most of them are still in the downstairs closet.”
“To get to the downstairs closet, I have to walk by the front door. You ripped my dress straps, you savage.”
“Not apologizing. Sorry.” He threw her the only thing he could find, before pulling on his jeans. “Put that on. I’ll get the door, and you can sneak behind me to go find something else.”
“Good plan.”
Nic covered her as she ran down the stairs behind him. He looked through the peephole of the front door, frowning.
“She must have left.”
“Phew,” Felicity said, coming up behind him.
“Yeah, I guess they aren’t back yet, but can I get you some iced tea?” Courtney said, rounding the corner from the kitchen.
Shit, she had let Cynthia Dale in through the side door from the garage.
Felicity stood in horror.
Nic turned, bonking into her like lemmings off a cliff. His fly was still down.
Cynthia and Courtney looked up at the same time.
“Did I get the time wrong?” Cynthia asked, her whole body shaking with laughter.
“No. I’m so sorry. I had a doctor’s appointment this morning, and then I came home to change, and I … lost track of time.”
“Uh-huh. I can see that.” Cynthia handed her an envelope.
“I think you’ll want to read through this.
Also, Sally and apparently all the faculty and students who came still haven’t stopped talking about the Valentine’s Day party.
Maybe next year, we should do a pajama party theme.
Seems like you already have a head start. Let’s reschedule.”
Her eyes scanned the prickly cactus butts all over Felicity’s sack-like gown.
“Yes.” Her voice squeaked like it only did when she was mortified. “Great idea.”
“I’m going to head over to the bookstore. I think I’ll grab lunch at the restaurant instead of here,” said Courtney, not bothering to hide her smile.
Cynthia narrowed her eyes. “I’ll join you. They seem busy.”
When they left, Felicity stared at the door. “City Council Mommy thinks I’m a whore.”
“You can’t call her Mommy five minutes after I fucked you.”
“Do you have to go back for the lunch rush?”
He shook his head. “Jerry’s got it.” He pulled her back upstairs. Somehow her gown and his jeans were off in less than five seconds.
“You know, there are several things in that box we haven’t tried yet,” teased Felicity.
He grinned wickedly. “What’d you have in mind?”
“Depends on how open you are.” She sucked on her lower lip and picked up something with leather, silicone, and a metal buckle.
He kissed her. “I think you’ll find I’m very, very open.”
Later, when they returned to the kitchen for hydration, they opened the envelope Cynthia had left and found out another dream had come true.
