Chapter 4

Chapter Four

D rew woke up the next morning, hoping to get an early start.

He decided to let Karlie sleep since she had to be exhausted.

After their bath, he took her back to his bed and they slept tangled up together.

A few times in the night, he had to wake her up to make love to her.

He couldn’t get enough of her, and every time he took her, he wanted more.

He was hard all night long, never completely satisfied.

Drew was worried that he hadn’t let her get enough sleep during the night.

He slipped from underneath Karlie’s body and headed to the kitchen for some coffee.

He wanted her to sleep as long as she could this morning.

The wedding wasn’t until four in the afternoon, so they had some time before she needed to get up.

He had a feeling that today would be tough for her.

He knew she was still not hung up on Jake, but her family seemed to emotionally drain her.

Drew knew he could only be there for her, and he wanted that for more than just the weekend.

He didn’t know how, but he needed to convince her that she belonged in Alabama—with him.

He was starting to form a plan, but it would take some convincing to get her on board.

He knew that he was falling in love with her.

Hell, he had probably been in love with her since high school.

Hearing her say that she was falling for him, last night in the tub, just about made his heart burst right out of his chest. It felt so right having her here with him, in the house that he imagined sharing with her.

He’d just needed to convince her how right it could all be.

He started brewing the coffee while checking his cell phone.

He realized that he had four missed messages.

Four messages, all from the same person—Lisa.

Fuck, what did she want? They hadn’t talked in months, and they hadn’t been together in about a year.

Why would she be calling him now? She was pretty pissed when he told her he just didn’t feel the same way about her as she felt about him.

He’d seen Lisa around town, and she always gave him the cold shoulder, which worked just fine for him.

Drew listened to the first message on his cell. “Hey, babe, it’s Lisa. I was just wondering if we were still going to the wedding together today. Call me back, or just pick me up at three. I’ll be ready.”

“What the fuck?” he growled. The other three messages were about the same.

How in the hell did Lisa get it into her head that they were going to the wedding together?

He had never asked her. He’d planned on going alone and then leaving just after dinner.

But now, with Karlie, he would have been happy to stay until the bitter end, if that’s what she wanted.

He didn’t know what the hell to do about Lisa.

He’d just have to set her straight. But that would have to wait until later.

Right now, he wanted to concentrate on Karlie.

She was sleeping in his bed, and he planned on keeping her there for as long as possible.

First thing was first; he needed to guzzle some coffee and then make his beautiful woman breakfast in bed.

Karlie woke and stretched, feeling sore from the night before.

Drew proved to be very demanding in bed.

She giggled to herself and rolled over to his side of the bed, pulling his pillow against her body.

She inhaled his scent on it and smiled at the memories that played through her mind of the night before.

When she had been babbling in the tub, she let it slip that she was falling for him.

She was already in deep with Drew after such a short time, but how would that play out when she returned to Atlanta?

Did she even want to go back to Atlanta?

Truth be told, she wasn’t that upset about Jenna and Jake anymore, and she hadn’t built too much of a life for herself in Georgia.

She would need to find a place to live and work if she moved back.

Moving back to Alabama would give her the chance to repair her rocky relationship with her family.

And then, there was Drew. She would love to see where this thing with him was going.

The question was, would he want to have a “thing” with her, or did he only want her for the weekend?

The only way to know for certain would be to ask him, but she didn’t know if she could stand his rejection.

She decided to get out of bed and face the day.

She still had two days to be with Drew, and she would make the most of them.

If he didn’t want more with her, then she’d head back to Atlanta to lick her wounds.

Karlie slid from Drew’s bed and found one of his T-shirts to wear.

She didn’t think he’d mind her borrowing his shirt.

Slipping it over her crazy hair, she headed down the hall to his kitchen.

She could smell the coffee, and was that bacon? Hell yeah, bacon!

“Hey there,” he greeted. “You’re up. I was gonna let you sleep in. You must be tired.” He grimaced with his last statement.

“Yeah, well, someone didn’t let me get much sleep last night.” She winked at him.

“Um, sorry about that.” He crossed the kitchen, handing her a mug of coffee with cream and sugar. “I know that I can be a little demanding. I hope it wasn’t too much, baby.” He leaned in to kiss her. “How’s your coffee? I saw how you took it last night with dinner. Hope I got it right.”

God, she loved that he paid that much attention and took care of her. She went up on her tiptoes and kissed his lips.

“Yes, it’s perfect. Everything was perfect. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I kind of like you being so bossy in bed. It’s hot when you talk dirty to me.” She started to sip her coffee, but he took it away from her. He put both of their coffees on the counter and pulled her into his body.

“Well, I guess it’s good that you like me to be bossy because that is all I know how to be with you in my bed.

Baby, I just couldn’t get enough of you.

If I am being truthful, I’m hard right now.

” He ground his erection into her stomach.

She decided a distraction was in order if she wanted any kind of nourishment.

Good Lord, but the man was built for sin.

“Do I smell bacon?” Yeah, that would work. He smiled, seeming to know her ploy of distraction.

“Yeah, I thought you’d be hungry after last night.” He winked at her and started to make her a plate.

“I can do that for myself,” she said, shooing him away.

“No, I like taking care of you, Karlie. You will just need to get used to me doing things for you.” She didn’t want to feel hopeful about what he just said.

She didn’t want to read too much into their relationship or whatever this was that they were doing.

But she couldn’t help but feel anything but hopeful about what he said to her.

He wanted to take care of her. Karlie wrapped her arms around Drew’s waist and lay her head on his shoulder, pressing her front to his back.

“Mmm, baby, if you keep that up, we won’t be eating breakfast.” Her hands dipped lower, cupping his cock and rubbing him through his boxer briefs.

“Baby,” he growled, turning to lift her to sit her ass on the kitchen table.

He started kissing up her neck, standing between her spread legs.

“Wrap your legs around me,” he said, taking her mouth—hard and fast, licking and nipping her lips.

“Fuck, you’re not wearing underwear!” She smiled at his realization.

He seemed to pick up speed, pulling down his boxers and sliding through her slick folds.

“This is better than breakfast anyway,” Karlie purred, as Drew lifted her T-shirt, exposing her breasts.

“Hell yeah, it is,” he agreed. “I love how rosy your nipples are, how hard they get when I fuck you.” He lapped one nipple into his mouth, sucking gently.

She moaned, feeling his touch down into her core.

He moved to her other nipple and gave it the same attention.

She screamed out her orgasm, and he followed, growling into her neck, sucking and licking her breasts.

She knew that he probably left a mark there, and a part of her liked his primal instinct to mark her. It made her feel like she was his.

Drew helped her off the kitchen table after he cleaned her up.

He had completely lost his fucking mind.

All he could think around her was—mine. Yeah, she was his, and he just had to prove that to her.

He’d fucked her like a dog in heat right on the kitchen table.

Hell, he didn’t even let her have breakfast first. What the hell was wrong with him?

“How about we eat, baby? I know that you have to be hungry.” He was afraid to even look at her for fear that he’d be on top of her again. He couldn’t keep his hands off her.

“Mmm, that sounds great,” she said dreamily. “I am starving.” A knock at the door stopped him from making their plates.

“Shit, at this rate we’ll never eat,” he said, grimacing at her.

“How about I answer your door, and you keep piling food on my plate?” she asked, already on her way past him. She playfully slapped his ass and walked to his front door.

“Who the fuck are you?” the woman’s voice at the door screeched.

“Shit,” he grumbled, realizing who was talking to Karlie. He put down the plate and started for the door.

“I’m Karlie, Drew’s—” She didn’t get the chance to finish her sentence before Lisa interrupted her.

“Karlie who? And why are you wearing Drew’s T-shirt?” Lisa was in rare form today, and she seemed pissed.

“Lisa,” Drew hissed, “what the fuck are you doing here?” Lisa stepped back, holding her mouth as if Drew had slapped her. “Don’t be so dramatic, Lisa. I asked you a question. Why are you here?” His patience was quickly wearing thin.
